Auction Round 1 Rules and Mechanics
Round 1 of Treehouse Auctions will begin on May 29th, 2026 at 9:00 AM PST. A countdown has been added to the homepage.
5 auctions will be held simultaneously, each lasting 5 days:
- Legendary - The top 5 winners will each receive 3 Legendary frames.
- Ethereal - The top 8 winners will each receive 2 Ethereal frames.
- Cosmic - The top 4 winners will each receive 2 Cosmic frames.
- Secret (blind) - The top 5 winners will each receive 1 Secret frame.
- Celestial (blind) - The top 4 winners will each receive 1 Celestial frame.
Blind auctions do not have a leaderboard, so you will not be able to see the scores of the other Treehouses until the auction is over.
Once Auctions begin, new Treehouse memberships will require approval.
Hidden Alliance mechanic #1: The value of your offered cards will be calculated as quality * tier. However, if the card features an idol from your own house, its value will be reduced by 25%. If the card features an idol from an ally's house, its value will be increased by 25%.
Hidden Alliance mechanic #2: Cards won from auctions can be transferred to an allied Treehouse.
Photocard drop rates will be temporarily increased throughout the Auction duration.
Auction formats will change and more hidden mechanics will be revealed in the next rounds. Good luck and may the poca gods be with you!

Introducing Treehouse Alliances
Treehouses can now form Alliances with one another. Alliances are a mutual connection between two Treehouses — a way to signal friendship and community ties.
Any Treehouse member with proposal rights can propose an alliance with another Treehouse. Once this is approved, it will need to be accepted by the other Treehouse. Alliances can be dissolved at any time by either Treehouses.
Once Auctions begin, Treehouse membership will require approval.
Treehouses can currently have up to 2 alliances at a time. However, the top 5 most populated Treehouses cannot ally with each other.
Alliance features and mechanics will be revealed at a later date. Choose your allies wisely!

Introducing Premium Memberships
Fanprose now offers premium memberships that unlock additional features for readers, writers, and collectors. Everything that's free today stays free—premium features are purely additive, no existing features will be removed from free users.
Two Plan Tiers
There are two paid tiers. The first tier focuses on reader and writer conveniences: more favorite authors and featured bookmarks, reduced flower cooldowns, the ability to host challenges, an extra Treehouse membership, and Treehouse voting rights.
The second tier includes everything in the first, plus collector-focused perks: additional featured photocards on your profile, an increased daily photocard limit, a reduced roll cooldown, a reduced shrine offering cooldown, two more Treehouse memberships, and the ability to submit Treehouse proposals.
More on the Way
We'll continue adding features to both tiers over time. Roadmap items like story analytics, incognito commenting, scheduled publishing, reduced ads, and a free daily photocard roll are in progress and will be rolled out to existing subscribers automatically as they ship. Stay tuned for more updates and perks!
Where to Subscribe
Visit the premium page to compare tiers and subscribe. Existing subscribers can manage their plan from Settings → Billing.

Minting Seasons and Auctions
As Fanprose moves towards becoming a fully user generated content platform, we're introducing new Treehouse features to help you engage with the community and contribute to the platform!
Introducing Minting Seasons
Minting Seasons are site-wide events where every active Treehouse receives its own custom photocard collection.
For Season 2, each idol in the Treehouse will receive a Common, Uncommon, and Rare photocard. 60% of members will receive an Epic, chosen by the Treehouse.
Treehouses will also choose the photos for each photocard. Currently, only verified members may officially make a proposal for the change, but all users are welcome to suggest and have their voice be heard.
At the end of Minting Season (June 21st, 2026), all photocards will be formally minted and be available to be collected by all users.
1st Edition photocards will continue to drop alongside 2nd Edition photocards.
Spring 26 will be available to collect until June 21st, 2026, when Summer 26 will begin. Once a new season begins, previous seasons will never drop nor be obtainable through a shrine reward again. They can continue to be traded.
Introducing Auctions
Auctions are Treehouse-vs-Treehouse contests for upper tier photocards. All members (regardless of verification status) of competing Treehouses may sacrifice their existing photocards to bid on behalf of their community, and the winning Treehouses receive empty frames that can be filled with idols from their houses to enter the Summer '26 Limited collection.
Photocard sacrifice value will be calculated based on their quality multiplied by their tier number, so collect, save, and shrine wisely!
If you leave a Treehouse during a live Auction, your points will no longer contribute to the pool.
Multiple Auctions will be held simultaneously with different formats and prizes, so strategy will be as important as brute force.
Once auctions start, Treehouse membership will require approval.
For Summer 2026, 4 Auction rounds will be held for every tier, each lasting 5 days. Auction schedules will be announced soon.
We hope that Auctions will add a new layer of strategy and friendly competition to Treehouses while keeping the site user curated.

