Some insider information about a fun little project I posted recently: https://fanprose.com/stories/one-week
Alright, this needs to be cleared up because I’ve already been made fun of for it. This project was never supposed to be written in one week! That wasn’t the intention! The initial release timeline was supposed to be one chapter per week, with the story taking place over exactly one week — that’s why the title is what it is.
Now, obviously is not how it turned out.
Well, actually, it kinda did if you average it out. Anyway, not important.
The whole project was actually a bit of a self-challenge. Look, I’ve been writing for years now (on and off), with this much experience comes a lot of self-doubt. I feel like I really embody the idea that you are your own biggest critic. I hate on my writing in ways that I could never in my life fathom hating on another author’s writing (the wording of this sentence feels off, but you get my point). Alongside that nitpicking habit comes the curse of sitting in what I like to call draft-hell. I know I’m not alone here, I know other authors who also have like fifty drafts in their docs.
You guys have no idea how many times I’ve adjusted plans for stories… it’s exhausting at times, and I wouldn’t even say I’m a perfectionist!
So, how does One Week come into play? I gave myself a few rules. Write. Don’t overthink. Don’t expect perfection. Just write and hit that stupid post button. I promised myself I wouldn’t get too hung up on parts that I didn’t like (I’ll address some of them later in this post), it’s just a bit of writing practice anyway.
Most of the chapters were written in one sitting, and I didn’t spend very much time plotting out the overall story.
Is it my best work? Most definitely not! Am I happy with what I managed to put out into the world? Somewhat! Either way, it’s something that I’d consider a necessary challenge to promote growth as an author.
Alright, now let’s get onto the first topic.
Deleting Chapters
Yes, I know, it was an entirely unnecessary decision. For those of you who didn’t catch the start, I was initially deleting each chapter after around one week of it being posted. It was to play on the whole “one week” concept and theme where the story takes place over one week and you also only get one week to read each chapter before it goes POOF.
Why?
I actually got the idea from a YouTube video. It was titled along the lines of “This video will be deleted after 24 hours” or something like that. I thought it was kinda poetic in a way, knowing that a story is only there for temporary enjoyment before it becomes nothing more than a memory.
That’s kinda what I was trying to sell, at least. Truthfully, I was always planning on relisting it (for those of you who read the last entry in my little diary here, you’d know how much I dislike when stories get deleted). I don’t actually have the heart to deny people who might enjoy the story, and that’s also why I was sharing the unlisted link with people who asked.
The References
So, this was honestly just a nod to my own works for my own personal… satisfaction? I also wanted it to be a very small treat for those of you who are among my more dedicated fans (I love you guys the most). I’ve always been a fan of throwing little Easter eggs and references into my stories.
For those of you who followed me back on that other website where I was posting before Fanprose, you might remember an Anthology that I had going called “Roommates”. The entire premise of that one was that each story was able to be read independently, but if you read all of them you’d catch a bunch of fun details. If I can find the time, I will definitely be reworking that concept and posting it over here on Fanprose, but I have other projects taking priority first!
Now, if you don’t want some small spoilers for the referenced stories, skip to the next header. I’m going to share which story was referenced in each chapter. I’ll add a little spacer here:
The Rules: a very loose reference to the biggest love triangle in CUM2A (Karina and Chaewon).
Day One: this is actually just straight up the same Wonyoung from Jamboree (a story I’m going to remaster soon actually and finish up here on Fanprose).
Day Two: Kazuha massage scene is upcoming in the first act of the Dating Seraphs remaster, right after Chaewon gets her steamy scene to open the series up. Potentially in chapter three.
Day Three: So I have a draft of pure BFH smut that is a bit of a “pick your own adventure” where the Twice members are running a brothel. Nayeon, Momo, Sana, Mina, and Tzuyu were all going to get chapters, while the other five members got small scenes in the intro. It was supposed to just be a bit of smut writing practice with different dynamics, Tzuyu being the ultimate sub.
Day Four: This one’s a bit unfortunate because I’ve sidelined Roommates for the time being, but the referenced chapter was actually supposed to be released already. Sorry to my Itzy lovers, you’ll have to wait to see more Yeji x Yuna scenes from me.
Day Five: Another unreleased draft I have sitting on my shelf. The plot for this one is you go to a rave with some of the Le Sserafim girls, end up in a bit of a bad spot, and then Sakura finds you and saves your night. That’s why Sakura was such a caring type in this chapter. Honestly, I kinda loved how I wrote Sakura’s character, so I might have to dust off this draft.
Day Six: This one was supposed to tease the next CUM2A chapter, but I ended up releasing it beforehand. Either way, Sooin has been on my mind lately and I just want her to beat me up.
Day Seven: I’m sure everyone who knows how I started writing (go read part one) knows what this chapter is referencing. TPM’s Momo… I wonder if I’m ever going to finish that story…
Breakdown
I was initially going to go chapter by chapter and complain about everything I hated, but on second thought maybe I’ll just skim through the story and point out some sections.
