"The Girl On A Bench" | Chaeyoung x Male Reader

MONDAY

"Aaaahhh.... hello peace.", you said, pretending that you're talking to someone. You just sat on a bench, arms wide open and you placed them on the back of the bench. "Here I am again, just gonna chill with ya.", you smiled, now you started to stare at the beautiful scenery in front of you.

Meanwhile, the girl in the other bench beside you is sketching two birds being sweet at each other.

TUESDAY

"Hehe, the dog is so cute.", you chuckled, seeing the dog rolling due to his owner's command. The owner is just laughing back at his pet dog because of how adorable he looks.

Meanwhile, the girl in the other bench beside you is sketching the dog too, playing with his ball which the dog played earlier too.

This time, you looked at her but you just switched your gaze around you quickly after.

WEDNESDAY
"Finally, sunset's here.", you reached for your phone from your pocket and took a photo of the sunset in front of you, turning your phone to landscape.

Meanwhile, the girl in the other beach beside you saw it and she sketched the sunset after.

After you took a photo, your eyes landed at her again... now this time she made you curious.

"She's here again?"

THURSDAY
"Here you go, kiddo.", you gave the paper plane to the child which he is playing with. After you handed it to the little kid, he said 'thank you' to you which made you smile at him.

Meanwhile, the girl in the other bench beside you is sketching the kid while playing his paper plane.

After a few seconds, your eyes landed at her again. Now, your question widened up even more, making your eyebrows furrow while you're looking at her.

"Why do I always see her here? At the exact spot and same thing she's doing too?", you scratched you chin. "Weird."

FRIDAY
"Am I stuck on a loop or something? Hallucination, maybe?", you keep asking yourself with some random questions, all aboit the girl you're looking at right now. Yes, she's here again in the park. " Alright, that's it. There's nothing wrong on approaching the girl sketching on that bench right? You're just curious, self. Ok? Let's go.", after encouraging yourself, you stood up and slowly walked towards the girl sketching at the other bench.

Now you're standing just beside her, you cleared your throat before you talk. "U-uhm hello."

"O-oh, hi.", she looked up at you, stopping her sketch.

"Nice sketch you got there. You drew those people playing guitar there?", you looked at her sketching pad, showing an illustration of what you just said.

"Y-yeah."

"Wow, that's i-impressive. If only I have the same talent as you.", you slightly pouted, acting like you're sad but at the part where you said what she's doing is 'impressive', your reaction is real on that. You're amazed.

"Thanks.", she smiled, showing her cute little dimple above her mole at the side of the bottom of her lips.

"Anyways, uhm. I'm sorry for the unexpected and sudden interact of mine, which made look creepy and a stalker, yeah hehe.", you looked away, feeling embarassed. "I'm just... curious, why are you always here? Like, literally I always see you whenever I go here... at the same spot too.", you asked her, putting your both hands at the pockets.

"No, it's ok.", she assured you at the first one you said. "I kinda expected it already because I always noticed that you were glancing at me these past few days. I was thinking the same question to myself too, actually.", she leaned backwards a bit.

"O-oh, wait really?", your mouth shaped like an 'o'. "I never thought you'll notice me because you're too focused on what you're doing."

"Maybe my senses are strong, idk.", she shurgged. "And hey, it's not that i'm too focused on my sketching, I still look around me.", she twirled her finger and moved around at everyone and everything around us.

"Okay, understood.", you nodded while pouting.

"By the way, I'm Y/N. Park Y/N. Nice to meet you.", you offered your hand at her.

"I'm Chaeyoung, Son Chaeyoung. Nice to meet you too.", she introduced herself to you too, accepting your hands for a handshake.

After that, she patted the empty space beside her, encouraging you to sit which you shyly accepted. Now you two are sitting with each other at one sketch.

"I notice that you're wearing the same uniform as mine, you study at -name of school in Korea- too?", you curiously asked her.

"Yup."

"Wow. But, I never see you there though?", you squinted your eyes.

"Not really the type of student who goes anywhere around the school.", she gave a small smile. Now her reason made sense to you.

