Mina’s apartment: later that day.
I walked into Mina’s building. Me and the security guard met eyes and he gave me a small nod.
He must think I live here now.
I stood in the elevator trying and failing to control my heart rate with deep breaths.
Normally I’d feel worried or anxious but none of that was here.
I just felt.
Momentum.
A pull towards something. Towards her.
The elevator doors opened and my legs moved forward.
No hesitation.
I knocked on the door.
She answered quickly.
She looked like she was just out of the shower. Hair a little wet still wearing shorts and an old band shirt that suspiciously went missing from your wardrobe a long time ago.
“Oh good, you didn’t bring more snacks. We still have so much from last night.” She laughed letting me in.
“You better have not touched my chips Minari.” I quipped.
“My house, my rules. Also you left them therefore they’re mine.”
“You’re playing a dangerous game, Mitan.” I said with no bite in it.
“Thanks for having me over again.”
“Yeah always. What brings you over this time?”
“I just wanted to see you.” I said simply, giving her a smile.
She paused, maybe expecting a joke or deflection.
She didn’t get it.
Because I did miss her.
She blushed.
“You’re dangerous Oppa.”
“Coffee or tea?” She asked.
“Tea.”
She turned and started working in the kitchen.
“Mitan, I’m going to use your restroom ok?”
“Mhm help yourself.”
A couple minutes later I found myself in the hall in front of my sketches again.
I froze.
I spotted the one I had drawn that day on the balcony. The sketch of the morning we spent together watching the sun rise over Seoul. Where we fought over what I drew.
The first time we almost…
It was as if something finally unlocked in my mind.
Mina was always like this.
Always looking at me and meeting me where I was.
Always waiting for me to give myself fully.
It’s like seeing for the first time.
All the shared moments.
The quiet days together.
This isn’t new, it’s always been here.
My legs started moving forward.
Toward her.
She was in the kitchen, her back turned to me, setting something on the kitchen island.
“Oppa I have some pastries I got from that place down the street—“
“Mina.”
I gently placed my hand on her shoulder.
She turned around and I stepped closer.
My hands slid down her arms taking her hands into mine.
