Tzuyu waited patiently on the end of the bed, pushing her thumbs together as she waited for Jeongyeon to get out of the bathroom.
It recently occurred to them that no one was prepared for this day. Jihyo definitely was. Jeongyeon played it cool up until the day itself and she started constantly going in and out of the bathroom, sweating profusely in her suit.
Chaeyoung, Dahyun and Tzuyu had been staying close by, keeping an eye out on their friend in case something happened. Nayeon already proposed a way to get Jeongyeon out of her wedding jitters, claiming that this was a solid way to help their friend, and everyone agreed.
So at the moment, Tzuyu, with the best of her abilities, was going to make sure their friend didn’t escape through the window each time she entered the bathroom.
After what felt like more than ten minutes, Jeongyeon suddenly rushed out of the bathroom again, hands carding through her hair. “Okay, I’m freaking out.”
She immediately shot out from the bed to grab Jeongyeon by her blazer, raising her hand and forming it into a fist. “I’ll do it, don’t test me.”
Jeongyeon was taken aback, eyes wide and raised both of her hands. “Okay, okay! Don’t hit me!”
Chaeyoung and Dahyun rushed inside the room all of a sudden, holding their fists up as well. “Was she going to bail?!”
“No, you fucking losers! I just said I was freaking out!” Jeongyeon tried to fix her blazer and then took a deep breath. “Maybe I shouldn’t have agreed on that suggestion Nayeon gave. I might end up getting beaten up on my wedding day.”
Dahyun shrugged. “My wife has her weird ways. I’m glad she never thought of that during our wedding.”
“That’s because you’re too whipped and too much of a pussy to actually walk out on her,” Chaeyoung said jokingly, as Dahyun rolled her eyes at her. Then the shorter friend grabbed Jeongyeon. “But are you okay? What do you need?”
Jeongyeon took a deep breath and nodded at her friends. “I think I’m okay.”
“Well, you’re doing better than Dubs,” Chaeyoung said, chuckling. “Bitch almost passed out before and during the wedding.”
“I was tempted to hold her up while Nayeon was saying her vows.” Tzuyu chimed in and then looked at Dahyun, who was blushing hard. “You have any wise advice for Jeong?”
“Yeah, you’ve gone through this before,” Jeongyeon said, looking eagerly at Dahyun, still trying to shake off the nerves. “How’d you get over this?”
Before Dahyun responded to Jeongyeon, she pointed a finger out at them. “In my defense, I was really nervous at that time. It’s not everyday you get to marry your soulmate.” Then she let out a long sigh, looking at Jeongyeon. “Asides from the fact that I almost passed out several times during my wedding day, your worries kinda disappear when you see the love of your life in her wedding dress, smiling widely at you as she walks down the aisle,” she said with a soft smile on her face, then she looked at Jeongyeon. “You love Jihyo, and you’ll always be reminded by the love you guys have. It’s irreplaceable and this is gonna be the start of the greatest adventure of your life.”
Jeongyeon took another deep breath and then she smiled back, like she knew exactly what Dahyun was saying. “Thanks, Dubs.” Then she grabbed everyone into a hug. “God, I love you guys.”
They all hugged her back and then Chaeyoung, being in the middle of it, tried to wriggle herself out. “Alright, that’s enough sappiness for one day and the wedding hasn’t even started.”
Suddenly they heard hurried footsteps from outside their room and Nayeon barged in, a bit breathless but she looked absolutely stunning.
“Wow,” Tzuyu said with big eyes. “Unnie, you look gorgeous.”
Nayeon was about to say something, but the compliment coming from Tzuyu made her stop and she beamed. She quickly laid a soft kiss on her cheek and then brushed her cheek gently with her thumb, smiling at her and that made Tzuyu's heart warm up.
“Hey! How come I didn't get a loving kiss when I said you were beautiful earlier?” Dahyun furrowed her brows and pouted at her wife, Nayeon rolled her eyes.
“Oh hush, babe. I love the compliments,” she said then she looked at the wall clock. “But anyway, everyone is basically here so we gotta get our asses to the garden now.”