"Mmmm ok. So, what made you come here, everyday?", you clasped your hands, you didn't look at her this time when you talked to her.

"I just love this place for some reason. I don't know, I feel so comfortable here.", she said, sniffing the air of the place like she smelled her favorite food being cooked in the kitchen.

"So we're the same, huh.", you smirked at her. Chaeyoung just pouted as an agree. "Yeah I like this place too. It's breezy, calm and peaceful. My exact type of place I want to go whenever i'm tired or stressed at something.", you placed your one leg at the other.

"Well, for sure everyone wants that, right?", she placed her sketchbook and her pencil on her bag. You just hummed as a response.

TIME SKIP (30 mins later)
You two go on with another set of topics to talk to, just so the conversation can get longer. Both of you didn't got bored at each other while having this long talk. In fact, both of you are even thankful that you two got introduced to each other and both of you didn't know that having a conversation with someone who has the same interest as you on going into this type of place would be very interesting and nice. With that, you two found a new way to spend some time while being in here.

You learned something from the two of you as each of you got to know each other slowly. You learned that Chaeyoung always being teased by her friends on her small height, which for you it sounds adorable, making Chaeyoung grunts at you. Chaeyoung is also very good at singing and dancing and rapping. In fact, she tried being an idol as she joins her other friends too. She mentioned that there was 8 of them, and you felt honored as she said to you that she will introduce them to you, one day.

After that nice and steady flow of conversation you two had, you glanced at your watch and you noticed something that forced you to stop and end talking with Chae, much to your disappointment.

"Well then, here's my time limit now.", you stood up and slightly stretched your body from the long time of sitting. "I gotta go, Chaeyoung. Bye, nice to meet you again", you reached for your bag, waving at her as you were about to leave her sight.

"Bye, Y/N.", she waved back at you. "Same as you."

"I guess i'll see you around here again, or maybe at the school next time."

"Oh yeah, we will. ", you just gave a smile before you start to walk away from her, leaving Chaeyoung alone again.

Then the next day, Saturday; you two did the same thing just like Friday when both of you met and interacted at each other. Still the same result, it turned out well and that was the start also of the friendship between you and Chaeyoung. You two were glad at it, ofcourse.

The fact that you found a new friend who also like almost everything the same as you. You found someone whom you can relate the most, making yourself super comfortable to hang out with that person especially if both of you starts to do whatever you two both want to do.

But, when Sunday arrived... the atmosphere changed this time, and you already knew that you're about to face something different when you were walking once again inside the park, about to approach Chaeyoung who is sitting in that exact same bench she always used to sit as she does sketching the things she love. You stopped near at her and when you saw Chaeyoung's face stained with tears which is still flowing more from her eyes, you halted, thinking what just happened with this new friend of yours.

After you shook you head to remove your thoughts, there's one way found out the answers. There, you continue to walk towards her and you stopped at this small cub who is sniffing from her tears.

"Chae? What happened? Why are you crying?", you bent in front of her, placing your hands in her arms which she lifted to cover her face by her hands.

"I'm fine, Y/N. Don't worry. It's just nothing.", she removed her hands, showing her teardrop-stained face and reddish eyes.

"You don't look like it.", you sighed, shaking your head after you lowered it. "Seriously, what's the problem, Chae? You can share it on me if you want. I'm worried for you.", you tried to convince her. You really want to comfort this poor girl.

"Y-you are?", she stuttered due to her throat being rough because of that continous crying she did.

"Yeah. And seriously, I don't like when people are crying so please, let's find a way to stop your tears ok?", you then showed her an expression which will clearly show to her how much you dislike her. Your heart is so soft and you can't stand seeing a person suffer onto something.

"Alright.", she nodded, you finally sat beside her, turning your head to the side just to face her. "I just remember my family."

"Oh... uhm, where are they now?", you asked her. The possibilities are starting to run onto your mind. Ofcourse, you're hoping that the most negative ones are not THE ones you were about to find out.

"Up there.", welp there goes your positivity thinking. You followed herfinger pointing at the sky, your face turned into frown immediately.

