Jordan, LeBron, Curry, Kobe These names are but few of the greatest NBA players the basketball world has seen and one player has the mindset to join those names. (YN) (LN), a top high school basketball player is shaping up to deliver that goal. So much so that that the country has set their sights on you including a specific k-pop group. And it seems fate has decided to bring the two together. How? Let's read, shall we?
Hello everyone, my name is Ace Vorrentis.
If you heard of me, great, if not, hello friends, I came from Wattpad/Tumblr and I’m seeing how this platform works to put my stories in as well, but really Wattpad seems to be a going down especially for k-pop fan fiction so hopefully this goes well.
I’ll be uploading chapters from Coach and other stories here time to time and if it goes well, great if not, oh well.
I will also be fixing up the chapters as I go along such as grammar mistakes, adding gifs/sentences and deleting/revising some parts, but not changing the story completely.
Thanks again!
"Alright guys, keep it up. We got this game!" Your coach was yelling along the sideline of the match.
Currently, the score was 92-101 in favor of your team.
It was the state finals and your team (TN) and the opposing team were in the last couple minutes of the game.
You were out on the court currently with your starting lineup, desperately trying to fight back.
When they came in your side of the court, a player went toward the paint, but you were there and swiped the ball from the air as he attempted a mid shot.
You stole the ball and ran to the other side of the court. However, their center was right next to you so you came up with a plan.
As soon as you were near their net, you pumped fake and fooled the center to jump and when he did…
THUMP
You also jumped causing him to collide into you.
WHHHRRR
The ref whistled his whistle to call a foul and then you threw the ball toward the net, which went in, resulting in an and one.
“YEAH!” “WOOO!” “(YN)!”
Your team cheered and so did the audience.
However, the cheering wasn’t just in the gym alone.
A group that is joining in on that is from all the way back in South Korea.
The ever most loved and one of the most popular K-pop groups Twice was currently watching your performance and when you got the and 1, they cheered loudly.
All nine members were watching your performance and they were ecstatic at the inevitable win.
Now it’s funny, Twice doesn't seem like the kind of group to watch or know a thing about basketball as the closest to them in sports was the Idol Stars but it was all thanks to Chaeyoung that they knew a thing or two about it.
FLASHBACK
Chaeyoung was casually going through channels through their living room TV since they were on break coming from a tour.
She randomly ended up watching some news about a blowout in a basketball match by 48 points and curiosity got the best of her since there was nothing else on.
So she decided to leave it on here and it then showed you being interviewed by a news reporter.
"What you watching?" Sana who was in the kitchen, grabbing a drink of water, before heading up but catching Chaeyoung watching the screen.
"Don’t know. Just something about him winning something." She pointed at the TV, Sana came to see.
"Is he famous?"
"I just put the channel on. But it’s something about basketball." Sana then sat with Chaeyoung to see what this is about.
“Basketball huh?”
And to any other language, they had their subtitles on.
"So (YN), today your team won by a wide margin of 48 points. Lately you’ve been dominating each game by blowout after blowout. What does that say about your team's skill?"
The reporter held the mic to you.
"It means what we're doing during training is working. Practice makes perfect and it clearly showed on that match. Though we can’t get too cocky about it. One game is one game and the next one could be us losing by 48." You replied as he brought the mic back to his.
"Now you’ve been constantly talked about as the one player to beat and how everyone should plan against you. And winning Player of the Year a few months ago, how do you handle everyone having their sights on you?"
"Again, it means what I’m doing in practice is working. I’m grateful for the recognition and all, but there’s only one award that I’ll want and it’s going to take the team to get that one trophy that matters. However, I can’t take the credit for getting this far alone. It’s in the efforts of my teammates that helped me get to where I am as well the coach. They’ve put the same amount of effort as I am and they deserve the same recognition and more."
"Player of the year? He must be really good then?" Sana said and Chaeyoung nodded.
"Well I won’t take much of your time (YN). Thank you for answering my questions,” you nodded as the reporter turned to the camera, “and remember, even though these are high school matches, his are being broadcasted live, so remember tomorrow against (Team Name) at (Time) at (Channel). This has been (Reporter Name) and (YN), two-time national champion. (YN) thanks for joining us."
