“I got this,” Dahyun said to herself in front of the mirror. “I got this.”
Chaeyoung slammed the door of the fridge and glared at her. “Yes, for the past two fucking hours, you got this.” She dragged her feet towards the couch, dropping herself on it as she turned the tv on and ate a spoonful of cereal. “If you take another extra hour doing that, I will personally drag you to your date myself.”
Dahyun groaned and flopped herself right next to Chaeyoung, who immediately fed her a spoon of her cereal. Dahyun chewed it quickly and then swallowed it. “Dude, what if I fuck up?” she asked, trying to clear her throat.
“How are you gonna fuck up?”
“You know me, Chaeng. I'm going to be so engrossed with a certain topic and I'll start talking nonesense... or worse, I’ll unknowingly show her the real me,” she said so quickly, pointing her hands towards her chest and then dropped it on her sides. “I feel like she’ll realize I’m a freak and then bail out.”
“I know you’re a freak and I didn’t bail out.” Chaeyoung shrugged.
Dahyun punched her on the arm, but not strong enough for the cereal to spill. “That’s cause we know we're not butt fucking each other.”
“And you don’t want me to top you, chicken.”
Dahyun scoffed offensively. “We are not having this conversation again.”
“Come on, we can rub our dicks together every once in a while. I know you haven’t got yours wet in, I don't know, forever?” Chaeyoung said smugly as she finished her cereal.
Dahyun groaned again. “You really are a pain in the ass.” She stared at the clock as it just hit nine in the morning. She still has an hour before Nayeon headed to the space to meet up.
She was all over the place last night when she found out that Nayeon left her number at the end of her note. Chaeyoung had to calm Dahyun down for a good thirty minutes after she realized what it was, and another just to get her to send Nayeon a text.
Chaeyoung, being impatient and overly supportive, attempted to take things into her own hands. Which resulted in the two wrestling on the floor because Chaeyoung managed to grab her phone and started texting something to Nayeon and Dahyun used all of her power to get it back from her. Sadly it managed to send and Nayeon replied instantly to the text.
Dahyun sighed, maybe she fucked up last night and needed to check again. So she decided to read their messages again.
10:41 PM
Dahyun: Hi Nayeon, this isnrnrnhwjwjejsk 22!:&&/@ ehejene wosp wndnjdjken
Dahyun: snnwiwowkndndnd ficenmemeowp
Nayeon: Dahyun?
Nayeon: You okay?
Dahyun: Hi, sorry. I uhhh sat on my phone and sent the text. But hi yes it’s Dahyun.
Dahyun: I’m sorry that’s not true. Chaeyoung was being a dick and grabbed my phone.
Nayeon: Hahaha! That’s okay. I thought something bad happened. Is Chaeyoung the one with short hair and in a tie?
Dahyun: Yeah, she's been my best friend since we were kids and my current roommate. So she’s basically a wart on my back that keeps swelling and it’s annoying the shit out of me.
Nayeon: Hahaha! Well that’s one way to put it. You guys are adorable.
Nayeon: Did you get home safely?
Dahyun: I did. Luckily I brought my scooter with me today, so the trip home was short. And breezy.
Dahyun: You? I mean—you know, after you got picked up.
Nayeon: Yeah, I did. I also didn’t realize how tired I was until I got to my apartment. My feet are aching.
Dahyun: At least you get to take a break now. Enjoy the rest of your evening :)
Nayeon: Yeah :)
Nayeon: Thank you again for the venue.
Nayeon: And for the company :) It's making me want to see you sooner.
Dahyun: Me too. I can’t wait for tomorrow :)
Nayeon: I’ll rest now. Good night, Dahyun. See you at 10.
Dahyun: Good night, Nayeon. See you at 10 :)
Dahyun placed her phone on her chest and stared at the tv. She didn’t want to bother Chaeyoung again about her worries so maybe she could try to do something else while waiting.
