βWHAT HAPPENED TO YOU, Y/N?" your cousin Seulgi exclaimed as you and Jihyo approached her door. She examined your neck, caressing both sides.
When she heard your sniff and unsteady breath, both common indications of sobbing, her eyes widened. Is there anything you know your cousin despises about you? That is, by witnessing your suffering.
"That's what I've been wondering, Seulgi-unnie; I saw him on the road crying with some flowers and chocolates," Jihyo replied, worriedly glancing next to you, whose head was still bent to hide your teardrop stained face. When Seulgi realized what Jihyo was saying, she bowed her shoulders down. Both of them are now concerned about you.
"So... it's safe to say that even if he doesn't answer us, we know exactly who he's crying for," Jihyo said, gulping heavily to keep her cool at the only person she knows who is responsible for this to you.
"Ryujin," Seulgi replied solemnly, his gaze returning to Jihyo.
You and Jihyo went inside Seulgi's house after. They commanded you to remove your soaked wet clothes already and take a quick bath after to avoid yourself getting sick, which you followed.
Seulgi lets you borrow some of her t-shirts and jogging pants. They forced you to return to the living room now that you've been cleaned up to continue the conversation about what occurred to you earlier.
You were seated on the couch, both hands clasped in front of you, staring at it, lowering your head to avoid Jihyo and Seulgi's anxious gazes.
"Y/N, did something happen between you and Ryujin?" Seulgi said, placing her hand at your back and taking the empty space on your right.
"She what?", Jihyo asked, anticipatingly waiting for your next words.
"She cheated on me," you said, biting your bottom lip and pushing back tears. She doesn't deserve to be mourned over, especially after the betrayal she committed against you... but you just can't help it.
Your cousin and pal both exclaimed, "WHAT?" You just flinched at the combined volume of their voices.
"How?" Jihyo kneels in front of you, her hand on your knee, and looks up to connect her gaze with the guy she admires, who appears to be absolutely broken right now.
You began telling them the story behind your devastation. "I was sitting in my friend's restaurant when... someone contacted me, and it was also a friend, Chaeyoung."
T-then... she asked me if I know something. I was not getting what she's saying and after that s-she... she sent me a p-photo of Ryujin...", you choose to remove your phone from your pocket and open your chat box with Chaeyoung, you didn't finish the following words first, so you didn't complete the next words.
You handed it to Seulgi, who dug into your pocket because she was immediately near you. Seulgi read the messages you and Chaeyoung had exchanged previously, until she eventually noticed what you were pointing at to them, which made her seem disappointed.
"SHE WAS CHEATING WITH HER WORKMATE BEHIND YOUR BACK?" Jihyo shouted angrily, grabbing your phone tightly. Right now, all she can think about is making Ryujin pay for what she's done to you. She has no intention of letting her pass so easily.
"How dare this bitch damage my Y/N like this? After he put his complete trust in her, this is what he'll get from her?" the enraged Jihyo thought.
"I guess we can't really trust anyone these days; I-I truly thought Ryujin wouldn't do something like this," Seulgi said, her hands on her chest, feeling the stinging heartbeats.
She herself felt as if she had been stabbed in the back. Seulgi, your older sister and mother figure, bestowed her entire blessings on you and Ryujin. She was entirely trusting Ryujin and believing that she would be the very last lady who would be great for you, but she now realizes that was all a lie.
"That... ugh, I can't forgive her; swear to God we won't meet or else I'll pull that cheater's limbs off one by one," the All-Mighty enraged God Jihyo said when she and Ryujin crossed paths.
You simply soothed her by letting out the additional words you wanted to say."I-I don't get, why does she still need to lie on the obvious?", You were referring to the point when you know exactly that even she knows that both of you are struggling in each other's relationship and still she chose to lie on you, saying that she still "loves" you.
"So the two of you seeing the bad signs already?", Seulgi asked you.
"Well, I guess I was correct in my prediction; her heart is already slipping from my grasp due to the barriers we can't seem to overcome."
"I could've accepted her on the basis of loving someone I know she deserves, but she chose this path by first hurting my heart before leaving," you finally said. When they witnessed a teardrop successfully leaving from your eyes again, Seulgi and Jihyo grimaced.
"God, what an unlucky guy I am in love with, right? Such an idiot, didn't realize she'll be just like them, especially the one before her," you chuckle, laughing at how stupid and foolish you are for this.
Following that, you three heard a ringtone coming from Seulgi's phone. When the owner looked at it, she understood it was essential. Seulgi excused herself, saying, "Sorry, I have to take this first okay? Jihyo, you handle Y/N for a bit." Jihyo nodded in response to her unnie's request to go upstairs and take the phone.
You reclined against the couch, closed your eyes and exhaling deeply. You were already despairing, with no other options or plans for getting back into a relationship.
Your heart has been broken by the four women you've had, and you're not sure whether there are any more for you to fall in love with.
That leaves you with no choice except to explain what you've been considering doing about it."You know what? That's it. I'm done. I told her previously that she was my last and that-
"NO!" she exclaimed, this time merely flinching at Jihyo. She didn't like the word you used, which she had heard from you.
