Authour POV
The story goes that Y/N is a Singapore Air Force pilot, joining 2 years after he finished his national service. The moment Y/N entered the Airforce, he was liked by his officers in the beginning until he was able to fly a F18 and went to Top Gun (United States Navy Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor program) for special training. It was during the training where he met Captain Pete "Maverick" Mitchell and became a totally different person. He did things that were so similar to Maverick that his officers did not like it.

Meanwhile in South Korea, the owner of SK high school had a meeting with the school board and teaching staff. The owner was not happy with how the school was run and most of the students who graduated could not even enroll for university. Worse still, students who took the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) did not achieve a 35% pass rate.
“The mayor of Seoul just called me last night. If the pass rate for the College Scholastic Ability Test is not above 70%, the school will be handed over to the government. We better think of a solution to fix this. I have already fired the principal last night,” said the owner, Mr Kim.
The announcement from the owner surprised the staff as they quickly discussed what they had to do next. The owner soon became impatient and told the staff to leave. As all the staff started to leave, one of his advisors suggested he should hire someone who was not a Korean to be a principal.
“You think it’s a good idea?” said the owner.
“Yes sir. At least the person won’t be so biassed and may do things differently,” said the advisor.
The owner nodded his head and ordered the advisor to look for a suitable person which he understood.

Back in Singapore, it was a regular training day for Y/N. He arrived early as usual and was suited up for a training flight. Y/N decided to head to the aeroplane shed to get ready.
Y/N’s POV
Another training today. Looks like we are going to try to shoot each other down. It should be easy if my partner does not screw up. When I arrived at the aeroplane shed, my partner was already here. He looks ready. Hopefully he does not complain too much after we finish our training exercise.
“Hey Aloysius. You are early today,” I said.
“Of course, Y/N. Being early is better than being on time,” Aloysius replied to me.
Not going to lie, the way he talked can be hilarious. We went for a briefing and when we were done, we went straight to the cockpit of the F18 to get ready. I started up the engines as Aloysius checked the systems. Once Aloysius gave me all clear, I flew the plane out of the shed and towards the runway.
“Tower, Foxtrot 18 ready for take-off,” I said to the tower.
“Foxtrot 18, you are clear of take-off,” the tower replied to me.
I smiled and pushed the throttles. The F18 sped up and took off. We were airborne in less than a minute. Once in the air, I circled the aircraft around the borders of Singapore to avoid entering other countries’ airspace. Soon, my other colleagues’ aircrafts were in the air. The instructions from our commander where to “shoot” each other down in a 2v2 battle situation.
“Alright gentlemen, training starts now. Do not do anything stupid,” said the officer in charge, James.
“You heard the orders, Aloysius? Do not do anything stupid,” I said to Aloysius.
“I hope you don’t,” Aloysius said to me, feeling anxious.
I reassured him as we were spotted by our “enemy”. Aloysius advised me to be careful as I flew the plane towards one direction. The enemy tried to shoot us down but failed. I flew the plane in a few difficult manoeuvres which made Aloysius slightly irritated. It just so happened that my plane flew above several high-rise buildings and people inside the building were surprised.
“Y/N, the “enemy” is getting closer. We must try to shoot him down if not we will get shot down,” Aloysius shouted.
“Can’t you see what I am trying to do?” I replied.
I was irritated by his shouting that I decided to do something that was not taught in the book. Without any warning, I pulled back the throttle and pulled the F18 towards the sky. The enemy did the same but when the plane finally lost speed, I turned the plane’s nose towards the enemy and aimed at the enemy and pressed the fire button. The other enemy was taken down by my buddy F16 pilot as we did our practice and was told to return to base. Once we returned to the base, I parked the plane back to the shed and exited the plane. I hi-fived Aloysius but he did not seem happy, I wonder why.
Lia’s POV
I went to school with my unnie Arin every day. My relatives told me that the school we go to is a prestigious school. That was what they said. When I joined, the school was already in a mess. My parents were a high school couple in the school that was why me and Arin unnie are studying here. I honestly wanted to study elsewhere but I have no say to the school I want. Once we entered the school, we had to be careful as there were male students behaving like hooligans.
“Unnie, can’t you tell mum and dad to allow us to transfer to another school?” I asked her.
“I did tell them, they just said no. Furthermore, they are friends with the owner. There is nothing we can do,” said Arin unnie, as she sighed.
I also sighed, knowing that it was fruitless to ask for a transfer. There is one thing in school that I know. My class president, Soo-bin, has a crush on Arin unnie. It was so obvious from the beginning when unnie came to look for me at the canteen. I still remember during the first year, he constantly tried to ask me for her number which I refused. Seriously, it took him till the end of our first year for him to speak to her one to one. Also, he had not asked her out for a date or confessed that he liked her.
Arin’s POV
Me and Lia went to our respective classrooms, and I took my seat next to Mashiro. Mashiro always said hi to me even though she was an introvert like me. We are close to two of our classmates, Yohan and Wooyoung. The two boys are nice, just that Yohan is quite mischievous.
“Hey Arin, do you want to have lunch after school?” Mashiro asked me.
“Sure! The store that sells Ramen?” I asked Mashiro.
Mashiro nodded her head as the two boys overheard us and asked if they could join. I gave the thumbs up to the two boys as they high-fived each other.
“Yohan, you will be treating us later, right?” Mashiro asked Yohan.
I giggled at Mashiro’s request as Yohan sighed and agreed. After Yohan agreed, our homeroom teacher entered the classroom. I ordered the class to stand up to greet the teacher but most of them do not really care. We call her Miss Ahn. She was a nice teacher, but our classmates took advantage of her kindness and did not respect her.
“Alright class, please ensure that you listen to today’s classes alright?” said Mrs Ahn.
Apparently, some of us responded to her but she still smiled. After seeing her exit the class, the classroom became noisy again.
Y/N’s POV
I headed straight to the training shed to observe the other pilots do their training. After the rest of the pilots finished their training, the commanding officer debriefed us. After the debriefing, we were told to clean our aircrafts before heading out for lunch. Before I could walk back to the airplane shed, the commanding officer by the name of Captain Tham requested to speak to me. I nodded my head and followed him to his office. Once in the office, the officer took his seat while I stood up.
“About today’s training exercise, you did a good job but the stunt you pulled was too dangerous and it could have ended in disaster,” said Captain Tham.
“I understand where you are coming from sir. I just did it to ensure I can take down my enemy first,” I explained.
Captain Tham did not buy my explanation and hit the table real hard. This was when I knew I was in trouble. I was about to say something when the officer told me that I would be suspended indefinitely.
“What? Suspended? Come on sir, you can’t be serious,” I said.
“Does it look like I am joking? You’ve pulled this stunt many times since you came back from Top Gun. The F18 isn’t your toy to play with. Now pack your stuff and leave,” Captain Tham ordered.
I soon became angry and walked out of his office. As I walked to the locker room, Alex Ong approached me and asked if I was alright. I nodded my head and tried to walk off, but Alex stopped me.
