Methods to Obtain Photocards

Good Morning class, I hope you all are doing fine. How was the last lecture? Did you learn a thing or two about the Quality of Photocards?

Today, in Lecture 03, I am going to talk about the FIVE main methods that you can obtain photocards from! And I’ll also be talking about the RANGE of the rarities of cards you can expect to get using each method. If you have been absent for the first lecture, please review the different tiers of Rarity of photocards!

Without further ado, let’s dive into (the) FIVE ways to get Photocards on Fanprose!

• Method 1: Shame? There ain’t no shame until I get 100% Collection:

Thanks to our lovely site Fanprose, we can legally ask for Photocards from other users!

If you navigate into: Photocards → Trading → Wishlist, you can submit a wish of ANY cards from ANY collections with ANY rarity! (Besides One-Of-A-Kind cards) That means, from Common all the way to Cosmic? You name it, maybe someone will have it!

You have the option to offer some cards you own in return, but if you do so, why not just initiate a Trade instead? Maybe someone is feeling generous today, and ba-dom! Your inventory gets one extra gorgeous Photocard like this! So ask nicely, say some good words >3

As usual, your kind, caring professor recorded a video of me requesting a photocard! I will delete the Wish after the lecture so yall won’t attempt to bride me! That’s not gonna give you extra points in the Final exam, but being a good boy~ will get you exactly that. Hmm?

• Method 2: Participate In (Official-Hosted) Prompt Events

So, this method is a bit more niche in a sense. Are you a reader? Are you a writer? Maybe both? But it doesn’t hurt to start writing! Especially when it can POTENTIALLY give you some One-Of-A-Kind Cards!

Disclaimer: Again, I’m just an instructor, and I am NOT an admin or official of Fanprose. So I cannot, at this moment, give an accurate answer to the following question:

“Can I host a prompt event myself and D-I-Y an One-Of-A-Kind Photocard?”

High chance, no. But please seek clarification from the Moderators if necessary! However, please DO pay attention to the Prompt Events hosted by the Fanprose official account (@Fanprose), and it USUALLY comes with an One-Of-A-Kind PC for participation! You don’t need to write 100K series, you don’t even need to write 10K. Hell, you can write whatever you want!

Smut if you’re feeling a bit, horny? No problem.

Fluff if you really want to bring a big smile to your readers’ faces? Absolutely!

Angst if you've got that blue mood in you? Welcome!

Just please… write your own fic instead of feeding it into a chatbot ^_^

• Method 3: Use the Site! (Simple as that)

Curious students may ask, what is MY favorite update throughout the Fanprose history? My answer will be that update on April 16, where you can now receive Photocard drops SIMPLY by reading fics on the site! Remember that one lurker named dimp1ez?! He screamed out loud seeing that update because he can now get Photocard drops without interacting with others! He was so happy when I was riding… ahem… what the heck? I mean, writing. Writing! He was so happy when I was writing them an Email about this update.

Jokes aside, you can earn photocards via the following actions:

1. Liking a fic, a comment, an in-line comment, a shrine-offering, a thoughts, et cetera.

2. Posting thoughts, fic, in-line comments, a tutorial like this one, commenting on a shrine offerings, et cetera.

3. Bookmarking a fic/chapter for later, or adding a fic/chapter into a Reading List

4. Simply Reading! There’re certain “hidden” checkpoints within a fic you read, once you past it, there will be a chance that you get a Photocard drop. Please don’t try to fool the system by scrolling your mouse through the whole 15K Smut in 3 seconds! I know you ain’t ChatGPT, at least take your time to enjoy the work by our fellow authors!

There is no official, proven probability for how likely you receive a Photocard Drop. But I am personally positive about the following statements:

• Longer fic will have more “checkpoints”.

• Interacting with your OWN fic counts.

• When publishing a fic, if it is longer, then there is a higher chance of getting a drop.

• The “Cooldown” between each individual drop is approximately between 10-20 minutes.

• There is NOT a theoretical hard-cap on the number of drops you receive PER DAY, and it is likely following a “Token” mechanism.

• Expect 3-5 Drops per-day if you spend a lot of time on the site (“A Lot” is subjective, but 1-2 hours is an optimal range)

Side Theory: The Token Refreshing Mechanism:

Each drop is activated by a TOKEN and the cool down of each token is calculated independently. The speculated cool down (NOT Officially endorsed or verified) is one-day (24 Hours Per token).

The total number of Tokens each users have is UNKNOWN (Speculated to be 3-5).

EXAMPLE 02:

“A new user creates their account at 10 a.m. P.D.T. Then their Token is AT MAX (IN THIS CASE ONLY: Assume the maximum tokens for a user is 3)

They receive a drop at 1 p.m. 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively. Then they SHOULD expect to get their three drops TOMORROW at similar time.”

• Method 4: Trading

Pretty much self-explanatory here. Navigate to:

Photocards → Trading and you are all set to initialize a Trade! I’ll skip examples for this part, as it is relatively easy to figure out!

• Method 5: The Shrine.

Why did I mark the font red? Because it is DANGEROUS!!!

There is a LORE: one day, the admin of Fanprose realized that people are just getting more and more Photocards from the drop, and what happened when there’re too many of them? Inflation! Decrease in values! So they came up with the idea of Shrines to control the number of Photocards there!