She can't let this chance slip away again. She'd been waiting so long for you to try to divert your attention away from her to prove that she's here, secretly adoring you and prepared to go to any length for you, that she'll even try to make it inconceivable.
This is not the conclusion. It won't be over for her until it is, and right now... Jihyo views it like this.
"S-sorry for shouting, but... just... understand this, Y/N," she said softly, placing both her hands on top of yours, like she had always wanted to do. You lock eyes with your long-lost childhood bestfriend, eager to surrender your ears to this goddess about to speak for you.
"Yes, you were all unlucky in these four relationships you had, but please don't think this is the end for you," Jihyo said. "You may be done, sure... but I know someone out there is waiting for someone like you? That one who is right for you? Yes, she may not be flawless, but she can at least do better than your previous ones... which will make her the best you've ever had?" she proceeded to persuade you.
"Y/N, you're just unlucky in love because those you had isn't even meant for you."
"I'm not sure, Jihyo," you said exhaustedly. "I'm not really interested anymore; with everything I've been through, I can't keep ending up like this."
"Just let yourself think about it for a while, okay?", she leaned her face closer to your to make her voice clearly audible for you to hear and understand. "There is someone out there waiting too exactly the same thing you'e been wanting to have in love and when you found her, she will make you risk it trying again and who knows, you might have a strong bond with her and keep each other stay at each other's side forever."
"You know why I'm saying this so confidently to you, Y/N?" she asked, smiling as she caressed your head and glanced around the face of the man who had stolen her heart from the start. "Because I can feel it. And trust me if you do the same, you will figure out what I mean."
You feel comforted and see a glimmer of hope and possibility that you could yet be able to attain what you've always wanted because of those comments from your bestfriend.
Yes, you were being pessimistic... But there's something about Jihyo that makes you feel fully confident that everything will be well again.
It's almost as if she knows it's there but you can't see it. That encourages you to believe her when she says something is true. All you have to do now is keep looking for and discovering what she's attempting to get you to realize.
And she did it again, Jihyo was once again there at your side at your torturous time, not letting you stay in the dark for way too long. She was slowly again guiding you back away from it with a painless transition.
You owe her a lot for sure. You don't know how to repay her though, but you guessed that just appreciating and cherishing what's her role in your life could be one of the ways to do so.
"Thank you, Jihyo. Really, thank you. You're always been a great friend I could rely in my darkest times like this.", you let out a small smile that once again, only Jihyo could make you do that.
"Everything for you always, Y/N. I will be there at your side matter how far I am, just to save you.", Jihyo flashed her brightes gummy grin on you. There's no freaking way this will not melt your heart when you see her doing this.
"Now, just lay it all on me, Y/N. Relax your mind, sleep it off for now. Just keep focusing on it tomorrow, ok?" she said as she sat next to you.
"All right," you said, and sat down on the couch, your head resting on Jihyo's lap. Jihyo can see your entire face, and she enjoys the view she's getting. That makes her want to show even more concern for the defenseless human she is holding right now.
"I hope you'll let me prove my words to you right, and let me show you how I love you in ways they'll never be able to," Jihyo whispered softly after she observed you had finally fallen asleep.
"I'm back..." said Seulgi as he walked downstairs. When she spotted Jihyo, the younger indicated that she needed to be silent by putting her index finger in her lip. When Seulgi saw you dozing off on Jihyo's lap, she completely understood.
...Oh, he's sound asleep."
"I made him stop getting worse again," she says.
"I'm pleased you do." Seulgi smiled, then frowned as she stared at your sleeping body, still feeling sorry for what you went through tonight.
"Oh my poor cousin, I can't blame him for thinking on quitting in love.", she heaved out a huge sigh.
"But I made him hold on, I just don't want to him to give up yet.", Jihyo responded.
"Why is that?", Seulgi looked at Jihyo.
"Because...
...someone is still doing the same too.",
she ran her fingers at your cheek, feeling the smoothness of your skin's texture.
Ryujin exited a taxicab. She rushed through the front doors of her destination."I hope he's still in there... I've been waiting for too long..." she murmured.
As she entered, she approached the receptionists' section to express her worry.Ryujin tried to be cool and said, "Uhh hello miss, reservation for L/N Y/N?"
"This way right-" she said as she was about to leave her location when she realized something and came to a halt in front of Ryujin.
...wait, maam are you with the guy that went here already earlier and took that reservation too?", she curiously asked Ryujin. That made Ryujin startle more when she now realized that you really already arrived here in this place.
"Yeah I am his girlfriend, why?", she gulped hardly.
" We're very regret to inform you that Mr. L/N left the restaurant... probably 10 minutes ago?", Ryujin got shocked. That's it, she failed... and right now she's panicking what to do to you. But one thing's for sure, you deserve an apology and an explaination for this.
But she didn't thought that you also deserve not to believe in lies.
"We really don't know why he left, maam.", the receptionist scratched her nape. "We were also shocked... but one thing we only know is that he was waiting here for almost an hour.", Ryujin felt guilty, knowing she's the sole person responsible for that.
"I take the blame, I just got stuck in a traffic that's why.", she lied, not trying to be reasonable. "Thank you, by the way.", the receptionist just smiled and bowed back in response.
