“Yeji what are you doing here?”
She perks up and smiles, “Waiting for you of course.”
You return the smile with a concerned gaze back, “What’s the issue with being at your apartment this time?”
She simply shrugs, “The new battery you put into the front door is faulty. I couldn’t get the keypad to turn on and there’s no locksmiths available at this time.”
You sigh. It’s not the first time she’s shown up out of the blue. Keys got lost. Neighbors too loud. She’s bored at home since no one is there that day.
At least she came dressed in warm clothing this time. And sober.
You still remember last time she was here. She had gone out drinking with her friends on a rather cold day and ended up at your place wearing a t-shirt and skirt. You had just finished your 7th consecutive day of work when your security camera had notified you of an attempted intrusion. You went to review the alert and saw Yeji throwing her jacket over the fence and then attempting to climb over as well. Confused, you quickly rushed back only to find Yeji sleeping near the fence after who knows how many attempts of climbing. Too tired to bring her home, you instead brought her into your place and set her on the sofa.
Which is when things got a little bit complicated. As you were laying her down on the sofa, she had wrapped her arms around your neck pulled you down with her. Caught off guard, your fell onto her chest. Before you could pull away she was already rolling to the side, bringing you along. You tried to pry yourself away but her grip was suprisingly strong. It became even tougher when she was bringing her legs up and kneed you in the stomach. She probably felt her position was incomplete as after a moment she manuevered her legs to rest on top of you instead.
Winded and tired, you decided to end the struggle and just let her be. Her soft breasts became a nice pillow and her heartbeat lulled you to sleep.
You woke up the next day with sunlight beaming down on your face. You reached down and blocked it with your blanket. Then you realized that you had a blanket. A little more awake, you had looked around the room and realized that Yeji had already left.
Back to the present, you and Yeji were sitting across each other. You both weren’t quite sure how to start the conversation after last week.
“So…I’ll get you a new battery and we can fix the door tomorrow…”
“Yeah sounds good.”
Then you’re both taking a sip of hot water from your mugs, finding new interest in the house decorations.
After a good while, she takes a deep breath and asks, “Did I bother you last week? I don’t remember much and felt a little embarrassed from how we woke up together.”
You pause, thinking about whether to make a joke or tell her honestly. “No, you came here drunk and I was too tired to take you home. So I carried you to the sofa and passed out next to you.”
“Oh..” She breathes out, and you’re not sure what to make of it.
“Don’t worry, you’re pretty strong still when your drunk. And a good aim! That knee to my stomach still hurt when I woke up.”
She covers her mouth, “What? Oh my I’m so sorry! Are you okay?” She gets up out of her chair and moves beside you.
“Yeah I’m good,” you laugh. “I’m glad it was the stomach and not something else.”
“Still..I feel bad. How can I make it up to you?” She’s close now, leaning down to check on you.
“hmm.. Maybe give me a heads up next time you want to show up. I don’t want you waiting around for me all the time. I feel bad.”
You see her eyes light up.
“How about you give me a key to your house then? That way I can wait inside?”
“Well I’m not trying to encourage more visits..”
“Why not?”
“I mean it’s nice to hang out with you Yeji, but we’re not a couple…”
“we can be..” she mutters under her breath.
“What?”
She looks at you hard for a moment. Then she looks away and confesses, “Aish, you’re so dense. I like you. I come to visit you because I like you okay. I got drunk because my friends said it might loosen me up.”
“Oh…” you’re at a loss for words. The thought that she liked you had crossed your mind but you weren’t ever sure it was real.
“That’s it? Oh?” She turns towards you, cheeks slightly pink.
“Wait I need a moment to process..”
“Process what? How to turn me down?”
“No! I just wanted to try and say something better than ‘I like you too’”
“Oh..”
“Yeah..uh you know what.” You stand up from your chair, embrace her, and kiss her.
