paper stars.

so tiny, yet holds so much value.

i honestly think i can fill up a whole jar with paper stars

all handcrafted just for you.

not because they could ever compare to the ones in the sky

no, those are so much more beautiful.

it’s because i think love is sometimes found in small, handmade things.

the solemn decision to spend hours of your time, folding little pieces of paper

just for that special someone to know that they were thought about in a gentle manner.

i can make them in your favorite colors at first, lilac? pink?

then i can make them in colors that remind me of you.

blue, serene like the ocean.

orange, just as beautiful as the sunset.

some are uneven, badly cut, or even badly folded

why? because i kept smiling halfway through making them

I’d remember you and i’d just immediately smile

it’s crazy how much you’ve changed me for the better

normally i wouldn’t spend hours doing and learning something just for one person

but you’re the exception.

I’d try to hide tiny notes in some of the stars

things i could never truly say in front of you

“you’re so pretty today, and everyday.”

“you have such a cute smile.”

“you make my day so much better.”

and here’s something i noticed about paper stars.

they’re fragile

simple

small

but every single fold came from someone who put in effort

deciding that you were worth their time.

my time.

and maybe that’s what this all really is

the stars

they’re just a collection of tiny proofs I am hopelessly

quietly

and unconditionally

in love with you.
