Welcome to Lecture 1, hey, that student in the back? Please don’t sleep in my class, I’m doing all this for your own good. Thank you.

First of all, let me introduce WHAT exactly is a photocard, and WHY it is an essential part of Fanprose. Many of you are having your tablets out for note, hmm, good boys. I like students when they pay attention to me.

    Definition 01:

A Photocard is a photo on a card.

I believe that is a rather straight forward definition of what a photocard is, so I am not going to elaborate too much on that. The reason why the photocard system is crucial to our community is that:

    • Who doesn’t like pretty girls?

    • Who doesn’t want to have a full wall of featured cards of your bias?

    (like this:)

    • It promotes interactions with other users and their works.

    • It discourages lurking. A BAD example is a past student I've had, named dimp1ez. This guy has single digit of posts on Tumblr since his debut. What a ghost! Fortunately, I trained him well, he now knows how to drop in-line comments and interact with people on Fanprose.

    • It ignites your gambling addiction. Imagine you see a stunning Photocard like this:

How can you not all-in your Common cards into the Wisdom shrine and pray the luck is on your side? However, 99% of time, you will see this in return!

That’s why we need STRATEGIES! (Which I will be covering in further chapters)

Now, let me give a list of different "TIERS” of photocards on Fanprose.

    Definition 02:

The Tier of a photocard is a measurement of it’s rarity.

So class, let’s look at this definition here. It explains itself pretty thoroughly, I think. Just like many other games out there, there’re certain photocards that are more difficult to acquire compared to others!

    Example 01:

    Wait, wait, wait!

Who uploaded the picture of ME to the site?! You’d better not get caught by me, otherwise I’m definitely gonna give you an F for the grade. (Sigh) Naughty boys.

But since we’re already here, you can see how there are FOUR tiers of An Yujin photocards displayed above. Starting from the left: they are: Epic, Rare, Uncommon and Common.

    WARNING:

The number after the name denotes the ORDER of release, and it does NOT denote the rarity.

A more comprehensive way to check the rarity of a photocard is the color-code AND the text description.

Example 02: This is a photocard with Rarity = Legendary as you can both see from the Color (Red) and the text description. By the way, I look good in this picture, aren’t I? Hehehe~

    Exercise 01:

Discuss amongst yourselves, what is the rarity of this photocard below?

Alrighty, I believe yall are smart kids so I’m pretty certain that you knew the answer to the Exercise above! There are nothing TOO special about this chapter, so I am just going to give you a list of all rarities possible on Fanprose and their respective color codes.

    From HIGHEST to LOWEST rarity:

    1. ONE-OF-A-KIND: As the name suggests, it is only available by Prompt Events or if you are a Beta-Tester when Fanprose was initially launched back in March. So please, do not ask for dimp1ez’s Liz in the Trades! They’re not tradable.

    2. Secret: As the name suggests, this tier is ONLY available from the Wisdom Shrine.

    3. Celestial (White): ONLY obtainable from the newly added (April 23rd, 2026) Shrine of Success.

    4. Cosmic (Very Red): The current highest tier of cards you can DROP or SHRINE.

    5. Ethereal (Purple)

    6. Legendary (Pink-ish Red)

    7. Epic (Gold)

    8. Rare (Blue)

    9. Uncommon (Green)

    10. Common (White)

    (EXAMPLES Excluded)

So, my dear students? I believe yall now have a basic understanding on the different tiers of the photocards. Next lecture, I will be covering the “QUALITY” of photocards, which is another essential measure of a PC’s value. Until then, take care and you’re free to go.