"I'm sorry, Y/N.", that was the words only Ryujin said to herself after she looked around the restaurant and definitely found no trace of you there.
She turned her body back at the door and walked out of Moguri Peach restaurant, still all alone by herself.
(THE NEXT DAY)
"Chan!", the guy who owns that name rotated his head around to finx out who called him with that familiar feminine voice.
He leaves the register area and approaches the woman who called him, dropping the tray of doughnuts he had been holding for a while on the counter.
"Oh, Chaeyoung-noona?", Bang Chan offered a fist bump to the strawberry princess, which she gratefully accepted. "Good morning and welcome to the shop. Any orders?"
"Uhh yes but uhh... is Y/N here?", she asked Chan while she roamed her eyes around and behind the register area to see if you'll come out from the kitchen or your office.
"Sorry noona but boss is out today.", Chan apologetically said to her noona.
"Is that so?", Chaeyoung gasped. That was not really you. She knows you can't just leave your shop for a day so she knows already that completely something's not right as a cause of it.
And she knows exactly why.
"Oh no."
"Why noona? Is there something wrong?", Chan asked curiously.
"He didn't tell anything why he's not gonna be here, isn't he?", she said her guess which she's confidently know that she's right.
"No, noona." , Chan shook his head.
"You know something about this?"
" Yeah, he got some problem with his girlfriend.", Chaeyoung said.
"Oh shoot, now that tells it.", he clicked his tongue. "I hope they fix-"
"No chance.", Chaeyoung interrupted Chan, not looking at him.
"Why?"
"Let's just assume she did something for Y/N that is very difficult to forgive. The most usual one." Chan then begins to consider what his noona meant. His lips formed a "o" shape after a few seconds of brainstorming, and his jaw dropped in surprise.
" Oh... now I get it. No way, really?", Chaeyoung just responded with a nod.
"Even I got worried too for him."
"And that's exactly why I'm looking for him, to check on him you know?", Chaeyoung said her reasons. Chan understood it easily since Chaeyoung is your friend whom you're close at anyways.
"So uhm, I would like some strawberry doughnuts, as usual. Make it one box.", Chaeyoung ordered, changing the topic. Chan complies, returning back at the register area and starts opening the doughnut shelf to reach her noona's preferred order with a tong.
(20 MINUTES LATER)
"Y/N? Come on, answer.", Chaeyoung said, gritting her teeth. She just did her 10th press on the doorbell button of Y/N's house but no one is still answering.
Chaeyoung clenched her teeth and whispered, "Y/N? Come on, answer." She just pressed the Y/doorbell N's button for the tenth time, but no one answered.
Her patience is becoming thin, but she isn't stopping because she believes Y/N is probably inside the house she is currently stepping in front of.
"Y/N, are you home?" Chaeyoung inquired loudly, pounding on the door once more but receiving no response. She peered through the window, but she didn't stay long because it was all hidden behind a curtain.
"Excuse me, may I help you?", a woman asked her from a distance. Chaeyoung turns around to look at the owner of that voice. It was Mina who is wearing a sleeping attire, standing behin dher fence while holding a cup of coffee in her hands
"Oh sure, uhh you must be the neighbor.", Chaeyoung shyly pointed at Mina. "Did Y/N came here last night?"
" I never saw him went here, sorry.", Mina shook her head, but became curious too. She was asking herself why is this girl also looking for Y/N like it's an urgent matter and why she didn't also saw Y/N went home for 2 days now. Thanks to Chaeyoung, Mina got worried too.
"Last time I saw him was yesterday morning when he went to his shop. Is he missing or something?", Mina curiously asked.
"It makes me worried for him too, given that I also encountered like this just a while ago when her girlfriend went here, looking also for Y/N."
"The guts of that bitch...", Chaeyoung spat those words disgustingly in her head.
"Oh, is that so?" Chaeyoung asked, her face contorted in surprise. When Chaeyoung confirmed what's probably happening to you right now, Mina's eyes widened and her eyebrows slowly raised. "Well, kinda, we don't know. He had some trouble going on that's why but... we're doing our best to know where he's at."
"I hope he shows up soon, he's my friend as well as yours, and I can't stand to lose a great friend like him," Mina expressed her concern. She was wondering where the hell you were right now, and all she could hope for right now was that you were safe and sound.
"Me too. I should get going now", Chaeyoung nodded, but before she's about to walk away from your house; she asked one more thing on Mina.
"Uhh your name?"
"Mina."
"I'm Chaeyoung. Thank you again!", Chaeyoung waved her hands goodbye and continues to walk again.
"Bye!", then Mina just smiled in returned then she just watched Chaeyoung slowly disappeared in her eyes.
Now she was left all alone, thinking what could be the "problem" you're having that Chaeyoung is talking about.
She is also your friend too and she loves you. She wanted to help, but she's just too shy to ask more on Chaeyoung since she doesn't know the girl that much and she's afraid that she might be sticking her nose on someone's business more.
"What happened to you, Y/N?", Mina whispered to herself.
(1 HOUR EARLIER)
"Oh, you're awake now," Seulgi observed you yawning and rubbing your eyes as you down the stairs. She set the last plate on the table, which contained hotdogs and eggs. "Come on, it's your turn to eat breakfast; I've had to get to work."