"Sorry, my bad. My deepest condolences, Chae.", you said in a low tone, expressing your sympathy at her.

"It's okay. Well, it's their first year today since they died so I remember them. I miss them so much.", she started to cry again, you gave your handkerchief at her because hers is already to wet to soak her tears.

"Y/N, remember last Friday when I said to you that I love going to this place because of "some" reason?", she asked you out of nowhere.

"Yeah. I remember."

"This is what I'm talking about.", you slightly raised your head a bit more as you were suprised with that reveal.

"I go here everyday because this is our favorite place to go, when they were alive.", she starts to tell to you the story of her past. "We come here to just do what we like as a family. To feel free from everything, like we have our own world together. Suddenly, it felt like a meteor crashed it in when they were unexpectedly got separated from me one day... where I cannot see them anymore."

" They died due to a car accident.", you winced while Chaeyoung still letting her tears fall. "They were on the way to the location where my brother will compete for a contest in their school when suddenly they got involved into collision of two other cars, one being much bigger than them."

"Where are you at that time?"

"I was in the field trip.", she hold onto the bench as she added another tightness in it. "I never thought that after all that days and night where I had fun will suddenly shift into something I don't want to feel so bad especially when it's about them when I came home at that night. I received the news from my aunt and there, I felt numb. I felt exactly what a person will feel when they lost a loved one and suddenly became a memory forever."

"Sometimes I keep on thinking the what ifs... on what would happen if I was with them at that time? Will we still be able end up being a complete family, either them being alive like me right now or... dead, just like what happened to them?"

"Oh god, Chae. I'm so sorry about that.", you patted her shoulders. "Look, I understand that we question ourselves when something just happened that we don't even wanted to happen but... we have no other choice but to accept the outcome it had. I know this hurts but all we gotta do is to let go. We can't hope or do something to change that particular moment that already passed on our lives."

"Wherever they are, I knew they are happy because atleast you're still safe and you didn't became like them. You can still live your life more and build a better future for yourself like they wanted to.", you turned your sight at the bright afternoon sky in front of you two.

"But I wanted it to be best, guess it'll never happen because they aren't gonna in it.", she sighed, her heart still feels heavy at that reality. You just gave her a sympathetic smile.

"So, where do you live right now and who takes care of you? "

"My Aunt. She's great. She really stood like my second mom to me, but the way she treats me so good will not match the one I had to my mother, ofcourse.", you nodded at her as you agreed too. It's mother's love after all.

You two went silent as you gave her some time to recollect herself and be stable again after that long minutes of crying. After that, she starts to say something that adds a new topic to the conversation between you two.

"I remember what my mom said to me when we were before.", she said, placing your handkerchief at her lap.

"What did she say?"

"She loves this place because she and my dad met here. Then she hoped that one day I will experience the same as hers.", you stared at her as you learned something new again from her moments with her late parents.

"Do you stay here because of that too?", you were curious because you believe that it makes sense anyways. It will add another reason why she's going to this place often. maybe she's searching for love.

"Yeah, kinda. I'm just curious on who could that guy be.", she shrugged.

"Hey, don't worry. You'll meet him one day. Maybe he's just near you the whole time. If you encountered that guy and you start to get to know him slowly and when you're sure that he's the one, better take the chance to confess your feelings to him already, okay?", you gave her an assuring smile, leaning your face forward, making the gap between each other a bit closer.

"T-thanks for the advice, Y/N.", she smiled at you, she looked away because she can't stay longer at herself being locked at your stare... which feels strange to her. It feels like... she's melting, that's what she could describe it and she doesn't know why.

"You're very welcome.", you slammed your hands at your lap. " Here come here, will you. I'll give you some comfort.", and there you invited her for a hug as you grabbed her arm gently and pulled her towards you. Chaeyoung just let herself follow to your pull.

There, her body just leaned at your front as you wrapped your one arm at her back, you placed her head at your shoulder and you leaned yours closer to her, locking her completely into a comforting warm hug.

