“I can’t believe my sister isn’t single anymore!” Mingyu said out loud before he placed the food down in front of them on the table.
Jimin wasn’t sure what he meant by that, but she wasn’t able to give a reaction when Minjeong was already throwing a punch on his arm. Which probably felt like nothing to him.
Minjeong threw her head back. “Oh my god, get a life, you loser!”
Mingyu stuck his tongue out at her and Minjeong was about to threaten him with another hit on the arm, but he evaded her and then finally sat back down on his seat.
The sight made her smile. Seeing Minjeong be around her sibling was a nice change. A very rare sight to see since her family wasn’t from Seoul.
She recalled Minjeong talking about her brother here and there but didn’t bother showing her what he looked like. Which was fine because Jimin didn’t want to push that kind of information out of her.
Definitely why Jimin didn’t know who Mingyu was when he opened the door for her. It was still embarrassing but at least Minjeong cleared that out.
With her lips. And a confession.
Jimin wasn’t complaining.
Mingyu suddenly nudged her. “But hey, make yourself at home, okay?”
“This is my apartment,” Minjeong said back, clearly still annoyed by him.
“And I’m being a good host, excuse you.” He pointed at her and then smiled at Jimin. “Anyway, eat up, Jimin.”
She smiled back, bowing a bit. “Thank you, oppa.” She gave a tentative look at Minjeong, who looked a bit disgruntled by her brother’s antics, but that made her smile even wider. She held onto Minjeong’s hand underneath the table, and they looked at each other for a bit, hoping that it would ease whatever she was feeling.
Jimin hoped that it worked. This was a big moment for them, and even if she was supposed to be the one nervous because she was meeting someone from Minjeong’s family for the first time, she wanted to make sure that Minjeong was calm.
As they were busy eating, and Mingyu asked her a bunch of questions about herself, he was incredibly intrigued that she was a police officer. Asking her even more questions about her line of work.
“So, in the near future, when we finally become in-laws, does that mean I get to ride in a police car with you?” he asked eagerly, mouth still full of food.
Minjeong pointed at him with her chopsticks. “I will seriously kick you out of my apartment if you don’t shut up!”
He waved her off again. “Shush, baby girl. I’m not talking to you.”
Jimin let out a light-hearted laugh and smiled at him. “I’ll let you know, oppa.”
“Nice!”
Minjeong suddenly slapped her this time. “Stop encouraging him!”
And it wasn’t like she wanted to immediately reject Mingyu’s request. Because it was possible, the other officers did the same with their friends, but only because no one got caught doing something stupid. Honestly, just as long as Mingyu didn’t act exactly like Chandler in that one episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S, then she was sure it would be fine, and it would be safe.
But she didn’t like to be the reason why her girlfriend was riled up and upset. Then again, Jimin couldn’t help but bask in the moment because seeing Minjeong like this was even cuter than she imagined.
So maybe teasing her a little bit was fine. It was all in good fun. And because she wanted to see more of that pout, which she will alleviate in private with a soft kiss because she was finally allowed to do that.
In that exact moment, actually, she wanted to kiss Minjeong right then and there. But Jimin didn’t want to do it in front of her brother. Even if he did like her for Minjeong, she couldn’t help but imagine being chased down by him because she was inappropriately touching his baby sister.
She felt like it had happened before. It could be a dream or a daydream. She wasn’t sure. But she didn’t want to wait for it to actually come true.
“I’ll wash the dishes,” Jimin offered when they were finally done with their meal.
Mingyu was about to stop her, but Minjeong beat him to the punch. “No, Jimin, you’re a guest.”
She smiled. “But I always do that when I come over?” Minjeong was about to react, but her body decided to react to that first and blush. “You can clean the table and I’ll wash the dishes, okay?”
Minjeong didn’t respond, instead she nodded her head and helped with clearing the table out. Jimin happily started her duties, lucky that Mingyu didn’t stop her either.
But as she was rinsing out the plates, she felt a presence next to her and she looked up.
“But seriously though. My sister told me about you and I’m kinda glad that you guys are together,” he said with a warm smile. “She really likes you.”
That made her blush, copying the smile Mingyu gave her. She felt her chest grow warmer. “I’m glad.” Then she giggled. “All this time I thought it was just me who’s been feeling this way,” she said with a shrug. Then she placed the plates down for a moment to look at Mingyu seriously. “But I promise I’ll take good care of her.”
Mingyu smiled again, placing a hand on her shoulder. “I know you will.” Then he leaned a bit closer to whisper. “Just be careful—” he looked behind them and pointed at Minjeong, “—she bites.”
“I do not!”
“I told you.” They both chuckled and then Mingyu patted Jimin’s back again, letting out an exaggerated sigh. “Anyway, I’m also relieved I don’t have to deal with her that much. So, she’s in your hands now. I trust you, Jimin.”
“I’m honored.”
It was midnight, Mingyu was sleeping already in Minjeong’s bedroom, probably decided to head to bed after that bottle of soju he and Jimin shared. Minjeong and him already exchanged gifts so at least Jimin didn’t have to feel like she was intruding.
Jimin decided to still stay there, cuddling up close with Minjeong as her girlfriend fed her cookies.
Minjeong gave her cookies for Christmas. It was a common thing, but it probably was the best Christmas gift she had ever received in her life.
Plus, Minjeong was feeding it to her. How could she not enjoy that Christmas gift? Minjeong could give her home baked cookies for every occasion in her life and Jimin would always, without a doubt, be happier and happier each time she received them.
Nothing could compare to cookies that were made with love and by the person she loved as well.
A person she could freely love too. No more walking on eggshells around each other or trying to subtly hint her attraction or even denying the fact that she had feelings for her.
Everything was splayed out, no holds barred, no one to hold her back, not even herself. Jimin was wearing her heart on her sleeve again and she was exposing herself to the one person she learned to trust and love.
Unfortunately, said person jumped out of her lap mid-cookie bite and that made Jimin pout.
“Wait here,” Minjeong said but Jimin gently reached out and held a portion of her shirt, keeping her in place.
“Why?” she asked and pouted again.
Minjeong rolled her eyes endearingly, smiling and shaking her head. “Stop being so cute, I’m just gonna get something.”
Jimin’s brows furrowed. “Can’t that wait for later?”
Minjeong picked up her hand and kissed it before letting it go. “I’m gonna get your Christmas gift, hold on.” Then she finally walked away from the couch, beelining to her bedroom.