You eventually entered the dining room, your gaze fixed on the foods set on the table. You whistled, "Thanks for this, noona; now I really miss being in here." Seulgi simply smiled, pleased with what she had heard. She excused herself first and went to the bathroom to begin bathing and getting ready for work.
Few minutes later, you just ate the last spoonful of rice on your plate. As you were about to pick up the dishes, you saw Seulgi struggling to carry these two heavy looking brown boxes. You were kinda surprised that your cousin has the strength to carry these.
" You're gonna bring all of those in your office today?!", you exclaimed in disbelief, furrowing your eyebrows.
"Yup.", then she placed the boxes on the floor and starts crunching the bones of her hands.
" You're gonna need some help.", you said and went to the kitchen to place the dishes there.
"No, Y/N, I'm good. I can handle this on my own," she said, wearing her black short heeled shoes.
"No, honestly, noona, you'll be exhausted and lose your energy at work," you expressed concern. You approached your cousin, who had removed both of her shoes and stood up.
"Just... let me okay? I-I don't want to just stick around this house," you pleaded as you placed your hand on her shoulder. Seulgi has no choice but to fulfill your request because she can't make you do something you don't want to do.
"Agh fine, even if I fight you'll still win.", Seulgi just sighed, knowing that she still has you as her priority. If there's one thing you can describe your cousin, that is "selfless".
"Let's get that in my car right now," she said. You began to gather them up and place them on the back of her car before returning home and changing your clothes.
---------------------
"T-toldya, this will be very tiring.", you said after you finally placed it down as both of you reached Seulgi's office.
"Jesus, these things are heavy as hell," you muttered before relaxing your arms and hands, which had become numb from the weight of the boxes you were carrying.
Seulgi crossed her arms as she agreed and muttered, "And it's all just documents and some equipments, Y/N."
"You really should've just be resting at home."
"Good morning Y/N and Seulgi noona!"
"Good morning, Jeong," Seulgi replied, greeting her friend and coworker who had materialized out of nowhere. "Here, Y/N, it's all right now. Be safe on your way home, okay?" she asked.
"All right," you said. Then you turned to face Jeongyeon, who was standing by Seulgi, smiling and staring at you. "Good morning, too, Jeong."
"How's your day so far?"
"I'm not really feeling well, but I'm trying to feel better... even if it's going to be difficult," you said, forcing a smile.
"What's bothering you?" Jeongyeon asked, holding your arm and staring at you closely. You admire Jeongyeon for being such a thoughtful friend to you. That only adds to your gratitude for meeting someone like her, who values her friends so highly.
Little did you know that the reason she's so adept at things when it comes to you is because she has an unspoken crush on you.
"Oh... I'm not sure what it is, but here...", she said, tightening her grasp on your arm and pulling you closer to hers, causing your body to bump against her, and she wrapped her arms around you, encircling you in a loving hug.
You just smiled at Jeongyeon's sweetness.
"All I can say is everything will be OK again; just be strong, hmm? Don't give up already because I know that's not who you are," she said as she stroked your back, and you closed your arms in relief.
"T-thank you, Jeong...", you said, gulping hard. The emotions are once again overflowing your body because of what Jeongyeon did. Your lips twitched, your blinking intensifies until suddenly, you felt one single teardown coming out from your eye.
You were embarrassed and didn't want them to find out again, so you let go of Jeongyeon's embrace and walked away. That didn't work, though, because Jeongyeon noticed you wiping your eyes from behind.
"H-he's crying...", Jeongyeon muttered, grasping both her hands and placing it in the middle of her chest.
"Seulgi noona, what's wrong with your cousin?", she asked Seulgi who is opening the boxes to see its contents.
"His girlfriend cheated on him.", Jeongyeon's heart beat skipped when she heard that. She was becoming increasingly concerned about you. She understands that was one of the worst experiences someone could have in a relationship, especially if it happened to the person they loved the most.
Now she can't blame you why you were still having a bad day despite hiding it behind your mask.
"He went home crying to my house along with his friend. It's heartbreaking to see him again like that.", Seulgi lowered her head and sighed.
"My guess is right. It is a huge problem he's carrying." , she said through her mind.
"Noona, do they broke up already?"
" Not yet, his girlfriend still isn't aware.", Seulgi said, shaking her head. " But one thing's for sure, he will do it when they talk, it's not gonna be easy though.", Jeongyeon nods as she understood the point Seulgi is showing at.
"Then I have a chance...", Jeongyeon thought of that, staring from far away. Since you are now gonna be single, maybe it's time for her to act quick and try to make hers, while proving to herself that she can do better than Ryujin.
--------------------
You returned home after supporting your cousin Seulgi with her work-related items. You simply turned on the television and watched a basketball game because basketball is your favorite sport.
The doorbell rang while you were engrossed watching. You exited the living room and checked the front door to see who was on the other side.
Jihyo, your childhood bestfriend, was waiting outside the peephole, peering sideways.
You opened the door and greeted her. "Hey, Jihyo."
"Hey, uhh are you doing anything today?", she asked you.
"Just watching basketball.", you shrugged.
"Good, suit up now."
"A-huh? Wait why?", you asked confusedly.