"Thank you for the interview." You ended with a nod to him and at the camera before leaving the scene and eventually the commercials played.
"Two time?" Sana caught the ending, "he must be good then."
"Let me check." Chaeyoung picked up her phone that was on her side and proceeds to google you, "of course he's a basketball player. He plays in the states and he's won the state champion twice along with player of the year." Chaeyoung read being surprised by that, "and he's only eighteen."
"He’s young. So if he's that good, I wouldn't mind seeing him play tomorrow." Sana said and she got up and walked away.
"Sure," Chaeyoung said and kept a note on when the match starts.
THE NEXT DAY STILL FLASHBACK
Chaeyoung was at the couch waiting for the time to come around at your match since the time zones were different, but she did her research and turns out is a perfect time to watch your match.
Around 10:30 AM for them while your matches were at 6:30 PM.
She texted Sana if she still wanted to watch the match with her and instead of a reply, she heard someone coming down the stairs…
“I’m here,”
Sana plumped herself next to Chaeyoung as the players were being introduced and your name came up on the TV with your (#) on your jersey.
“Just in time.”
"There he is," Sana pointed out.
"What are you two watching?" A voice came from behind as both Sana and Chaeyoung looked behind to see Tzuyu and Dahyun coming down the stairs as well.
"Oh we're about to see this guy play basketball. Want to watch?" Chaeyoung asked.
"Basketball? I didn't know you two watched basketball?" Dahyun questioned them.
"We don’t. We're here to see him play." Sana said pointing at the TV which had your face being shown still.
Dahyun and Tzuyu looked at the screen and saw you standing in the line up.
"Why?" Tzuyu asked while sitting next to Sana.
"He’s supposedly really good. He's won two championships and he’s the best player of the year." Chaeyoung answered as Tzuyu looked onward.
"So then he must be really good." Dahyun said sitting next to Tzuyu.
“And we’re just about to watch him play.” Chaeyoung added as the ball was tipped off.
Throughout the match, the four girls were astonished by your talent.
You were shooting flawlessly, your passes made you seem to know where your allies were at all time, your speed to pass through defenders, and your handles were on another level even dropping one player to the floor and throughout all that, it didn't even look like you were tired at all.
A couple of sweat drops here and there, but you were playing like a one man army and in the end, it was a wipeout.
"So that's how good he is…" Sana said in shock as the others nodded without taking their eyes off the screen.
At the end, the result was 124-93 in your win, another blowout by 31 points and you went to congratulate each member of the opposing team on the game.
The match ended and the channel switch to another program which the girls turned off.
“Wow, he’s much better than the other players.” Dahyun pointed out.
“It’s like he wasn’t even trying. We have to watch his next match again. When is it?" Sana asked and Chaeyoung decided to research.
"Not in two days..." Chaeyoung answering as the other three nodded.
“Well remind us then. He’s really good.” Sana complimented.
One game led to another and as the games went by, the four were becoming quick fans of you.
They only watched three matches so far, but each performance by you were made the matches much more entertaining to them.
Eventually the four told the other members and they seemed interested to watch since you got these four members like this.
Eventually, four became nine.
Months later, they tried to watch each game possible and it was no wonder how your name was known.
FLASHBACK END
Which leads to now as they were watching you play your final high school match in the finals as the opposing team calls a timeout and watched you go back to your bench with your other teammates.
"He's going to win this, I mean look at the score." Nayeon pointed at the screen.
"Nayeon there's still a couple of mins left. It's not like he's won already." Jeongyeon countered as Momo turned to her.
"Have you seen the score, Jeongie? He's ahead by a gajillion points.”
"Well maybe not gajillion, but it’s also not by a lot." Mina brought her voice in.
"Soon to be 10 by...a...free throw right?" Tzuyu questioned as Jihyo nodded.
“Yup.”
Tzuyu smiled at herself being right.
As they watched, each of them learned to pick up the basics of basketball as they didn't know anything besides picking up the ball and shooting into a net.
But since watching your games, they were trying to learn to keep up with what's up and what was happening.
