[Sana, 9:29 PM]: Okay hear me out.
[Sana, 9:30 PM]: I’ve been having dreams. Really weird ones.
[Sana, 9:35 PM]: Like. I’m walking down the street and I smell something good, and I would think—oh! It’s probably me cause I always smell good. Then when I look down, realizing that I’m holding the bowl of noodles and I try it and it’s exactly like the ones you buy at the convenience store!
[Sana, 9:45 PM]: I eat them, and I start floating in the air and I’ve never felt so happy in my life.
[Mina, 9:50 PM]: Are you okay?? Did they give you shrooms or something??
[Sana, 9:54 PM]: Nope, I’m sober.
[Mina, 9:54 PM]: Okay??
[Sana, 9:55 PM]: Can you buy me those noodles, please? :3
[Mina, 9:56 PM]: No.
[Sana, 9:56 PM]: TTwTT
[Sana, 9:58 PM]: FINE I’LL BUY THOSE NOODLES AND I'LL HAVE A NOODLE PARTY AND YOU'RE NOT INVITED. OKAY?
[Sana, 10:01 PM]: I’m sorry I shouted. I love you.
[Mina, 10:02 PM]: Love you too, you weirdo.
Mina rolled her eyes at Sana’s messages. This wasn’t the first time her best friend has sent something as random as this.
But she knew one thing, Sana was probably having a good day. Or night. Either way, she usually did this when she was happy with something… or maybe with someone.
Sana had been updating her about Tzuyu’s constant visits at the club and as much as Mina wanted to worry about it for the obvious reason, she couldn’t help but feel a bit relieved that Sana had been pretty cheerful because of it.
This new thing with Tzuyu probably was more than Sana just serving her as a client. Maybe her best friend might have feelings for this person. It was ridiculous, knowing how they met and how their relationship is developing. Sana kept telling her and her friends that they usually talk when Tzuyu visited. But Nayeon and Momo think that was just another word for seduction and foreplay.
Mina didn’t want to worry. Sana was old enough to choose who she wanted to be attracted to.
From Mina’s knowledge, it was either Tzuyu or Kazuha. And at this point, she just wished that Sana would meet someone else who was closer to her age and respectful, or someone with a normal job.
Mina sighed at the thought, it wasn't like she could do anything about it. She already tried to warn Sana and then Nayeon; but it was obvious that the older one had her opinions of it and would rather go with whatever she thought was for her. Then there was Sana, who in hindsight, didn’t really have a choice. Which was sad, but lucky at the same time?
At least Tzuyu was cute, as Sana had described her. Plus, nothing bad had happened, Sana managed to come home in one piece, sober and all her belongings still in her purse.
Okay—maybe there was a part of Mina that didn’t want to admit that Chaeyoung was right. Though she promised herself to give Chaeyoung the benefit of the doubt this time and believe in her words that they had no ulterior motives in interacting with them. So as much as it hurted her ego, she had to admit that the blonde was right.
Chaeyoung needed to thank Tzuyu for that.
Mina threw her head back on the couch and let out a heavier sigh. Her fingers were getting tired. But she was almost done.
Looking down at the little creature she was weaving out of thick yarn, she couldn’t help but gush over how adorable she made it look. But at the same time, she was questioning her existence when she decided to create a handmade gift for Chaeyoung.
In her defense, she did spend the previous week looking for things around the mall. Maybe a new necktie or perfume or maybe a fruit basket as well.
But she didn’t buy her a neck tie because technically she still had Chaeyoung’s tie and blazer. Which she both dry cleaned, waiting to be returned to the owner.
She decided not to get her perfume because she couldn’t decipher what Chaeyoung’s scent was and choosing something new was too risky, not to mention that it was way over her budget if she did find something decent.
Lastly, she believed that getting her a fruit basket only would make her look lazy. Chaeyoung made her fruit basket special because she brought flowers along with it. Mina didn’t want to get flowers either. Was it fitting for a gang leader to receive flowers?
In the end, she decided to rummage through her old belongings she brought from Japan and found her crochet hook, happy to see how it was still intact and it wasn’t flimsy. (Good thing they got it in plastic.) After cleaning it up, she went to the nearby fabric store to buy yarn, then holed herself up in her room as she worked on her little gift.
She didn’t want Sana to know what she was doing. Because it might make her best friend believe that Chaeyoung was special to Mina. She wasn't. She was just someone who kept bumping into her in the worst possible moment and that she would always do something nice or chivalrous for her.
It wasn’t like it was going to happen again. Two weeks of not seeing Chaeyoung had been quite peaceful. Though, the thought of not showing any gratitude for the multiple times she was saved by the blonde didn’t settle easily in her brain.
“Finally.” She let a deep breath out once she completed the last pattern on the gift. She tied a knot to put everything in place and then took out a longer piece of yarn, looping it from the back and once that was done she lifted it up with her finger.
Her smile was big, seeing how the little charm turned out. Mina decided that maybe making a crocheted version of a tiger head inside a strawberry hat would be a decent gift of thanks. Plus it was small, so if Chaeyoung liked it but was embarrassed to carry it around, she could just keep it in her pocket.
If Chaeyoung liked it.
God, she didn’t think of that. She couldn’t change her mind anymore. It would have been a waste if she just threw this away. Mina spent way too much of her free time working on this little tiger charm.
“Chaeyoung’s going to accept it whether she likes it or not,” Mina said to herself with a huff.
Damn, this was embarrassing, she thought to herself. She didn't even do this for her first girlfriend back in high school. So her making handmade gifts for Chaeyoung was ridiculous. Son Chaeyoung, a gang leader she had just met, who had a charming smile and a cute butt.
She whipped her head towards the door when she heard small knocks. She stumbled through the thread on her lap, shoving the little charm in the pocket of her cardigan and dumped everything else quickly inside the box she had set aside.
Mina started to panic when she heard the knocking again. She kicked the box underneath her couch and then ran to the window. It was starting to become a habit of hers, thinking this was a good alternative for a peep hole that was nonexistent in their apartment building.
She tried to scan the outside, but she couldn’t figure out who was outside. She pried herself from the window and head towards the door. She would have known if it was Chaeryeong because the neighbor had a distinct feature that they could easily point out.
“Who is it?” Mina asked. She really wished their doors had peep holes.
“Uh.. Hi.” The voice was familiar, and it made Mina’s heart skip a beat. “It’s Chaeyoung.”
She opened the door slightly and peeked her head out. “Chaeyoung?”
The blonde removed the hood from her head and revealed her bright colored hair, smiling widely at her.
Mina could have had a stroke right then and there with how cute that smile was. She gulped and then opened the door wider for her. “What are you—oh.” Mina’s eyes went wide at the leader’s attire.
It wasn’t her usual red button down, blazer and tie. Chaeyoung was wearing a plain hoodie, jeans and sneakers. Casual Chaeyoung was as equally attractive as Chaeyoung with her suit on.
She hated it.
“Is it your day off?” Mina couldn’t help but ask as her eyes examined the outfit again. Blue did look good on her too.
Chaeyoung rubbed the back of her head sheepishly. “I know, it looks weird. But I thought that maybe I could dress down when I see you.”