"JUST GO AND FASTER! WE'RE GOING SOMEWHERE!", she shouted hurriedly at you. It made you flinch and shock, knowing how loud your cousin's powerful voice is.
Being a singer and an idol is unquestionably the ideal career for her.
"Okay! Sheesh, no need to shout, God," you grumbled, putting both your fingers on your ears and shaking them. You forced her to go inside the home to wait while you went upstairs to change back into the clothing you wore with Seulgi a short time ago.
"Here, i'm done."
" Nice. Wait...", then she opened the cabinet beneath the TV and released some piece of paper and a marker.
"What's that for?", you raised your eyebrow.
" Note.", then you started to understood what Jihyo is writing in there. She's excusing you and her and telling the reason why there's gonna be nobody around the house.
"Could you just message Seulgi noona?"
"Aish just stop complaining. We won't know if she'll seen my messages. You know her, she's too focused on her work.", then she closed the cap of the marker and returned it back at the cabinet. She placed the note on top of the table.
"There you go, cmon let's go out and hop to my car.", she then started walking to exit the house. You on the other hand, following her from behind.
"Where are we going?"
"You'll see.", Jihyo smiled and when both of you are now outside the house, she locked the door first before the two of you enter her car.
-------------------
"I haven't been here in a long time," you and Jihyo say as you stand in this noisy, crowded, and colorful amusement park. You're looking about, remembering moments when you've been here before.
"WE haven't been here.", she said, correcting your pronoun. You looked at her. "I stopped going here too since you... you left.", Jihyo forced a smile then looked away from you.
"It's more fun when I'm with you." hurt you a little, knowing that Jihyo has been sulking for a long time since you left your childhood home and only visit it on rare occasions, preventing the two of you from spending more time together and doing exactly what you two always like to do as bestfriends.
"You don't have any schedule today?", you asked her, changing the topic.
"Fortunately, yes.", she answered. The two of you starting walking away from the parking lot and explore the surroundings of the park more. " It got moved to another day since they said something went wrong with the preparation."
"So you chose to spend your day-off with me?", you looked at her.
"Yup. I'm doing this to make you feel better and cheer you up from what you've been going through these days.", then she gave you her classic gummy smile.
"Thank you, Jihyo.", you returned the gesture lifting your lips upwards a little.
"You know my answer.", she winked. Then she grabbed your arms and starts shaking it, jumping happily in front of you "Cmon, let's pick a ride now!"
You two have officially begun to enjoy your time here at the amusement park. You and Jihyo went on seven rides in total, including a horror room where you and Jihyo yelled for the majority of the walk. But, in comparison to you, the fear effect you got was magnified because it wasn't only the scares that got you; it was also Jihyo's abrupt shouting and screaming even though there was no jumpscare yet.
You two decided to take a break after hours of happiness and joy.
"Y/N. let's go eat. do you wanna try that barbe-", she stopped talking when she noticed you not paying attention to her.
She walked beside you and inspected you. She figured out that you are staring at this man with bouquet of roses and a box of chocolates in his hand, about to approach his lady who is sitting on a bench, waiting for her to return.
You remembered what happened to you at that miserable night which is exactly identical compared to what you are seeing right now, knowing that you didn't got this result you've been wanting to have.
The lady smiled and covered her gasping mouth at her man in front of her, giving these things that will surely show how much he loved her with all his heart.
Jihyo noticed your gloomy expression and sensed your despair. She also became enraged with Ryujin for what he had done to you.
She cleared her throat and spoke to you. "Y/N? Hey, earth to Y/N, you there?", she poked your shoulder repeatedly.
"S-sorry. W-what did y-you say again?", you returned back to reality, shaking your friend while blinking rapidly.
"I said, let's have our dinner now.", Jihyo gave you a dork expression. You just nodded back.
"Are you really okay? You're spacing out.", Jihyo asked you, even if she knows the answer already. She's stupid, she thought. Why would she want to confirm it more which will make her react to it negatively?
"I'm okay. I just... saw something that caught my eye.", you forced a smile and glanced back at the couple you saw a while ago.
"You're still thinking of her.", Jihyo said in a low tone.
"I do. She still won't go off in my head.", you pointed at your head, heaving a huge sigh. "Everything is just... her. She's my whole world you know?", you spread both of your arms and put it down back.
"That's normal. You love Ryujin, ofcourse.", that's what only Jihyo could say. When it comes to that cheater of a girlfriend you had, she truly doesn't want to talk about it any longer. She didn't think she was worthy of a topic. The only thing that matters to her right now is you and her alone, while she tries her hardest to impress you with her love for you.
"Let's save for it, cmon it's not pretty to be sad when you'll have a delicious food in front of you.", then she pulled you to make you follow her on each other's way to the barbeque restaurant.
You finally looked up from your messaging app while waiting for her to finish giving her orders at the cashier.
Unread messages were expected, yet these three drew your attention the most. They were the ones who sent you the most messages.
You then came up with a plan to meet them all the following day because they needed it. You close your phone once more and return your gaze to the park.
(THE NEXT DAY)
Ryujin was eating her breakfast when she heard her doorbell rang.