Treehouses, Chapter Drafts, Polls, and Browse Improvements
Introducing Treehouses
Treehouses are fan community spaces that form automatically. When a group has enough published stories, a Treehouse is created for it — a dedicated space where fans of that group can gather, chat, and see what's new.
You can join any Treehouse to follow its activity and participate in its community. All users are allowed to join up to 3 Treehouses at once.
Treehouses are an exciting evolution to Fanprose and will open up new features and gamified/community-driven experiences in upcoming updates!
View all active Treehouse here.
Note: Treehouses are currently in beta and may be subject to change.
Chapter Drafts
Chapters can now be saved as drafts. A draft chapter is only visible to the story's author and will not appear to readers until it is published. This makes it easier to stage upcoming chapters, work ahead, or keep unreleased content private while still organizing it within your story.
In addition, chapters now have their own genre and group fields, giving authors finer-grained control over how each chapter is tagged and discoverable — useful for anthologies or stories that span multiple groups.
Polls in Thoughts
When posting a Thought, you can now attach a poll.
Browse: Include & Exclude Tags
The Browse page now supports both including and excluding tags in the same search. Previously, selecting a tag only filtered for stories that matched it. Now you can also explicitly exclude tags — for example, browsing for a specific idol while excluding certain genres or pairings you prefer not to see.
Browse: Random Story Button
A new Random button on the Browse page picks a random story that matches your current filters. It's a quick way to discover something new without scrolling. As a bonus, reading a story you found through the Random button may give you a boost to your next photocard drop rate — so it pays to explore!

Blogs, Story Categories, and Pairing Refactor
Introducing Blogs
A new type of content is now available on Fanprose: Blogs. Blogs are posts designed for anything that isn't a story — author notes, reviews, poetry, community discussion, personal updates, and more. When creating a new post, you can switch between a story and a blog post.
Story Format Categories
Stories are now categorized by format to make browsing more precise. When publishing a story, authors choose one of the following:
- One Shot — A complete, self-contained story told in a single chapter.
- Series — A multi-chapter story with an ongoing or continuing narrative.
- Anthology — A collection of related, standalone stories published together under one title.
Browse and feed filters have been updated to let you filter by format, so you can find exactly the kind of story you're looking for.
Pairing Refactor
Pairings have been consolidated into a smaller set of generic, reusable options — for example, Female Idol(s) x Male Reader instead of idol-specific combinations. This makes pairings easier to browse, reduces clutter in the tag system, and keeps pairing labels consistent across the site regardless of which idols are in the story. Existing stories have been automatically updated to the nearest matching generic pairing. Authors are encouraged to use Idol tags for specific idols.

