It was a small operation. Well—they thought it was.
Jihyo, for some reason, was in charge of the whole plan. She had a small two-way radio installed in Dahyun’s car so it was easier for the officer to tell them what they should do or who they should look out for.
“A boat will arrive past eleven in the evening. Head to the docks and make sure you and Chou are the first to arrive. Meet with the man in glasses, he’s the client and we need to get the goods from him. Shuhua and the others will be on standby in case the talk doesn’t go well.”
Dahyun was tapping her fingers on the steering wheel while Tzuyu was sitting calmly on the passenger seat. Just waiting.
“So Jihyo said the boat is blue and we gotta meet with some dude in glasses,” Dahyun said while she was bouncing her leg up and down. Seemed that she was nervous.
“I know.” Tzuyu looked at her questioningly. “This isn’t the first time we’re doing this. Why are you nervous?”
Dahyun closed her eyes a bit and sighed. “I don’t know. Maybe cause we got a cop radio in my car? I’ve never really worked with Jihyo before. I usually drive Jeongyeon to meet up with her but that’s pretty much it.” She leaned back on her seat and then carded her hair with her hand. “I don’t even know where the fucker is right now.”
“Makes sense.” Tzuyu nodded and then stared out onto the dock, waiting for that boat to arrive. “But they probably asked us to do it cause we’re good at what we do.”
“Yeah, we’re fucking great.” Dahyun raised her hands and her voice was louder than what she meant for it to be. Then her expression softened and looked down at her hands. “I’m also kinda jittery cause I wanna text Nayeon so bad but Jihyo said we can’t use our phones.”
“Clingy, aren’t we?” Tzuyu smirked at her.
“Shut up.” Dahyun scoffed but when she realized what she said, she turned to look at Tzuyu with a big smile. “I can finally say that to someone!”
Tzuyu rolled her eyes and laid back on her seat. If Dahyun was thinking about Nayeon, then it was safe to say that she also couldn’t stop thinking about Sana.
It had been days since their last meeting and Tzuyu’s mind was filled with Sana’s voice, her touch, the feeling of her lips on her skin. It was like a drug. She was itching for more of it and it was making her question why she did. But the thought of having Sana in her embrace again was an addicting feeling and she didn’t know how to stop it.
When she returned to HQ that night, she kept her serious demeanor and was calm when she needed to talk to Shuhua or whoever passed her way. Keeping the cold exterior when inside, she felt like she wanted to burst out in flames.
But when she finally got went back to her personal quarters, she laid on her bed, staring blankly at the ceiling and couldn’t stop thinking about their sex.
It was the first time she had ever done it where it meant something to her. It wasn't her just fulfilling the end of the bargain or anything, she didn't leave immediately or had the feeling of wanting to finish it as soon it started. She wanted it to last, she was starting to yearn for Sana to be in her arms longer than the time given to them. These new feelings were overwhelming, and she didn’t know what to do with them. But what she knew was that Sana wasn’t just someone she saw at the club. Sana was special.
That had to mean something.
“Dubs.” Tzuyu spoke up, not even realizing that Dahyun was ranting about something the whole time she spaced out. “Are you in love?”
Dahyun’s jaw dropped at the question, her cheeks turning red and then she looked away. “I think? I mean, Nayeon and I have spent so much time together and she cares about me. I do too.” She wiped her palms over the steering wheel and let out a weak laugh. “I think about her a lot and it makes me feel giddy inside. So yeah, maybe I am in love. Nayeon is special to me.”
Tzuyu’s brows shot up when she said that. If she was putting two and two together, then maybe she has her answer. “I think I’m fucked.”
That wasn’t what she was supposed to say.
Dahyun looked back at her. “What?” She chuckled and shifted her position to face Tzuyu. “That’s a weird way to change the topic.”
Tzuyu furrowed her brows. “No, no. It’s still related. I was talking about Sana.”
“Ah, what about it?” Dahyun’s brows then shot up, eyes going wider and then she pointed a finger at her partner. “Wait—were you asking me about that because…?”
Tzuyu mashed her lips together and nodded. “Yeah, I think I’m falling in love with her.”
“Oh damn.”
A scratchy noise came from the radio. “Oh damn.”
“Jihyo?!” The two said in unison. But then Dahyun looked at the machine closely and realized that she was holding down the button of the walkie-talkie attached to the machine and then panicked.
“Oh shit, I left the radio on,” she said sheepishly, scratching her head.
“Dude, what the fuck?” Tzuyu glared at her for a bit, snatching the device from her and pressing the button to speak. “How much have you heard, Ji?”
The officer sighed, the scratchy noises from the frequencies were louder. “Pretty much since the start. Especially about the birds and hibernation or some shit—Dahyun, you really need a better hobby. I do not want to go through that again.”
Dahyun whipped her head at Tzuyu and slapped her arm with the back of her hand. “I thought you were listening to me!”
“Why the fuck would I wanna learn about the hibernating rituals of fucking birds?” She argued back, rubbing her arm from the smack.
“Anyway, you weirdos,” Jihyo interrupted them. “Tzu, if I may, how do you feel about it? I mean, this is probably something new for you, right?”
Well, that hit squarely on the nail. She hated how Jihyo knew the exact words to say. They had a comfortable relationship at this point for her to open up about something like this. Jihyo was a safe space so she might as well indulge herself in it since she already blabbed about it.
“I don’t know.” Tzuyu threw herself back on her seat and then sighed, thinking deeply about it. “Maybe keep it in? I’ve never really felt this way for anyone before. But like what Dahyun said, she’s special. Sana is special to me and I keep thinking about her. Not in a friendly way anymore.”
“Well, that’s a good start. Recognizing your feelings is important.” Jihyo hummed over the radio.
“I think the only thing that makes me hesitant is finding out what she feels.” Tzuyu bit the insides of her mouth, saying it out loud seemed scarier than when she asked that question in her head. “It’s not like I can say ‘I love you’ and get a ‘yes I love you too’ back.”
“How about finally having sex with her?” Dahyun loosely said. Tzuyu almost flinched because of it, then she carefully looked at Dahyun. “Since you book her like three to four times a month like a fucking creep.”
Should she tell them they already had sex?
“Dubs, you’re the one who slept with Nayeon even before you guys admitted your feelings towards each other.” Luckily Jihyo answered quickly—wait.
Tzuyu knitted her brows together and squinted at the driver. “Wait—for real?”
Dahyun gave a smug nod. “Oh yeah. Great sex, by the way.” She connected her index finger with her thumb and gave the okay hand gesture at Tzuyu. “But we're taking it slow right now.”
“Kind of backwards, don’t you think?” Jihyo scoffed.
The driver simply chuckled. “I know, but I guess that’s how we work. I know we’re meant for each other.” She shrugged and looked at Tzuyu with a big smile.
“Whipped,” Jihyo said softly through the radio.
Through the radio they heard the frequency fluctuate a bit and it sounded like someone was entering a room. “Hey babe. I got dinner.” It was Jeongyeon’s voice.
“Babe?!” Tzuyu almost shouted.
“Oh! Jeong! Busted!” Dahyun shouted as well and started laughing out loud.
“What the fuck?! Why are the comms on?!” Jeongyeon was frantic over the radio.