She looked it up to see who it is. She flung open the door, showing her boyfriend's figure, which happened to be you... standing directly in front of her
You appear weak and blank. You didn't want to do it, but it has to be done. You won't be able to recover without this, and you'll just keep trying to run onto something from which you can't get away.
|
Ryujin threw her body into yours for an embrace when she saw you. She pressed her compress on you with an apologetic smile on her face. On the other side, you're just trying to hold back your rage, pain, and despair at your girlfriend's audacity in continuing to do this to you after what she's been "secretly" doing behind your back.
"Y-Y/N!!! I'M SO SORRY IF I MADE YOU WAIT. I DIDN'T MEANT TO RUIN OUR DATE. I KNOW YOU'RE MAD-," she began to explain, but you cut her off as a hint of displeasure appeared on your face.
"I am mad.", your voice became even lower, pure seriousness from the way you pronounced it. . You gradually moved her away from you, breaking her embrace. "Please, could you just get off of me first?"
"I'm upset... but I simply quickly push it aside because there's something more important to discuss," you told her, clearing your throat."I came here for two reasons, so let's start with the first," you said, raising two fingers before lowering your middle one to empathize with the first reason you're about to tell. "Why?"
"What do you mean why?", she asked you confusedly.
"Why did you cheat on me?" she asked, then froze in her place. She was caught off guard this time, taken aback by your question, which exposed the secret she'd been working so hard to keep hidden.
There are no secrets left hidden for too long, as the saying goes.
She didn't have any other time to prepare for what was about to happen to her, for what she was about to get with this; but she's not surprised. In any case, she deserves it.
"You claimed you love me a few days ago, but I only believed it a bit," you said, lowering your head to avoid her guilty expression. "I can see it from us that this is getting worse, but why? Out of all the strategies we could've done, you chose the most unappopriate one.",
Your voice begins to tremble.
"You thought I wouldn't know, didn't you?" you asked, pointing towards Ryujin with a painful tiny chuckle. Only the latter frowned. "That you had an affair with your so-called "workmate."
"Now... I only need a confirmation and I want you to acknowledge me nothing but the truth.", you said as you handed her your phone. When Ryujin viewed the photo of her and Yeji kissing while waiting for a cab, her eyes sprung open.
"Is it a yes... or a no?", you asked, awaiting her response even though it was evident. You just want to hear it from her so you can finally be inspired to carry out your plan for today.
"Where did you get this?", she is still staring at the picture.
"From a friend who just passed by when you two did this.", you replied to her.
"Just answer it, Ryujin. Don't dare to cement yourself more as a legit liar.", you begged for her.
She returned your phone, which you had taken. She let out a long sigh, shaking her head at what she'd done to you; she still feels bad about hurting you this way.But what could she do with it? What happened has already occurred, and she is unable to undo it.
However, the only thing she refuses to change is the fact that she is still in love with Yeji. Yeji treated her really good and she can't deny that it made her fall in love too.
She carefully lowered her head and fixed her gaze on you, her face contorted with sorry expression. She stuttered, "I-I'm sorry, Y/N..."
"So it is a yes.", you breathily said quick. You turned your body around and walked in circles to look around, bracing yourself for the emotional outburst you'd be experiencing in front of her.
"God, that fucking hurts so much," you said, clenching your chest and inhaling some breath as tears began to gather in your eyes.
"What did you do to me, Ryu?" Ryujin trembled at the sound of the question.
" I swear with all my heart, Y/N despite what I did my love for you was true.", her voice begins to shake, getting affected by the current mood of their chat. "All of those were true. And I'm sorry if I lied to you, thought that keeping it hidden from you is a nice option to do because I... I can't hurt you.", right at the exact time, both of each other's first teardrop fell on each other's cheek.
"You don't want to?", you asked her in disbelief. "Ryu, I could've preferred it more if you didn't betrayed me!", you said, raising your voice slightly and causing her to close her eyes. "You and I know what's happening in our relationship. YOU COULD'VE JUST ASKED ME TO SET YOU FREE!", and you finally shouted due to the effect of how this going on between you two right felt like your heart is being stabbed by dozens of swords with poision containing all Ryujin's lies to you.
"You didn't hurt me, Ryu. You destroyed me into pieces... and I don't know when I will finally be a whole again because of what you've done.", you sobbed as you clutched both sides of your jeans hard. Ryujin just sobbed in response to your pitiful appearance in front of her.
"I know... it's a dumb and idiotic thing for me to do, but all I can do is apologize for you," she added between sobs. "I don't ask for forgiveness, Y/N, but please... don't forget how much I once loved you."
"Ofcourse, I will.", you agreed. She was saying the truth anyways this time. You know that was real before all this disaster of an event happen in your relationship with her. "Why should I? I felt it from you, I can't deny that you didn't.", you shrugged.
"If only you could've become open to me," you grumbled, clenching your teeth in disappointment. "You're also bisexual now, I see; you're in love with someone of the same gender as you; it's no problem to me, Ryu." she only gazed at you, this time feeling more worse about herself for not talking it out with you.
Yes, both costs pain but the satisfaction at the result of it? The second one was definitely better.
" All I could do was to wish you just took the risk of admitting it instead of using it to make your dirty secret."
