In the Library

You’re in a rather peculiar situation. On one hand, you’re ecstatic. Finals were coming up which meant a break from school. On the other hand, the teacher randomly assigned everyone a study partner. Which usually isn’t so daunting. Except you somehow got partnered with your crush, Minju.

Which is how you ended up in the library, sitting across from her to study the class material. You’re trying your best to re-educate yourself on what happened a few months ago but somehow your still at the top of the first page of your textbook, sneaking glances up at Minju.

It’s not like she had dressed for a date or anything. Rather she’s just wearing regular clothes, not even named brands or anything. But she was still dazzling. Everything about her was magnetic. The way she’d lift her reading glasses every so often. The way she’d tuck her hair behind her ear whenever it got in the way. Even the little subtle movements of her mouth whenever she was pondering over something.

You tried your best to avoid interaction, averting your eyes whenever she’d look up at you or pretending to think hard about some big thing. But eventually she came to a point where she had to ask for a second opinion.

“I’m having some trouble with this practice problem. Got any ideas of how to start it?” she asked, leaning forward while lifting up a multipart question.

You look up from your book, doing your best to act casual and pretend like you would be able to solve anything. Except your gaze doesn’t fall on the question in hand, but rather on her hand. How it looks like she got a manicure done with how pretty her nails look.

Your mouth moves before you have a moment to process what you’re saying, “Uh-uh Wow yeah it’s pretty. Do you mind if I hold-” before realizing what you’re asking. “I mean that’s a pretty tough question. I think I need a closer look.”

You take a glance at her. She’s smiling while handing over the paper. You hope she doesn’t think anything weird about it. Looking over the problem, you find it to be similar to a practice question from class. You quickly flip through your notes, find the problem and start discussing her question.