"They’re back." Chaeyoung said as the players walked back on court and you coming back to the free throw line.
The ref gave you the ball and you did your free throw ritual of shimmying your shoulders as you went down and then up as you shot the ball and…
SWISH
Now the score difference is by ten as the crowed roared along.
The audience, your team members and Twice were cheering on that you made it.
92 - 102 1:49 remaining
“See, he’s got this.” Nayeon waved it off.
You went back to defense and the opponents were in a hurry to score.
They kept passing to each other with screens being set up left and right and then out of nowhere, an opposing player shot a three in front of one of your teammates and...
SWISH
The crowd cheered and you silently swore at three.
95-102 1:38 remaining
“Oh come on, how was he that open?” Nayeon pointed at the screen.
“Well seven is still high,” Momo said as you brought the ball up.
Though the opponents changed how they played defense and now were double teaming you which made you harder to shoot, but it left one guy open on your team.
You found him quickly and threw the ball towards him and since he was wide open he shot a mid-range, but…
CLANK
He missed as it hit the rim and the opposing center rebounded the ball.
95- 102 1: 24 remaining
The audience were upset at this and so were Twice.
"He was wide open and he couldn't make that!? I could have made that!” Nayeon pointed at herself as Jihyo patted her shoulder.
“Why did (YN) even pass it?" Sana asked frustrated.
"Sana he had two people on him. His friend was wide open, it was the right thing, but…" Dahyun answered.
"I guess, but he still missed..." Sana replied with a pout.
The opponents then ran towards your side of the court and your team quickly came back and manage to get to your man, but like last time, quick movements and screens were around.
You then saw that one of the opposing players was rushing towards your net, as you pointed at the player, but it was too late as he caught a fast pass, with his defender behind him.
Your center jumped to attempt to block, but the player was doing the same thing that you did before, faking and jumped when your friend did...
WHISTLE
…and got called a foul.
Some of the girls showed disappointment at the foul, but their eyes widened as he threw the ball in the air to attempt to get the and one and unfortunately...
SWISH
"It’s in! He made it! (YN)'s team had a ten point lead just thirty seconds ago and now to potentially four!" The announcer of the game said as the crowd cheered or were stunned.
“He made that?” Momo leaned back in her cushion, “are you serious?”
"Come on! How could he fall for that?!" Nayeon shouted, "that's exactly what (YN) just did."
"The pressure is getting to them since they're trying not to lose this lead." Mina brought her idea in.
“From ten points to five and now four probably…” Chaeyoung leaned forward.
SWISH
"And he makes the free throw. The lead is cut down to four, what do the defending champs have to do to keep the lead to this way."
98 - 102 1:05 remaining
You were keeping your calm and thinking of what to do as you got the ball and went to the other side of the court.
“(YN) has to score right?” Sana asked.
“He’s trying, but they’re doing everything to stop him.” Mina looked at the defense.
While you were looking at your other teammates, the opposing player tried to swipe the ball from you.
You, however, were faster than him and quickly crossed the ball to your other hand which made the player lose his footing.

While he was leaning, you quickly moved past him and sprinted toward the net.
“There he goes.” Nayeon leaned forward now as the girls watched two players moving toward you and attempted to block you as you jumped and you got another foul attempt at a lay up, but the ball didn't go into the net, resulting in two free throw attempts.
"Yes!" most of Twice cheered.
"He didn't make it though." Tzuyu said.
"But he got fouled so he gets to shoot twice from that line." Dahyun pointed out to the screen.
“And Mina’s right. They’re defending him with everything they got, it’s like they don’t even care about the other players.” Nayeon tapped her knees as she watched you standing on the line.
SWISH
You made the first one.
98-103
“There’s the first.” Sana said.
You then got the ball back from the ref, but you took a few seconds to breath in and out as you stared at the rim.
Preparing your shot, you took the second one and...
THUMP
You missed as it hit the rim and they rebounded the ball.
98-103 48 seconds remaining
"Aww he was so close." Sana groaned while having two fingers pinching.
"He's getting tired," Mina added in, "I think he’s played almost the entire match."
"Almost," Jihyo added, "maybe a sip of water and a breath here and there, but that’s it. His team is relying on him to be out there."
