After that day at the arcade, Jimin and Minjeong actually started to consistently hang out at school. Well, not to the point where people would call them besties, but often enough for them to find themselves sitting down at the library, doing their homework together.
Well, more like Jimin doing her work, while Minjeong keeps on procrastinating her own. Seeing how Minjeong had skipped the beginning of the semester, driven by her class representative’s responsibilities, Jimin actually decided to tutor her. But she didn’t know that the girl was this lazy!
“I’m sleepy…”
“Come on Minjeong, it’s too early for a break! We barely even started, and you really need to catch up!”
Minjeong groaned, dropping her head on the table from exhaustion. Jimin giggled a little at the girl’s rare display of emotions, and softly nudged her arm.
“Hey, wake up.” She looked at the clock, and noticed how late it already was. “Should we get going?”
Minjeong drowsily raised her head, and looked at her notebook with clouded eyes. It gave enough time for Jimin to actually analyze her features. She never realized how long Minjeong’s eyelashes really are. She really is pretty.
“Something wrong?”
Jimin realized she had been staring for a while now. Embarrassed to have been caught, she slightly jumped, and awkwardly waved her hands in front of her face. “I’m just admiring your… concentration!”
Minjeong squinted her eyes, obviously doubting her poor attempt at an excuse. But thankfully, she brushed it off, and began to push her stuff inside her bag. The two made their way towards the entrance, but their steps quickly halted, seeing the threatening clouds up in the sky.
“Looks like it’s going to rain soon,” stated Jimin. Next to her, Minjeong simply gazed at the sky with a bored expression.
“Hey, come back here Nyanko!”
Jimin suddenly saw a black cat bolting right in front of her, and a panicked-looking old lady following it.
Jimin immediately joined the lady’s side. “Are you okay ma’am?”
“I am, thank you. But my cat just ran off! He’s still young and fiery…”
“I’ll go look for him!” announced Jimin, knowing that the school was going to close soon.
“Oh, thank you young lady!”
Jimin dashed towards the school’s entrance, turning towards Minjeong. “You go on ahead Minjeong, I’ll be back!” She entered the building, and began her searches. She tried the courtyard, but nothing was there. It must have gone inside the building.
Jimin shivered when she saw that they had already turned off all of the lights there. But she didn’t really have a choice, did she-
“Scared of the dark?”
Jimin felt her feet leaving the ground, and her heart literally exploding. “Aah!” She turned around to see none other than Minjeong, who was slightly leaning towards her, her expression mirroring a curious puppy’s.
“Minjeong…” breathed Jimin, still trying to calm her racing heart. “Why didn’t you go home?”
“Well, it’s getting dark. I didn’t want to leave you alone.”
Okay, that was actually super sweet of her?
“Also, I haven’t done my request of the day yet.”
This brat.
Jimin scoffed, and turned towards the darkened hallway. “Ugh, whatever. Let’s go!”
Both girls marched inside the obscure building, and Jimin could literally feel the hairs on her back standing up, as well as a cold and uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach.
Bang!
Jimin shrieked, and immediately laced her arms around Minjeong’s neck, looking for anything to protect herself.
A beat.
“Sorry.” she said, quickly taking a step back. Minjeong looked at her, sporting her usual poker face.
Flash!
Jimin jumped again, this time after hearing the violent sound of thunder. Minjeong, on the other hand, seemed amused, despite the weird situation they were trapped in.
“Say, Jimin. Are you this jumpy usually?”
Jimin, whose hands were glued against her ears, frantically nodded.
Minjeong presented her her hand, slightly looking away. “You can hold on if you’re scared.” Jimin shakily took it in hers, ignoring the loud beating of her heart in her ears, desperate for comfort.
“This isn’t a request… so you can let go if you want. I won’t force you,” muttered the blonde, who was still looking away.
Jimin wordlessly squeezed Minjeong’s hand a tad tighter, scoffing inside of her head. Since when was Minjeong chickening out like this? This girl really is unbelievable.