"Now that brings us to the second reason why i'm here.", you raised your hand, showing two fingers again this time. "We had a good run in 6 months, but sadly... everything must come to an end.", you bitterly smiled. You can tell by her expression that she immediately recognized what you're about to say in your second reason. Her face trembled, as if she was about to shed another batch of teardrops.
"Don't cry with this one please, I know you've been wanting this too... so I'll give to you.", you said as you wiped her tears with your knuckles. You tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear, looking closely for the last time at the girl you loved that you thought could've become the best out of all the girl you had.
"Let's break up.", your lips are shaking once again, fighting the tears that's about to come out again because of how tragic this ending of your relationship you'll about to receive again as usual.
"This is the only way now I guess. We can't save anything now. Thank you for everything, Ryu... for loving me until to the limit where you can only reach."
I hope she'll treat you right, can do things I should've done for you... especially like sparing some time.
And as for you, please don't shatter her heart as well." Ryujin only nodded, still crying at your final message for her before you and her drift apart, "I can't take others suffering the way you did to me."
"You deserve someone better, Y/N. I'm sorry.", Ryujin said breathily while wiping out her tears off.
"I already heard that before, now I don't know anymore if I will continue looking for that someone again.", you said.
"Goodbye, Ryujin.", you said as you officially ended your relationship with Shin Ryujin, your fourth girlfriend. You left her crying in front of her door as you went away to your next destination, unsure when your heart will be repaired and never shatter again.
--------------------
"BOSS! YOU'RE BACK!", your bubbly manager Bang Chan greeted you energetically when he saw you enter the door of your shop, returning back from your three day absence.
Your other employees and staff also looked in surprise at your sudden arrival in your shop.
"Sup, Chan. Did you all missed me that much?", you chuckled then smirked at them. "I just disappeared for 3 days."
" We do. Especially me when I found out...", your smirk slowly went out when you became curious at what Chan is trying to say.
...boss, I'm sorry for what happened to you.", Chan looked in empathy at you. You frowned then sighed, knowing that this was about your break up with Ryujin.
"How did you know?"
"Chaeyoung noona told me. She went here, looking for you.", he said, scratching his nape. Thta made sense to you since Chaeyoung was the one who informed you about Ryujin's darkest secret that she accidentally saw.
"It's fine, thanks Channie.", you said, patting his shoulder, which he returned with a similar motion and a nod, indicating that he appreciated your understanding. "How's the shop?"
"Finally, you showed up.", Your talk with Chan was cut short when a familiar voice came from behind you. You turned around and saw Momo who just finished eating in your shop, was in front of you along with a look of relief in her face.
"Momoring. Right at the time.", you said to her. "Cmon, uhh Chan, let's continue later shall we? We'll just talk.", you excused yourself to him.
"Aye aye boss!", Chan complied, gesturing a salute to you before he went back to the kitchen.
After that, you found yourself now having a seat along with Momo in front of you.
"How's the date? Did you and Ryujin enj-", she was about to start the topic but you quickly cutted her.
"We broke up.", you became straightforward already to her.
"What?", she gasped in shock. She was literally not expecting this. She really thought that you and her would be having such a nice and smooth romantic date at her resto, but that didn't happened.
"You heard it right.", you forced a smile to her. "So... what you're about to ask me, my answer for that is the exact opposite."
"What happened?", she confusedly asked you.
"She loves someone else.", you raised your hands and then dragged it down back to the table after. "Thats all I got to say. I just... I don't want to talk about more of it anymore."
"We parted ways, we talked about it and its all done now. I don't even have any more tears left to cry. But i'm sure that my heart... is once again shattered, for the fourth time now."
"Sorry about that, Y/N.", Momo sadly said.
" Where were you at that night? I was looking for you yet no trace of you can be seen there.", Momo felt even more sorry for herself when you said that.
Guess it's time to say her explaination to you, well not really just a normal one. It's more than that.
Because of what she did, she appeared to be selfish. She was just thinking about her feelings that night, and she didn't even consider yours.
She could've just be happy instead if she saw you enjoying your date with Ryujin.
She shouldn't left at that night, that's her her biggest regret so far.
She wasted the opportunity. That was the time you are looking, expecting and wanting her presence with him, but she didn't showed up instead. It really felt like she failed you as a friend and as someone who adores you more than that.
If she stayed, she could've helped you right away through your difficult situation that made you unable to interact with anyone for 3 days when you prefered to be alone for a while.
It was unimaginable for her what did you do to those 3 days to ease your heart, mind and soul.
If you found someone who can help you though, she is thankful for whoever may that be... but it could've felt better and way more relieved if she's the one who did it.
"Oh... me?", she shyly said. "I guess I should apologize for what I did huh?"
"Apologize for?"
"For not being there with you at that night when she broke your heart.", she formed a frown.
"Momo... it's fine. It's not a big deal for me.", you tried to cheer her up because she really doesn't have any fault about this. You don't want her o look down at herself because of that.
"But it is for me.", Momo said frustratingly, you heard her gritting tone of her voice too that expressed her emotion more. You were shocked at it, knowing that Momo definitely taking this seriously right now.