Reprose, Trending, Inventory, and More
Introducing Reprose
A new way to share stories you love: Reprose lets you broadcast any story or chapter to your followers' Following feed with a single click. Think of it as a recommendation — a signal to the people who follow you that something is worth reading.
A few things that make Reprose different from traditional reblogs or retweets:
- Each user can only Reprose a given story or chapter once.
- When multiple users Reprose the same work, it does not create separate entries in the feed. Instead, the existing entry is renewed and updated to reflect all reproses — keeping feeds clean and preventing pile-ons.
- Reprose count is now a tracked metric on all stories and chapters, visible alongside likes, comments, and bookmarks.
- A new Reprosed tab has been added to user profiles, letting others browse the stories a writer has publicly recommended.
Introducing the Trending Feed
A new Trending tab is now available on the home feed, ranking idols, groups, and stories by overall engagement. Trending score is calculated from a weighted combination of likes, comments, bookmarks, and reproses, and can be filtered by timeframe: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly.
New: Inventory Page
A dedicated Inventory page is now available for managing your photocard collection. The initial release includes:
- A drag-and-drop interface for rearranging your featured photocards.
- The existing locking interface for protecting individual cards from shrine offerings, trades, and gifts (previously on the Profile page).
Additional inventory management tools are planned for future updates.
Share Button
Stories, chapters, and other pages now include a Share button for quick sharing to external platforms including Tumblr, Reddit, Twitter/X, and others.
Minor Changes
- Sacrificed cards in your Shrine offering history now stack on top of each other for a cleaner, more compact display.
- Fixed a bug affecting daily photocard roll limits.

Photocard Settings & Content Guideline Updates
Photocard Opt-Out Settings
New settings are available under Settings > Content to give you full control over photocard drops:
- Disable photocards: Turns off all photocard drops and hides photocard features entirely. Your existing collection is preserved.
- Disable photocard drops from my stories: Prevents readers from receiving photocard drops when they interact with your stories.
A new setting is also available under Settings > Notifications that lets you disable photocard drop notifications and the reward popup. When turned off, you will still earn cards from your interactions — they just won't interrupt you with a notification or popup. Gift notifications are unaffected by this setting.
Content Guidelines Updated
We've updated our Content Guidelines with clarifications around the following topics:
- Incest: Romantic or sexual content between blood-related family members is prohibited, including parent/child, sibling, grandparent, aunt/uncle, and cousin relationships.
- Plagiarism: Posting writing created by someone else is prohibited, regardless of whether you have their permission. This includes copying, reposting, or representing another author's work as your own.
- AI-generated content: AI-generated images or videos depicting real people are strictly prohibited.
- Images of minors: Images of real people under 19 are not allowed as display photos or favorite idols, regardless of context, due to the explicit nature of the site.
Please review the full Content Guidelines for details.

Introducing Success Shrine Wishes
A new shrine wish, Success, is now available. Success is a global jackpot wish where every offering adds points toward a hidden target.
How Success Works
When you make a Success wish, your offered cards are always consumed. Rarer cards contribute more points to the jackpot counter. If your offering pushes the counter over the hidden target, you win the round and receive the jackpot reward card. Success wishes do not share the same cooldown as other wishes.
Global Jackpot Round
The jackpot is shared across all players. When someone wins, the counter resets and a new hidden target is generated for the next round.
Reward Preview
The shrine now shows a Success Jackpot panel with the current point total and a preview of the round reward card.

Introducing Beauty Wishes
A new shrine wish, Beauty, is now available. Unlike other wishes, Beauty is a transmutation — you sacrifice exactly one card and the shrine returns a transformed version of it. It never fails, so you won't lose any cards, but remember—beauty is pain.
Tier Transmutation (Quality 10 cards only)
If the card you sacrifice has Quality 10, the shrine will transmute its tier. You receive a different card featuring the same idol(s), potentially at a higher, lower, or equal tier. The quality of the returned card is rolled fresh.
Quality Transmutation (Quality 1–9)
If the card you sacrifice has Quality 1–9, the shrine will transmute its quality. The card type stays the same, but its quality shifts.
Power Buff Compatibility
Since Beauty never fails, a Power buff cannot reduce failure. Instead, if you have an active Power buff when making a Beauty wish, it is consumed to boost the upgrade chance.
Beauty wishes trigger the normal shrine cooldown.
Unlike other wishes, Beauty can return cards above Epic.
Photocard Locking
You can lock photocards from your profile so they stay out of shrine, trade, and gift flows. Locked cards still appear in your gallery and can be featured. Locking a card that is listed for trade automatically cancels pending offers and removes the listing.

