When Tzuyu learns that her family is leaving Korea, she and her longtime roommate and best friend, Jihyo, decide to make the most of the few days they have left together. Through heartfelt conversations, cherished memories, and unforgettable moments, they celebrate the bond they've built over the years while preparing for a difficult goodbye.
Tzuyu had just finished a night bath in which she spaced out from thinking about what she had just heard from her parents earlier and how she was going to inform this to her.
She didn't even felt that much how refreshing and cold the water running through her body from the shower.
Meanwhile, her roommate Jihyo has just returned home. She noticed Tzuyu, who was still dressed in her bathrobe after leaving the bathroom.
"Good evening, Tzuyu," Jihyo said as she removed her shoes and placed them on the shoerack. She transitioned on to her bag, which she placed on the couch.
"Evening, Jihyo-unnie," Tzuyu greeted back solemnly.
"Did you eat your dinner?"
"I cooked for myself earlier since you said you weren't going to make it at the time we usually eat dinner together.", Tzuyu answered. For a while, she fixed the not-so-messy arrangement of the dishes in the sink.
"Where have you been?", she took the opportunity to ask next.
"Went to my family," Jihyo said, sighing in relief and turning her head from left to right as she began to crack her bones. "Haven't gave them enough visit for weeks because of schoolworks."
"Oh okay.", Tzuyu nodded understandably. "I'll be right back, I'll just change. Take a rest, unnie," she said as she excused herself to enter her bedroom.
"I will, thanks Tzuyu-ah.", Jihyo said. Tzuyu went inside her bedroom, leaving Jihyo to be alone in the couch for a second as she relaxed her body a little more before she stood up on the couch.
She went on to the refrigerator, opening it to grab a pitchel of water and pour it into an empty glass for her to drink before going to her room too.
Tzuyu who is now unfolding her sleeping clothes she prepared on her bed; sighed heavily as she now has to do what must to be done even though she honestly don't like it at all to happen.
She left her room after getting fully changed, finding Jihyo now at her room; laying on the bed while using her phone with her outfit still unchanged.
Tzuyu knocked on the door to get her attention.
"Noona?", she cautiously called her roommate.
"Hmm yes, Tzuyu why?", Jihyo's eyes switched from her phone to Tzuyu who is standing in front of her room.
"I h-have something to announce to you." She said, sighing heavily and frowned, which Jihyo noticed.
"You look sad, Tzuyu. Was there anything happened?", Jihyo curiously asked.
"I-it is."
"Tell me. I can listen and h-"
"I'll not gonna be your roommate starting next week.", Tzuyu declared. Jihyo's eyes sprung open in surprise when she heard what the younger just said.
"W-what? Why?", Jihyo puzzledly asked, clueless about why Tzuyu could just say it like that to her after they've became roommates for over 4 years already since they started college.
"Well, unnie... my parents decided for us to return back to Taiwan.", Tzuyu explained, her eyes gazing away from Jihyo so that she could decrease the pain and sadness she's feeling.
Jihyo's mouth gaped. "Woah, really?", she reacted. Tzuyu just replied with a nod, additional confirming it further.
"C-congrats! That's so good of you and your family, Tzu.", Jihyo said, forming a smile that both of them knows it wasn't genuine enough. She is now sharing the same feeling with Tzuyu after learning the news. "I wish you and safe back to your home."
Tzuyu remained silent while keeping the frown sculptured in her lips. Jihyo notoced it and she understood it completely because just like Tzuyu, she has the urge to express like that to her too but she doesn't want yet. The reason was understandable and quite needed, after all.
"When is your leave?"
"Saturday."
"That's why you are sad, aren't you huh.", Jihyo observed. She pulled her body upwards, now she's sitting with her back leaning the headboard. "You won't gonna be around here after that and it's unknown for how long.", she said, keeping an eye still on Tzuyu who's developing guilt over Jihyo's words.
That made her lack of words and respond again with a nod.
"Thanks for telling me, Tzu.", Jihyo fakely smiled. "But seriously... cheer up okay? I'll be fine.", she said. That wasn't worth enough of an assurance for both of them who knew it wasn't even real at all.
