“I loved your cookies, by the way.”
The words kept playing in her head ever since that night and Minjeong wanted to hit her head on the first concrete wall she saw. She covered her face and tried to take deep breaths because she knew that it was making her very flustered.
She refused to be distracted in class by Jimin’s words, the soft smile, the mole sitting below her lower lip and the broody demeanor the woman had. Ever since their date, she was happy that the two were finally back to where they were since the beginning. But since she was able to be on a date with her neighbor, Minjeong couldn’t help but see things she didn’t notice before, or the ones that she chose to ignore.
Because she wasn’t going to deny the fact that Jimin was a beautiful woman. Long black hair, tall, a wonderful physique, the plump lips, the mole that was sitting prettily underneath them—
Minjeong shakes her head, she’s not going to spend the entire time in class fighting the instructive thoughts she has about her neighbor. It was just one date and even if they already spent another night together with their friends, Minjeong was telling herself that she wasn’t crushing on the woman, and all of this was just an opportunity for them to catch up on lost time.
But even if she had basically been in a relationship with one person in her life so far, she wasn’t naive. Minjeong knew the type of people she was attracted to.
It just didn't help that everything that she liked in a person, Jimin seemed to have effortlessly checked off everything. Because people would assume that Jeno was the standard for her attraction. But in reality, Jeno was just someone that was also her type.
It was just different because she fell in love with him, so everything about him was perfect for her.
With Jimin on the other hand, it somewhat felt like treading in dangerous waters. Maybe because of the uncertainty she had, due to her lack of experience in dating. With Jeno, they were young so the locks that were hiding his true self were easy to pick, easy to remove and easy to discover.
Jimin was a massive safe, with layers of doors and locks, hiding beneath the ground and Minjeong for some reason was standing in front of it, and it was opening itself for her to see. Maybe she was subconsciously opening them too, she wasn’t sure at this point.
Her neighbor was mysterious and aloof. The one thing she noted around the first time they met. Jimin gave short answers to her questions, but she always seemed to have paid attention to what Minjeong was telling her. She didn't go into details about her job, or about her personal life. The most she got was about her friends.
And since they had unlocked the horrible stage of being on a date together, things just changed and Minjeong wasn’t sure if she liked this change.
Because all of the things she noticed were hard to ignore, she was close to surrendering and admitting that she was in fact attracted to her neighbor.
Professor Kang started asking a question about their lesson, Minjeong snapped out of her deep thoughts and tried to concentrate.
Yeji was beside her, subtly nudging her and asking her if she was okay. Of course Minjeong was gonna say she was. She was not going to tell her friend that she had been battling with herself about her thoughts.
Thoughts about Jimin. And her cute face and the fact that Jimin loved her cookies.
She felt a blush creep into her face and tapped her cheeks with her palms to get it to stop. Yeji looked at her weirdly but decided to let her be.
Minjeong answered a few questions from the professor, she took down notes and tried to listen to the lecture. But there was a buzz coming from her pocket and she wanted to ignore it.
It came again because her phone liked to remind Minjeong that she had received a message. She was curious. Even more so because ever since the second hang out she had with Yizhuo, Aeri and Jimin, her best friend decided to make a group chat. Minjeong took it as an opportunity to get Jimin’s number since the latter didn’t offer nor did she bother asking for hers.
She tried to fight the thoughts that maybe Jimin messaged her at last. She sighed, she became very curious. Minjeong subtly took her phone out, tucking it under her desk and unlocked it.
She was somewhat disappointed when she saw the message was not from Jimin. But it was directed towards her, so she decided to reply.
1:45 PM
Uchinaga Aeri: Minjeong, don’t forget what we agreed on.
Kim Minjeong: Hahaha! I won’t, I promise :D
Ning Yizhuo: I want some too!
Kim Minjeong: You’re always a given.
Uchinaga Aeri: If you’re planning to give some to Jimin, please separate it. So she can eat her cookies on her own.
Uchinaga Aeri: In shame.
Yu Jimin: Fuck off.
Uchinaga Aeri: Rude.
Yu Jimin: But thank you in advance, Minjeong. I can’t wait for it. :D
Kim Minjeong: Of course. :)
“She’s such a dork,” Minjeong thought to herself, she could already imagine Jimin’s stupid smile and her cute dimple on her right cheek.
Minjeong didn’t realize she was smiling until Yeji nudged her again.
“Why are you smiling like an idiot?”
She immediately hid her phone and felt her face warm up. She quickly shook her head, “No, I’m not.”
Yeji raised a brow, then she glanced at the phone in her friend’s hand. “Wow, you only went on one date with that person and now you look like you’re in love or something.”
Minjeong slapped her friend, blushing harder now. She wasn’t in love with Jimin. She just didn't like being exposed like this.
“Shut up!” Minjeong hissed, trying her best not to raise her voice or she was going to get caught.
“Miss Kim, anything you want to share with the class?” Professor Kang asked out loud, looking at her with a cocked brow.
“No,” Minjeong responded dejectedly, then she glared at Yeji, “I hate you.”
Yeji giggled and shrugged at her.
“Ning, either you tortured Jeongie during that date or her date did,” Yeji said as she placed a couple of fries into her mouth. “She has been sighing to herself, looking flustered and angrily tweeting in her private account.”
Yizhuo jaw dropped and looked so offended, “Accept my follow request, you bitch! I need to know the tea as well! Aren’t we sisters?!”
Minjeong rolled her eyes at Yizhuo and then glared at Yeji, probably for the tenth time that day alone. “Okay, how about you mind your own business?” she scoffed. “As if I’m not shitting on you whenever your boo messages you and then you slap me out of nowhere!”
“But did the date go well?” Lia asked this time, successfully diverting the topic to somewhere else.
Minjeong blinked at their other friend, but she nodded, “Oh, yeah, it actually did,” she gave a shy smile. “Asides from finding out the blind date was actually my neighbor; it was pretty great.”
“For real?” Lia asked, with a bit of disbelief in her tone. Then she gestured something with her hands, “Is that the tall, police officer you mentioned before?”
Minjeong nodded.
“Is she cute?” Yeji asked this time, even more intrigued.
“I’m telling Ryujin!” Yizhuo almost shouted and Minjeong had to slap her to calm her down, since they were in a public place.