Wishlist, Reading Rewards, and Embeds
New Trading Page: Wishlist
A new trading page, Wishlist, is now available as a reverse-trade flow.
- Choose a card you would like to receive, and optionally list cards you are willing to offer in return.
- If another user has your desired card, they can initiate the trade immediately.
- Users can also gift a requested card without taking anything in return.
Reading Rewards: Photocard Roll Checkpoints
Reading stories can now reward photocard rolls. Fanprose uses multiple algorithms to detect active reading and grants roll checkpoints throughout a story, with checkpoint count based on story length.
Thoughts: YouTube and Spotify Embeds
Thoughts now support embedded YouTube and Spotify content.

Power Shrine Updates
Revised Buff System
The Power Shrine now demands cards of Rare tier or below only. The buff system has been reworked into three tiers based on how closely your offering matches the demand:
- Quality match only — offering any card that shares the demanded quality (e.g. any Q6 when a Q6 is demanded) grants a small buff: 33% failure reduction.
- Card match — offering the exact demanded card at any quality grants a large buff: 66% failure reduction.
- Card + quality match — offering the exact demanded card at the exact demanded quality grants a full buff: 100% failure removal.
Selflessness Reward
The shrine occasionally notices your selflessness when you sacrifice a card to restart the power wish, potentially choosing to give your card back.
Secret Cards
Secret tier cards no longer drop from standard offerings. They can only be obtained through Wisdom wishes.

Introducing Photocard Quality
Every photocard now has a Quality rating from 1 to 10, shown as a ◈ badge on the card. Quality is a new layer of rarity that affects how your cards perform at the Shrine and adds a new dimension to collecting.
How Quality Works
When you receive a photocard, its quality is rolled randomly using a weighted system. Lower values are far more common, while high-quality cards are more rare.
What Quality Does
Quality isn’t just cosmetic — it has three direct mechanical effects when you use cards at the Shrine:
- Offering Value: Quality 9–10 cards count as 2× their tier value when sacrificed. For example, a Level 9 Common card is worth 2x the sacrifice value of a Level 3 Common card.
- Failure Reduction: The higher the average quality of the cards you sacrifice, the less likely a wish is to fail.
- Quality Floors: If the Shrine returns a card of the same tier or lower than what you sacrificed, its quality is guaranteed to be at least as good as the best card you put in.
Wisdom Wishes
For Wisdom wishes, the quality values of your sacrificed cards are summed together to determine your total for the riddle. In order to solve for certain numbers, qualities from multiple ranges will be needed.
Display & Privacy
The ◈ quality badge appears on your cards automatically. If you have no interest in quality mechanics and/or prefer a cleaner look, you can hide quality badges entirely from your Settings page.
Gallery
When viewing a user’s gallery, the quality shown for each card is the best quality they own for that card. If you have multiple copies, only your highest-quality version is displayed.
Introducing Wisdom & Power Wishes
Wisdom wishes are a new type of wish that allows you to solve a riddle in exchange for a very rare reward. The shrine requires a very specific set of numbers to be sacrificed in order to solve the riddle, but once its solved—or too much time has passed—the target number will change. Work together... or pay attention to other offerings to solve the riddle before someone else does, for there can only be one winner per riddle.
Power wishes are a new type of wish that allows you to offer a specific card to the shrine in exchange for a buff that strengthens your next Health, Fame, Love, or Fortune offering: it cuts random failure and boosts Love/Fame wish matching by the same tier (1.5× or 2× the usual wish-target weight). Power wishes do not trigger a shrine cooldown, but will not empower Wisdom wishes.
