The impression I felt the first time I met her was very simple. Our meeting, which took place in a 24-hour minimarket near my boarding house, is not something I will easily forget.
My mind clearly remembers the confused expression etched on her face. Her two obsidian eyes looked back and forth at the razors neatly hung on the rack.
I think she was so frustrated at that moment that she was biting her nails just because of a razor.
"God, what should I do? I forgot what brand Kai mentioned."
She grumbled to herself. I watched her until I often let out soft chuckles. She must have been thinking so much about other people's feelings that she didn’t want to buy the wrong order.
Amused by her, I then walked over to her after grabbing a bottle of isotonic drink from the shelf. I stood right next to her until she moved away uncomfortably.
"Is there anything I can help you with?" I asked, offering my help for free. I don’t usually do this. I don’t like interfering in other people’s affairs and am always indifferent. But at that time, I don’t know. I was just interested in seeing her cute expression.
She looked distrustful of me. As if I was going to hurt her right then and there. But I threw out another sentence in a friendly voice. "I suggest you buy this one. Among all the brands, this is the best."
Her gaze suddenly changed at that moment. The happy sparkle shining in her clear eyes made the corners of my lips curve into a thin smile.
"Ahh... Thank you so much. I can finally get out of this place." She spoke politely and gently. I realized at that moment that she was a truly simple girl. Different from the girls I usually met. She was very simple, even if a bit awkward. And also, she had an indescribable scent. In short, she was attractive.
"You spent your time just for that razor?" I asked, just making small talk. Besides, I really liked her voice, so I wanted to hear it again.
She nodded firmly, showing her innocent side this time. "Yes, almost half an hour. The cashier must think I’m a stalker."
We walked together to the cashier counter. I kept glancing at her. Curious about what expression she would show on her small face.
"I’d like a pack of M cigarettes," I said, asking the cashier for the addictive item that kept me company during my free time.
"I was planning to pay for your drink. But I don’t have enough money to pay for those cigarettes," she whined softly. She didn’t even look me in the eye when she said that.
At that moment, for some reason, I laughed out loud. She was so funny and overly innocent. "It’s okay. Besides, I helped you because I wanted to," I said after my laughter subsided.
She just smiled awkwardly. Her eyes darted around looking for something. When she found what she was hoping for, her irises widened. "I’ll treat you to candy instead."
For some reason, at that moment I didn’t try to refuse her candy offer. After paying for our respective items, the two of us walked out of the minimarket together.
"Thank you once again," she said while bowing her body. "In that case, I’ll go first," she added, then pulled away from me.
I didn’t say anything except busy watching her as she moved away. I even still had time to see her squat down to tie her shoelaces.
That was the beginning of our meeting. Simple and almost left no impression at all, except that I still kept the candy wrapper she gave me.
And who would have thought; two weeks later, exactly today. Destiny brought us together again. Once again in the same minimarket. She was confused again. And for some reason, I really missed her figure.