The two of them resumed their search, wordlessly strolling down the hallways hand in hand. It had been pretty calm so far, except for Jimin’s occasional flinches here and there. But suddenly, they heard a suspicious metallic sound. Of course, Jimin jumped, but Minjeong’s touch made it a bit easier to bear.
They cautiously entered the classroom from where the sound escaped, and saw Nyanko, sitting on top of the cleaning supplies’ locker, looking as relaxed as any cat would in this situation.
“Here you are, you scoundrel!” yelled Jimin, relieved. Minjeong released her hold on Jimin’s hand, and walked closer to the cat, fetching it in her arms.
The sight of Minjeong softly nuzzling her nose against the cat’s head didn’t need to be this cute.
Jimin sighed, feeling relieved that their mission was finally accomplished, but somewhat feeling like something was missing. She looked at her hand, and sighed again.
“Do you want to hold hands again?”
Jimin jumped for the nth time that day. She should probably think about taking out insurance for all the times Minjeong had given her heart attacks already. “N-nonsense!”
Minjeong giggled and walked past her, ready to give the cat back to his rightful owner. Jimin followed her, feeling completely defeated. She doesn’t have enough energy for this!

After giving Nyanko back to the old lady, the two girls tried to resume their walk home. However, the skies were clearly not working in their favor. Because as soon as they took a step out of the school’s grounds, rain began to violently pour over their heads.
“What do we do!” yelled Jimin, already feeling her wet clothes sticking to her body.
“My house is close, we can go there!”
And that’s how they found themselves in Minjong’s entryway, completely drenched. Jimin heaved out a sigh of relief.
“Do you live far, Jimin?”
“I would say… about a twenty minute walk?”
Minjeong nodded. “I see. Do you wanna stay over?” Jimin’s eyes widened.
“I mean, you’ll probably get sick if you walk home in the rain without an umbrella…”
“That’s… true,” breathed Jimin, defeated. She didn’t plan on sleeping over at Minjeong’s house at all, and immediately began to feel self-conscious, hoping she wasn’t intruding or something.
“Let me show you where the bathroom is then.” Minjeong led her to a room at the very end of the hallway, and opened the door. “Call me if you need anything.” Jimin stood there, deep in thought.
She was in Minjeong’s house.
Well, it was not the first time per se. And there was nothing weird about it! Minjeong was just being nice, and Jimin was sure she didn’t have any hidden intentions. Right?
She vividly shook her head, trying to get rid of those thoughts. Without wasting a second, she jumped inside the shower, and let out a small sigh of relief when she felt the hot water against her cold skin.
A few minutes later, she exited the bathroom, finally feeling refreshed. She looked around, searching for Minjeong, and eventually found her upstairs, inside of her room.
“Thank you for having me here. I hope I’m not bothering you too much,” she said while opening the door. Minjeong was on her phone, and looked up when she heard Jimin coming in.
“It’s okay. There’s only me here anyways.”
“Oh,” was the only thing she found to say, as she took a step closer to the bed.
Minjeong let out an airy chuckle. “Don’t make that face, it’s fine. I haven’t seen my dad in years, and my mom lives away for work, so it’s just me. But it’s okay.”
The blonde, who was previously laying down, slightly sat up, motioning for Jimin to come closer. And when the distance between them was reduced, Minjeong softly grabbed Jimin’s hand, bringing her to sit down on the bed. She wrapped her arms around the raven’s back, and buried her face in it, before pulling Jimin down with her.
“For my request,” she laid right next to Jimin’s body, her head resting at the crook of the raven’s neck. “I wanna stay like this a little.”
Jimin felt her face burning, and heard her heart loudly thumping in her head. But it was a request, right? She couldn’t really refuse.
And she didn’t really want to either.
“Okay…”
Minjeong felt so warm against her skin, despite looking so cold on the outside. For a second, Jimin stiffly laid there, before she finally decided to indulge herself a tad. She turned against Minjeong’s front, and wrapped an arm under the girl’s head, and the other one around her waist.
That evening, Jimin found herself wanting to learn more about this mysterious girl.