"Sucks his team can’t do much without him," Nayeon looked at your teammates, “they all play too don’t they?”
As soon as the opponents passed the ball inwards, they quickly ran down the court and without even looking around, the one holding the ball just ran inside your paint and towards your net.
Both him and one of your guards jumped at the same time, but he still made it in with little resistance.
100 - 103 36 seconds remaining.
“Oh my god, how are they running at full speed and (YN)’s team can’t.” Nayeon placed her head onto her hand for rest.
“(YN) can’t even run at this point.” Mina pointed out, “he probably can’t risk the energy. Look even now they have two on him.”
They saw two players around you as your teammate was trying to inbound to you, but changed direction instantly seeing the position you were in and passed it to one on the other side.
Your team went back but at a slower pace as the girls saw you waving your hands to go forward, but your teammates were being guarded as well.
Not as heavily as you were, so a couple of passes and a screen was all they needed to get one to go for a layup on his-

WHACK
…but was blocked and the ball was being send behind him as the opposing player took the ball with you running back to defend as they did a fast break.
“I can’t…” Sana placed her hands over her eyes over her head as they witnessed the players all going the opposite side of the court.
“He’s right behind him though!” Chaeyoung saw you running behind him as the opposing player looked behind and noticed you, but kept on running towards the paint still as you were catching up.
“Get him!” Nayeon encouraged as they reached the paint.
He gathered the ball in his hands and you were ready to jump on his right side, but the player suddenly kicked out pass to his left as your head turned and saw his teammate barely made in the corner and caught the ball.
You spotted your teammate approaching him as the player took and jumped with all his might, but the opposing player once again, pumped fake and side stepped to his right as your teammate ran with all his might that he went so far forward, leaving space for a wide open three.
Another teammate was sprinting towards him, but it was too late as the player jumped and flicked the ball towards the net and…

SWISH
"BANG! He makes it! it's a tie game!’

103 - 103 13 seconds remaining
“WHISTLE! TIMEOUT”
The ref called as the teams went back to their benches, yours silent as the opposing team was cheering and pumping each other up at the shot.
“Wow…just wow.” Nayeon muttered.
“(YN) ran that entire way only for it end like that.” Sana hung her head.
“I mean at least his teammate was there.” Momo remarked.
“Yeah but it doesn’t mean anything if they made the shot.” Nayeon added.
“What do you think they’re going to do?” Dahyun asked.
“I mean it has to be (YN)’s shot right?” Chaeyoung said to her.
“But they have to be thinking that too,” Jihyo thought of the other team, “it’d be too obvious. But they also can’t risk the ball being taken. Passing too much can lead to a steal.”
“But they don’t have to make this right?” Jeongyeon looked at the score, “they tie even if they miss.”
“I don’t know if they can take another few minutes of this Jeongyeon.” Mina stated as they watched your huddle breaking apart as both teams approached the court, all settling on the other side of the court as the ref handed the ball to one of your teammates.
‘Here we go! This could be the final possession of the game! Will we see overtime! Or a three-peat champion team being made!’
The nine were quiet and watched you get the ball as the defense were not on you as much anymore as now they couldn’t risk leaving anyone open, though one person was in front of you, arms spread out as they stood there for a few seconds as the seconds passed.
Three of teammates on the outside perimeter as your Center was fighting in the paint with the opposing player.
“What’s he waiting for?” Tzuyu asked.
“He’s waiting till the last possible shot.” Chaeyoung answered.
As soon as there were five seconds left, you started to dribble the ball and go to the right as your defender was matching up with your speed, but you did a behind the back to catch the player off guard.
Four seconds...
But he wasn’t fooled that easily and caught up to you, but as his momentum was going towards you, you crossed between your legs behind with the other hand, sending the ball back to your right hand and looking at the rim now.
Three seconds…
Your other hand went towards the ball as your defender was ready.
As soon as your hand hovered to gather the ball, he jumped…however…
…you faked the notion, bringing your left hand up and dribbled to the left as your defender was in the air, you sprinted past him.
“He got him!” The girls sat up at your move as you went forward.