OBVIOUSLY MORE SPOILERS AHEAD.
Let’s start with the first part that I’m not super happy with — the opening scene. That’s right, I was disappointed in myself since the first line! Isn’t being an author fun?
From the first line up until Yunjin comes in and stops time, I just don’t feel like I captured the vibe well enough. For one, it’s way too short, I didn’t get to flesh out that environment where a bunch of friends are out and getting dinner together, multiple conversations going on, drinks being drank, laughs everywhere, and then in the middle of the buzzing is you and Karina having a cute little moment, ignoring the commotion around you.
That’s the vibe I had in mind for the scene. I wanted it to be all like nothing matters other than the beautiful Karina sitting there, and all you’re doing is cutely feeding her while she laughs at your jokes and you stare at her while she butters up her bread and stuff, you know how it be with that young love.
Then, I wanted a music-stop “oh fuck” moment when Chaewon shows up. Something akin to that Social Network scene where the nerd goes up to the girl he was with at the start of the movie and then kinda ruins her vibe… different setup obviously but that’s the vibe I was going for (I love abusing the word “vibe”).
I don’t actually hate how I wrote the Chaewon and Karina tag team, I just think it’s too short of a scene. The rest of the scene is alright, I don’t think I fully had the Yunjin twist at the end planned all the way yet, so I missed some opportunities to foreshadow it better here. It’s a bit of a catch22 because the whole point of this story was that I didn’t spend too much time planning stuff, I know.
Day One, honestly, I’m not too upset with this chapter. Looking back at it obviously I feel like I could’ve polished up the sex a bit more, but for the most part I’m not too upset! A rare victory for me, I guess.
Day Two, okay so it’s not really a “disappointment” — in fact, I’m changing the name of this section to "breakdown” instead — it’s just an alternative plot. I didn’t take any notes for this series so my memory is a bit hazy, but the other version of the Kazuha massage scene was supposed to be with her knowing the massage place is designed for couples to do their thing.
So after they get the massage and the staff leaves them alone, OC was going to get all confused as to why Kazuha is so open to being naked in front of him. Then, Kazuha would reveal that she knows this massage plays is a glorified love hotel, and that she agreed to the massage under the assumption that they’d be having sex.
There was also supposed to be some realization on the OC’s part that Wonyoung booked this with the obvious hopes that the OC would ask her to come with him, furthering the narrative that the OC is an idiot.
Regardless, I actually like the cute and slightly shy Kazuha I ended up with.
Day Three, this ones mostly fine as well! It was just smutty without trying too hard to be something else. All I’ll say is that I did have a second version of this chapter where the OC still has the same performance issue, but Tzuyu tries to fix it by bringing in one of the other Twice members. I was going to write some sort of Tzuyu x Sana (or Mina) double blowjob type of scene, but I decided against it.
Day Four, potentially my favorite chapter. I don’t know, I just love the whole party plot with the drunk OC doing stupid stuff like climbing the house in a panic. I liked the whole thing with Kazuha being there because it implied Yunjin was messing with him a bit. I enjoyed the little bait and switch with Yuna. I absolutely adored this version of Sakura, potentially my favorite character in the story (hard to say for sure, I love Yunjin’s fruit puns).
The only gripe I have with this chapter is that I didn’t write the Sakura sex scene. Eventually I’ll post an epilogue with it, because I wanted to write some sort of “fading in and out of consciousness while having the best sex of your life” type of scene. It was supposed to be practice for an upcoming CUM2A scene (spoiler I guess).
Day Five, you see the Yunjin intro scene for this one? Yeah, this is the scene I rewrote the most out of all the scenes in this story BY FAR. I lost count of how many iterations I went through, genuinely. This was such a big part of the plot for me because it was supposed to give so much insight on the OC’s past as well as the current state of his mind.
I’m not happy with how it turned out, and I’m also not willing to skim through it again right now. The only saving grace for this scene is the fact that my cantaloupe line has like the most inline comments out of anything I’ve ever written, I definitely giggled to myself a lot. Oh, the Seraph Pussy thing also made me giggle — yes I know I am stupid.
This was definitely the most difficult chapter for me. Outside of the Yunjin scene which I kinda hate, I’m mostly content with the Yeji and Yuna parts.
Day Six, yeah let’s be honest, this is the weakest chapter. It has its moments for sure, but I fully acknowledge it makes the least amount of sense. It was so bad, I almost considered swapping up the finale to make the reader question whether or not anything in the series is actually real or if it’s all just a fake mind game from Yunjin.
I obviously went against that approach in the end because a retcon where you hit the reader with “oh yeah, OC was in a dream” is super lazy. It’s only acceptable in my eyes if it’s pre-planned and not a plot device to fix an error.