"Hey, there you are. You finally stopped crying. It doesn't suit you at all, you're face is too beautiful to be messed up.", you said after you took a glance at her face, now all dry thanks to your comfort and your handkerchief. Actually, you wanted to look away right after that but you just can't get your sight away at her cute, appealing, heavenly beauty that can be shown all over her face. You didn't even notoce that you're starting to hug her tighter making her feel like she's safe at your arms.

"S-silly Y/N.", she just chuckled after stuttering. She tried to look away because she's definitely blushing because of that smooth compliment.

"That's true though.", you playfully smirked at her but still you're telling the truth.

" It's starting... I can feel him slowly entering my heart now...", she just whispered to herself. This feeling that maybe caused by the slowly realization of love is new to her and she knows she doesn't want to stop this now. After that, two of you stayed into a hug and both of you two secretly liking this moment.

Then the few weeks have passed, you and Chaeyoung's closeness and friendship with each other grew bigger and wider: which is also both of your feelings at each other; unbeknowngst to the both of you two. You two just immediately gets shy and smiling like an idiot whenever its because either of you or Chaeyoung. You met also Chaeyoung's friends and they accepted you in their group. They are the ones too who always suspect you and Chaeyoung that you both secretly like each other. Jihyo, one of Chaeyoung's friends say that you both are too obvious and yall are so blind to realize that... maybe because of denial that both of you think that you don't like each other back.

Meanwhile, on Chaeyoung's place, after you were gone for a while, they encouraged her to confess to you. She just followed immediately, much to her friend's shock as they didn't expect Chaeyoung to be this brave. She said that she will just accept if you reject her, because she's confident that you don't even feel the same as hers. The girls just scoffed at her and they started to gave Chaeyoung some hopes that you also like her, which actually they knew already and for the sake of your wish to keep this as a serect, they just gave some hints at Chaeyoung about it.
Thankfully, Chaeyoung believed and she got motivated even more on doing this. Planning to do this the next day, the girls just supported her back.

And that day finally came. You were walking through her locker, the usual meeting place of you two. You were suprised because she's not there, but you just arrived on time as you said to yourself. Thinking that maybe she's late because of something, you just waited for her for a few more minutes.

You saw the your 8 friends walking at the hallway, about to pass you. When they saw you, they started to smile immediately which is secretly because of what will happen later which they are already aware of.

"Hey guys, did you all saw Chaeyoung?", you asked these 8 gorgeous girls in front of you.

"I saw her left early at the classroom. Didn't know where she headed after.", she acted clueless, she's smirking deep inside right now.

"Alright, thanks Dub!", then the girls waved goodbye at you which you did the same. You felt your pocket vibrated so you reached for your phone and check what you just received.

You saw Chaeyoung's message saying...

Meet me at the park, sorry if I left... I just needed to be alone for a moment. I'll wait for you:))

You arrived at the park. You saw Chaeyoung once again at her usual spot, doing her usual activity: sketching. You planned to surprise her that you're here so you silently walked towards her. Once you stopped near at her, you peeked at what she's sketching, and to your shock...

...you saw your face being sketched by Chaeyoung.

You were mesmerized at it. You felt your heart beating aggresively at what you're seeing.
Then you started to speak, but not properly enough because you're still stunned to see your face being Chaeyoung's artwork.

"W-what..."

"Oh, h-hi Y/N. I didn't noticed you were there already.", she turned her head at you after she heard you say a word.

"Wow, Chae. How did y-you just sketched m-me? W-without seeing or looking at my face?", you took a closer look at her sketch featuring you, your mouth is slightly open as you gasped.

"I don't need to. It's not a struggle for me since I.... Yo-you're always in my mind though.", she lowered her head a bit just to avoid your look at her because she felt embarassed just by saying it right in front of your handsome face, as from what she could describe about you.

"Oh... haha. That's actually sweet.", you chuckled, blushing because of what she just said. You were on her mind, thinking that she always think about you every night and day makes you smile uncontrollably.

"Y/N, can I ask you something?", her face became serious.

"Sure."

"Remember the day where I told you that... everyday sketch those who and what I love?", she played the pencil with her fingers.