Two seconds...
Then as you were going to the paint you saw multiple opposing jerseys bundling towards you now, but with so much space due to each of your players standing on the outside and the Center under the rim, you stopped right away and gathered the ball.
The player behind you had to turn when landing and needed one good jump again, but it was too late as you jumped before he could.
1 second...
“Get in!”
“He shot it!”
“Oh!”
...
...
…
BZZZZZZZZZ
…
…
…

SWISH
“YEAHHHH!”
“THEY DID IT! THEY HAVE WON THREE IN A ROW!”
The sheer deafening cries of cheers were heard around as your team gathered around you, jumping in glee.

Twice was celebrating all around, cheering as well.
103 - 105 FINAL
===========================================
TIMESKIP
After the celebrations were all done, they presented the trophy, more celebrations happening and then you got an interview during the celebration as Twice stayed to listen to you.
"(YN) you now have three titles under your name, winning back to back to back years. How does it feel earning what most schools and even NBA teams haven’t accomplished." The reporter asked you as you nodded.
"It feels incredible. Hehe, that's it, just incredible. I owe it to the team, they have been absolutely something else. Each team through the four years have been incredible and to those who aren’t with us anymore, I owe each of you a thank you for everything you’ve taught us to get to here. It was a full team effort and that trophy is earned with my team and especially (FN) there. He’s been my guy throughout the years and he’s been there for us when we needed him."
“Now winning one is tough enough, but doing this for three in a row. How are you and your team keeping this state with changes to the team due to students graduating or leaving in general?” She asked.
“Keep looking forward. You can’t let loses or unexpected changes bring you down and get to you. Sure we lost players over the years and loses that were upsetting, but you go to overcome whatever gets thrown at you and learn and adapt from those to keep on getting better each day.”
"Now as this was your last game for high school, up next is college level. And I know that your team and you yourself will be getting the spotlight for recruitments. Tell me have you thought about what’s next for you in that?"
"Not right now no. My full attention was on this match, but I understand it’ll get busy soon in the next couple of weeks, but it’s one step at a time. I’ll plan my schools out and we’ll see what happens, but as for now, it’s celebrating this and focusing on my match in Seoul in a couple of weeks."
The girls probably misheard that.
“Did he say Seoul?” Chaeyoung asked the group.
“I think so. Hold on.”
“Well we wish you the best in that match and congrats again on your milestone (YN). Now onto (FN). (FN).” She called another player as you shifted away but the girls looked at another thinking you were going to elaborate more on that.
“Hold on. He can’t just say that and leave.” Momo brought her phone out.
“Is he really coming for a match? What match?” Sana asked getting her phone out as half the girls did and the others looking at the others.
“(YN) Seoul…wait, there’s a charity basketball match in two weeks. Including celebrities such as actors and idols and, (YN) too?” Chaeyoung announced as the girls looked at her and then smiled.
“Holy-he’s coming here to play.” Momo continued reading on her phone.
"Okay, we need to watch this live." Sana asked the group as they all nodded.
"Oh yeah, there is no way I’m missing this." Chaeyoung agreed as they all were reading to find out more.
“I’ll see if we can attend.” Jihyo said going to her manager’s room as Nayeon went with her.
“What are the odds,” Mina started, “the one person we watch is coming here to play.”
“Do you think he likes K-pop?” Dahyun asked as they wondered now.
“I don’t know, maybe if he’s coming to Korea. Or maybe he likes Korea in general?” Sana wondered as they all figured not to dwell.
“Think he knows us?” Chaeyoung questioned now.
“Who knows, but I don’t think he’s ever talked about music.” Jeongyeon said back.
“Maybe we could ask him?” Tzuyu said as the girls nodded.
“Either way, let’s not get too excited, we don’t know if we’re going to go or not.” Mina calmed the group down as they agreed and decided to wait for Nayeon and Jihyo to arrive as some watched the interviews still go.
And that’s it for the first part.
Now I did combine chapters 1 and 2 from the Wattpad version into one thinking it was a better way to start a chapter but nothing has changed much about it.
So not sure how this site works, but comment/vote/follow if you want and thanks for reading!