Dahyun immediately rushed to Nayeon’s side and offered her elbow for her wife to hold. “Then let’s go.”
“Yeah, I gotta check on Mina and Yuki,” Chaeyoung said as she walked towards the door as well, then the three friends made their way outside of Jeongyeon’s room.
Tzuyu was about to make her leave, but she stopped and looked at Jeongyeon. “You sure you’re okay?”
Jeongyeon took another deep breath and slowly nodded. “Yeah, I am.” Then she wrapped her arm around Tzuyu. “Let’s go.”
Tzuyu only realized too late that she hated walking down the aisle. The fact that she had to walk alone this time made her even more anxious than ever. Though she caught herself remembering the same thing years ago, she had Sana holding her on one arm and they were smiling at everyone that was watching them, whispering little things to make them less nervous than they were.
She had to smile, despite feeling somewhat empty inside. It took a lot for her to not look through the people that were on each side, looking at her walk towards the floral arc to position herself next to Dahyun. She was hoping to see Sana, but at the same time she also tried her best not to because she would just feel extremely awful if she realized that Sana wasn’t there.
So as she walked, feeling all eyes on her, hearing the cameras clicking and the small mumbles from the guests. She just looked forward, fighting the nervousness that was inside her chest and she just had to remember not to step on her feet during the process.
“If I fall on my dress, which I know I would, you have to catch me okay?” She remembered Sana’s words from years ago and that made her smile.
“Good job,” Dahyun whispered to her as she finally made it next to her. “I was worried you were gonna look like a zombie while walking but that smile at the end made everyone ogle at you.”
Tzuyu chuckled. “Sorry, just a lot in my mind right now.”
Dahyun nodded, then Chaeyoung nudged her which made Dahyun look ahead in the crowd. Everyone was mumbling louder when Jeongyeon finally made it to the start of the aisle. Tzuyu couldn’t help but smile, seeing her friend so happy to reach this moment in her life. She was excited for her and Jihyo, this was something that they both wanted for so long and it just felt surreal that it was finally happening.
As Tzuyu watched Jeongyeon walk down the aisle with both parents beside her, Dahyun leaned to her. “I wanna apologize to you, Tzu.”
“Same here,” Chaeyoung said, leaning towards them as well.
Tzuyu raised her brow, looking at her friends in confusion. “Okay? For what?”
“We've been lying to you since yesterday. Mina feels horrible about it,” Chaeyoung whispered, watching Jeongyeon finally wait in her spot, looking out at the entrance for Jihyo.
“Well… Nayeon was fine with lying but it worked,” Dahyun suddenly said and then she lifted her finger to one spot in the crowd, Tzuyu followed it and she looked at the people already standing when the music started playing. “In our defense, we only knew yesterday morning,” Dahyun quickly added.
She saw Mina and Yukiko, smiling at her for some reason and then they turned their heads when they saw Jihyo’s parents waiting by the aisle for her. Tzuyu looked closer, wanting to watch Jihyo’s entrance but before she could look away, she saw her.
Sana was standing right next to Yukiko, smiling widely at her and that made Tzuyu’s world stop.
She was here.
The sounds of the piano started playing loudly, Jihyo already arrived, and everyone looked back to watch her, but Sana was the only one who wasn’t.
Sana was there. Smiling at Tzuyu, and she was crying.
Tzuyu felt the air leave her lungs when everything was being registered in her brain.
“She’s here,” she said silently.
She almost took a step forward, but Dahyun grabbed her arm to stop her. “Not now, after the wedding.”
Tzuyu glanced at Jihyo, who was absolutely ethereal in her wedding dress and as much as she wanted to appreciate the sight and the moment, she couldn’t stop looking at Sana. Without thinking, Tzuyu raised her hand and waved at her, mouthing a hello and Sana waved at her back, wiping the tears from her eyes.
She was here.
After the wedding, Tzuyu did everything to look for Sana but for some bizarre reason, she couldn’t find her. Mina and Nayeon came up to her and apologized for lying to her, but they said that she should wait until the reception to talk to Sana. It wasn’t like Tzuyu to argue with them, so she complied. Maybe Sana needed time to compose herself before they could finally talk.