"Y-yeah.", you gulped.

"And... f-for today, I d-drew you.", she stuttered but she tried to make herself composed.

"I can see that. Wait, you're trying to tell me something, right?", you asked because you know she's definitely trying to point something and you're having the guess of it already. You don't want to be confident about it, still because you're thinking that maybe you're wrong.

"Y-yes. I d-drew you for today because I- I love you, Y/N." , Chaeyoung just went straight forward. Your eyes widened as you just stood completely, turning like a statue as you're processing what did you just heard. "I- I left early because I want to get myself ready to confess to you how I really feel about you."

"To explain why, honestly the main reason is just... all about you. When I first met you, I only thought you're just gonna be a guy who would turn out to be a normal friend to me, which you did. But... as days and nights passes by, especially when we're getting close to each other and you're keep showing me that great personality of yours, I started to feel my heart easily melting already whenever I see you.

I feel comfortable, I feel so happy and I feel energized when you're here with me. It's like, I want to stop the time just to be with you. I really never expect that I would fall in love with you one day, Y/N... but I guess love is unpredictable, full of surprises. You'll never know you'll gonna get into that person you're close with. But again, I'm sure with my feelings, Y/N. I believe to myself that I really do love you.", she said, explaining how and what led her into confessing to you right now.

"Wow... I- I'm speechless. I don't know what to say.", you just chuckled as you were panicking inside You can't believe that Chaeyoung likes you too. Hell, she even loves you already.

"I know, it happened out of nowhere. But hey, you can take your time to decide and think deeply, I'm not scared beca-", she stopped as you interrupted her between her words.

"Woah woah wait, hold on there. Why do I need time for that?", you showed your palm in front of her, signalling for her to stop.

"Huh? W-what?", she's confused.

"Chaeyoung, I'm in love with you too. ", you started to confess at her too, which made her eyes wide open too and just stared at you while lending her ears at you as she focusedly listened at you. "I really do. I'm kinda afraid that when I confess to you, this whole thing going on between us might end. Same reason too as yours actually, and also you're an all packaged one, I must say. You're beautiful, talented, adorable, smart, good-hearted and many more. No wonder anymore why I fell in love with you too."

You two just went silent as both of you are still processing what the hell did just happened. You two are checking each other if both of you are just hallucinating or is this just a dream... but as you both went back to this world, you two are now convinced that all of this is true right now.

"So... hehe, now that we both revealed that w-we love each other..."

"We're now dating, right?", you nervously asked her.

"Yeah, guess you could say that.", she smiled widely. You went forward through her and you just crashed your body at her for a tight embrace. You couldn't believe that Chaeyoung is now your girlfriend which you can now say that she's yours.

You two then separated from each other. You took a seat beside her. You reached for the sketchbook which still shows the image of your face which made you smile at it again.

"Looks like it finally came true, Mom.", she started to speak, looking at the sunset in front at each other's eyes. "I experienced the same as yours with Dad. I finally met the one I believe who's right for me and he's beside me right now, Y/N.", she continued to talk like she's actually facing her family right now because she knows she can feel their presence right now... looking proud, jolly and supportive for the both of you.

You also thought that maybe you two really are destined to meet. Well, both of you stays at the same place everyday being near at each other and the rest is history. Coincidence? You think not.

"Uhm... hi Mr. and Mrs. Son, and to you, Chae's little bro. ", you started to talk like they are there in front of you. "I know you all saw what happened to us right now... our confession, and I swear I meant mine. I want to say that I will do my best to become a great boyfriend and I will do everything for her. I will be on her side and I will not want anything to happen that might cause us to separate. I love your daughter so much and I can't broke her heart because I don't want to.", you held Chaeyoung's hand. You both look at it, making the two of you smile, feelings satisfied and contented at this blessing you two just had.

"I love you, Y/N."

"I love you too, Chae.", the two of you then went for a kiss, meeting each others lips. This day became the start of your new relationship with Son Chaeyoung, your girlfriend, the one you first met at the park as the girl who sketch on a bench.