"What's more important is that you're gonna see your country again very soon.", Jihyo said... seeking for other positive side so that she can spare Tzuyu away from the gloomy mood.
"I know it's truly sad too that we won't gonna be together anymore but promise me you'll be safe back there okay?"
"Yes, unnie.", Tzuyu simply said back. They became quiet, still processing how unexpected it was for them both that it would them one day to something like this; not until the quickly recovered Tzuyu from her deep thoughts decided to cut the silence.
"So yeah, that's the only what I'm going to say urgently to you. Thank you for understanding, unnie. Good night.", she lets out a flat smile.
"Good night, Tzuyu.", Jihyo greeted.
Tzuyu gave a little nod before leaving Jihyo's door and she closed it by herself. Returning back to the bed, Jihyo expressed her sadness more as she thought of the remaining days she'll have with Tzuyu before she goes away before she fell asleep with a not so well mood.
Meanwhile, Tzuyu was doing the same as Jihyo, dealing with the unfavorable consequences of her parents' decision, which made her immediately sad that she had to leave so soon.
THE NEXT DAY
Tzuyu wakes up early and makes 2 pieces each of buttery pancakes and some cold orange juice as breakfast. Hour later, Jihyo joins her on the living room after she finally awoke from her slumber. The two sent good mornings each other, although honestly it wasn't really the right definition they're both having.
Later, they ate their breakfast together on the table; both silent and still affected about what they conversed yesterday. Not until Jihyo decided to volunteer as the one to open a topic.
"Tzuyu... about what happened yesterday. Saturday is your leave, right?", Jihyo said after swallowing a chewed piece of pancakes in her mouth.
"Y-yes, unnie.", Tzuyu replied. Her slicing of pancake slowed down as Jihyo reminded her.
Jihyo looked at the calendar pasted on the wall, showing the month of October. "So from now, we have... 4 days left remaining before it comes.", she said as she mentally counted while reading it.
"Let's spend it all, in that way maybe it could lessen our longing for each other.", she shrugged. Tzuyu raised her head, her unwell expression presented in Jihyo's sight as she made her got caught in her attention.
"Do you want, Tzu?", she asked about her suggestion.
Tzuyu kept her stare remained at Jihyo. No any other hesitations within her mind, she gave her roommate the answer. "That's a good idea. Yes, unnie ofcourse.", she agreed.
"I want to have fun with you more while we are getting near at the end.", she added, smiling bitterly.
"It's settled then.", Jihyo said. She wiped her fingers and mouth with a tissue after taking a bite i
of the last trace of pancake served in her plate.
"Go finish your breakfast, we'll go outside for today.", Jihyo commanded, making Tzuyu comply while continously looking at Jihyo unbelievably.
Tzuyu followed and ate faster as Jihyo finished and placed her dishes in the sink before returning to her bedroom and preparing her outfit for today, which Tzuyu did as well.
Leaving the house, they went on to go shopping at the nearby mall in Jongno-gu, bought whatever they want that will serve also as their remembrance to each other. The most notable thing they chose to do was they purchased and customized their 'friendship' rings to which Jihyo and Tzuyu imprinted their names on it. Ending the night, they ate at a fine restaurant to enjoy eating dinner as a retribution for what they never got to have together yesterday.
THE NEXT DAY | DAY 2/4
On the second day, they continued spending time together where they went into a road trip as they visited some must-seen places around Seoul.
They arrived first at National Museum of Korea where they got to see and learn the entire history and background of South Korea and its people through paintings, artifiacts, sculptures and many more as they took photos together inside as part of their collection of memories.
Next stop was the Gyeongbokgung Palace where they explored the entire ground and its structure built since the Joseon Dynasty in 1300's as Tzuyu and Jihyo again discovered and learned about other sets of historical stories, but unlike the first one... this was mainly focused about the dynasty period of Joseon.
Other two remaining places like the Gwangjang Market where they both ate their afternoon snacks and early dinner, and lastly the Lotte World where they took some amusing and extreme indoor rides; as well as buying another bunch of souvenirs at the attraction's department store for Tzuyu.