"I feel guilty, even more that I'm hearing this straight for you that you were looking for me.It's like... I really felt that you wanted to see me... you needed me at that time, but I wasn't there for you.", she pointed at you repeatedly.
"I could've saved my friend. I... I.... I could've ease the pain felt by the one I love the most out of anyone.", Momo then started to shred tears, much to your surprise after that sudden confession she just made to you.
Momo loved you more than a friend.
That was a shocker to you. You really can't see it to her, you thought she was just treating you only as a friend these whole time.
"What?"
" Y/N... I- I left that night because..
I won't stand seeing you with Ryujin enjoying each other's precious date while my heart is aching bad knowing that the man I'm seeing with someone else... is the one I'm falling in love with.", she sniffed, lowering her head.
"That's right, I love you, Y/N. Since before we became close with each other after that day in the culinary class ended.
Not only our friendship was built, but my growth of admiration for you too. You're just too fun to be with, Y/N. Everything you do, it just brightens up my mood... I feel more alive when I'm with you.
Then one day I realized how is it like to feel nothing but pain when I heard you're dating Dahyun at that time.", your eyes widen even more as you realize that was the first time you hurt her feelings; you didn't realize that, in addition to you celebrating when you won in love, there was someone else who was secretly feeling defeated and mourning for her wasted feelings for you.
"I said to myself maybe I don't have a chance anymore, so I tried to quit loving you. I did it, but when I had my first relationship ended, I found that it just led me back to you, but you have Ryujin now at that time.
Like a loop, Y/N. I'll feel pain then I'll love you... and it goes over and over again. Who knows, maybe it'll never end.", Momo finally ends her speech of explaining her confession to you.
"Momo..."
"There you go, I finally confessed to you. My secret I've been keeping has finally revealed. Now, all I should do is to know your response with it.", she looked at you intently, placing her arms crossed on the table. "I see this as an opportunity, would you let me Y/N?"
" I-... I don't know, Momo.", you shrugged, shaking her head. As of now you really don't know if you're onto this. It made you traumatized a bit already. That 4 relationships all ended is already such a huge deal to you, knowing that was all nothing like you wanted to achieve.
You were scared to try once again because it worries you that it might end up the same again just like the rest of them.
"Still I'm very sorry if I'm not aware after all these times that I'm hurting you. I don't mean to make it happen again. I want to give you that chance but... as of now I haven't decided yet if I will be interested in having a relationship again.", you stated, making Momo frown, knowing that was not the response she was expecting from you.
"I've been through many enough and it's all a failure, I'm scared, not sure if I have one last try left in me.", you sadly said to her. Both of your heads are now tilted down, so you're not gazing at each other.
"I'm sorry Momo but... so far I can't answer you with that. But I promise, this time... I'll make sure you won't wait for nothing.", you assured her, grasping her hand and assuring her that you'd keep your word this time.
"Okay.", she said, no hesitation of doubting you. She believed you with that since she felt that you're sincere and eager to do this.
"This ends our talk for now, I have somewhere to go. Bye and I'm sorry again.", you gently stroked both of her hands before leaving Momo alone, who was only following you out of the shop, her eyes on you as you walked away from your seat to proceed to your last destination.
-----------------------
"Y/N!!! I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR YOU, WHY AREN'T YOU ANSWERING MY MESSAGES?", Chaeyoung raced up to you with an embrace as she noticed you standing in front of her door. You nodded and put your arm around her back.
"Relax, Chae. I'm sorry, okay? I needed some time to be alone and rest.", you said to her. She made you enter the house, giving you the way inside.
" Was it because of what I made you see?", you merely responded with a forced tiny smile, which Chaeyoung already knows is a yes."I'm sorry for what I did.", she said, frowning.
"Why are you saying sorry? I should be thanking you now.", you said, raising her head by grasping her chin and forcing her to look at you. "If it weren't for that, I may still be making a fool of myself by loving someone who has already given up on me."
It's all fine now Chaeng, we're through now and we're both good but... I still can't forgive her for what she did to me."
"Then that's good to hear.", Chaeyoung nodded. She ended up staring at the features of the only face that makes the butterflies in her stomach go active.
She shifted her head away from your palm to break up her lengthy stare at you when she noticed her face becoming hot and her cheeks beginning to flush.
"Anyways, uhh Tzuyu called me earlier.", she said. She took a seat on the couch which you did the same to make yourself comfortable.
"What did she say?"
"Just some update about you and even me. That was our first conversation we had since 2 years so we needed it.", she said, making you understand.
"Told her that you also want to talk to her, and she gladly accepted. And I knew it."
"What do you mean?", you once again asked her confusedly.
"I won't say it, but trust me... after what I heard, you'll feel bad for her very much. So please, let her explain herself and listen to her without holding grudges in your heart.", she pleaded for you.
"I won't. That's all I needed, anyways.", you said, shaking your head, making a vow to Chaeyoung that she believed and accepted. She doesn't want to know that her two best friends had reconnected only to have a major fight. She wanted this conversation to be smooth and uncomplicated this time, ignoring what had happened in the past and enlighten what really was behind of it.
You sighed and looked around Chaeyoung's house while having the image of the woman you'll be meeting next after a long time.
"Well then, tell Tzuyu I'll meet her. Name the place and time."
