Author’s POV
A few days later, Y/N left home and headed to the camp. Once he arrived at the camp, he handed over an envelope to the guard and requested the guard to hand it over to Captain Tham. The guard nodded his head as Y/N took his leave. As Y/N walked towards the bus stop, he noticed that there was a car parked nearby. A person from the car exited and waved for him to enter it. Y/N felt suspicious but decided to enter the car. Inside the car, there was a man sitting on the right side of the passenger seat.
“Hello there Y/N, nice to meet you. My name is Mr Kim, the owner of SK high school,” said the guy.
Y/N’s POV
“Nice to meet you. What do you want from me?” I asked.
Mr Kim smiled and told me not to worry as the driver drove off. Mr Kim then handed me a file which I took and read. The file contained information about the school and the teaching staff. This made me look at Mr Kim and asked what he wanted me to do.
“Simple, be the principal of my school,” said Mr Kim.
“You gotta be kidding me. You could have found someone else but why me?” I asked.
Mr Kim smiled at me and explained that it would be best if he got a foreigner to take care of the school. I seriously cannot believe what he had just said. He then continued by saying that he needed the school to do well so that it would not be handed over to the government. This made me quickly look at the file and I realized how terrible the students were doing. I closed the file and shook my head, telling Mr Kim that he should find someone else. I asked the driver to stop the car, but Mr Kim told the driver not to.
“I know you have been suspended from your current job. Even if you resign and find a new job, no one will hire you because of the ways you do things. Think about the job offer and get back to me,” said Mr Kim as he handed me a name card.
After taking the name card, the driver stopped the car at a bus stop. I alighted the car as the driver drove off. I looked at the name card and was impressed by how nice it was. I placed the name card in my wallet and boarded the bus once it arrived.
Author’s POV
School had just ended. Olivia was packing her bag when she was approached by Dae Hwi who asked her if she wanted to go study with him. Olivia gave a short thought and nodded her head. Dae Hwi asked two other students, Chen le and Si Eun, to join them. The two students agreed as they left the school and headed to the nearby café to study. Once they arrived at the café, they took their seats and ordered their drinks. They then started to study on the homework given to them earlier.
Olivia’s POV
We started to work on our math homework. The homework was on solving questions on quadratic functions. My math was not that bad, but I tend to make minor mistakes. There was this question that stumped me, which made me ask Chen Le for help. Chen Le looked at the question and started to teach me how to do it. Not going to lie, he looks cute.
“And that is how we answer the question. Er, Olivia? Can you hear me?” said Chen Le, who waved his hands at me.
I quickly snapped out of staring and nodded my head. He then asked me again if I understood what he said. I just nodded my head, not wanting to ask any more questions. Somehow, I managed to answer the question without any problems. After we continued to study for the next two hours, we decided to head home. As we were about to go our separate ways, Chen Le approached me.
“I can walk you home since we are walking in the same direction,” he said, showing a nice smile.
“Alright,” I said.
We started to walk in the same direction. As we walked, Chen Le and I did not exchange any words. It was only when I arrived at my home that we said our good-byes. As I was about to walk up, Chen Le stopped me and asked if we could hang out alone.
“I’ll think about it,” I answered, walking up without looking up.
Chen Le’s POV
Watching Olivia walk up to her home, I sighed and walked back home. I wanted to ask her out on a date, but I was too afraid to ask the question properly. I decided that I should have the courage to ask her again whenever we are alone together.
Author’s POV
After Olivia entered her home, she went straight to her room. Olivia placed her bag on the floor and changed into her home clothes. Olivia went through her drawer and took out a pack of cigarettes. Olivia quietly left the house and went downstairs to smoke. As she was about to take out one stick, she was stopped by someone. She looked at the person and realized the person was Chen Le.
“What are you doing? Don’t you know it is illegal for you to smoke at this age? Furthermore, smoking is bad for you,” said Chen Le.
“What are you doing here? It’s none of your business. Leave me alone,” said Olivia, feeling irritated.
A few Minutes ago…
After Chen Le walked for a few minutes, he felt that he should take the courage to ask her out on a date. This made him turn back and walk towards where Olivia stayed. Once he arrived, he decided to stand at one corner to see if she would come down. After waiting for a few minutes, he saw Olivia walking down. Olivia had changed into her home clothes and when he saw her taking out a cigarette, he decided to intervene.
“Come on Olivia, smoking is a bad habit. You should really stop,” Chen Le shouted at Olivia, taking the cigarette from her and throwing it away.
Chen Le’s action irritated Olivia, making her slap him. The slap surprised Chen Le that he tried to talk, only to see Olivia walk away. After seeing her walk back to her home, Chen Le sighed and walked back home with his head lowered.
Olivia’s POV
I walked back to my home and slammed the door real hard. I went straight to my room and started to kick things around. I just do not understand why Chen Le must get in my way. I know smoking was a bad habit, but I just cannot quit. I opened the window of my bedroom and lit up a cigarette. I took a puff of the cigarette and I felt much better. It seemed to have helped me forget what happened earlier.
Author’s POV
A few hours later, Eunseo returned home from her work. When she entered the house, she could smell the smell of nicotine. This made her try to look for Olivia who was sleeping in her room. This made her wake Olivia up, asking her if she was smoking. Olivia stood up, shaking her head before laying down. Eunseo was irritated that she hit Olivia, telling her to stop lying. Olivia got up and stared at Eunseo.
“I told you already unnie, I did not smoke,” Olivia shouted.
“Then why do I smell nicotine in the house?” Eunseo shouted back.
Eunseo then started to search the room. Olivia tried to stop Eunseo but failed. After searching the room for a minute, Eunseo managed to find a pack of cigarettes hidden in a drawer. Eunseo became furious at the finding and asked Olivia why the pack was found inside her drawer. Olivia did not answer and covered herself with the blanket.
“Get up and answer me,” Eunseo shouted, pulling the blanket away.
“Alright! I started smoking a few years ago. I am so stressed up that my middle school classmate encouraged me to try smoking. I just can’t quit cause it helped me forget all the problems I went through,” Olivia confessed, taking the pack from Eunseo.
Eunseo’s POV
Hearing what Olivia said made me so angry that I hit her hard on the head. Olivia tried to stop me, but I smacked her even harder that she shouted back at me.
“I hate you unnie! Why can’t you leave me alone? It’s because of you that mum and dad died,” Olivia shouted, as she walked out of the room and out of the house.
Hearing what Olivia just said hurt my heart. I knelt on the floor and started to cry. All I wanted was to be a good unnie for Olivia, but she had to say those nasty words to me.
Author’s POV
A few days later, Y/N rode his motorcycle to east coast park. Once he arrived, he sat on top of a breakwater and looked out into the sea. As he looked out, he wondered what job he should do next. A person soon approached him who turned out to be Alex. The two men shook hands, as Alex asked Y/N how he was doing.
“Not too bad. I am just not too sure what to do next,” said Y/N, sighing.
“Don’t worry Y/N. I believe you will be able to find something that you want to do,” said Alex.
Y/N laughed and told Alex what happened a few days back. Alex was surprised by the story in which Y/N took out the name card and showed it to Alex. Looking at the name card, Alex asked Y/N if he had contacted the person. Y/N shook his head, explaining that he was considering other options.