She already took a bath, ate breakfast, and wore the clothes she wanted to wear that day. Chaeyoung reminded her to bring a condom in case something special happened. Of course she protested but her friend still threw the small packet at her despite it.
When it hit half past nine, Dahyun finally found the courage to get herself ready to leave and Chaeyoung cheered her on until she got out of the door.
Dahyun was staring at Chaeyoung’s helmet for a good while. A part of her wanted to take it in case Nayeon was interested in the idea of riding on the scooter with her for their day. But Nayeon looked like a sophisticated woman who drove in fancy sedans and had a corporate job. She probably wouldn’t even want to be seen close to the heap of metal that Dahyun called her ride. But after Chaeyoung shouted at her again, she blindly took the helmet with her and went downstairs to the parking lot where her bike was. At least she had the helmet in case Nayeon decided she wanted to be adventurous that day.
The ride to the space was short, maybe because Dahyun drove faster than usual out of excitement. But as she turned the last corner, she found the same white sedan Nayeon got picked up in and she felt her heart jump at that.
She parked her scooter at the side of the road and took off her helmet, making sure it was secured on the bike and then walked towards the car. She felt her whole body stiffen when she saw the car door open and Nayeon stepped out. She had her hair up in a neat ponytail, wearing a simple shirt and jeans. Dahyun couldn’t get why she made something so ordinary look extremely ethereal. She gulped when Nayeon waved at her, giving the same beautiful, toothy smile that Dahyun was beginning to be so enamored with.
“If I don’t marry this woman one day, I’d rather be dead,” Dahyun whispered to herself as she took a deep breath in and met Nayeon half way.
“Hey! I’m glad you just arrived, I thought I was late,” Nayeon said with a big smile, pointing back at the car and then looking at Dahyun. She eyed Dahyun, head to toe and kept her smile. “You look really cute right now.”
Dahyun's eyes went wide and blushed. Probably too much, she could feel the blood circulating quickly throughout her face. Her brain probably malfunctioned when Nayeon associated her with the word cute. “I-I... uhhh… you’re—you are—“
She was stammering, in the most unattractive way possible. This was what she was worried about. Her lack of confidence and quirkiness didn’t mix well, and the women Dahyun dated before didn’t exactly like it. Maybe Nayeon would be turned off by how much of a bumbling fool she looked like at that moment.
“I’m what?” Nayeon asked, in the calmest way possible. Dahyun's eyes widened at this, it was as if Nayeon wanted her to finish. That didn’t usually happen, so she wasn’t entirely sure what to do. It didn't help that Nayeon’s smile was starting to do things with her heart and brain, so she wasn’t sure if she was able to say any coherent words at this point. But she had to try.
Dahyun cleared her throat. “You’re cute. No—“ she raised both her hands and Nayeon’s brows furrowed. “You’re gorgeous. Beyond that really.”
Nayeon smiled widely again, her bunny teeth were greeting Dahyun and she was so happy to see them again. Silently telling herself that she could die at this moment and she would be totally fine with that.
“Thank you,” the older said sheepishly. Then she grabbed Dahyun’s small hand and tugged it a bit. “Shall we start?”
Dahyun’s face burned again with their hands intertwined. Then she shook her head, she needed to be more confident if she wanted Nayeon to have a great day today.
She nodded. “Yeah, let’s.” Dahyun grabbed onto her hand a little tighter and brought her to her small scooter at the side. ”Are you okay with riding on my bike? I thought it would be easier for us to travel.”
Nayeon’s face beamed with excitement, eyes darting from the small motorcycle to Dahyun. “Really?” Dahyun nodded. “Then yes!”
That was a great relief to Dahyun and it was a good thing Nayeon was wearing jeans today, it would be easier for her to ride the scooter. Once they positioned themselves on the small vehicle, wearing helmets, which Dahyun thought was the cutest thing she had ever seen, they drove off to their first destination.
Dahyun drove past different buildings, pointing out notable ones, including tourist spots and areas to Nayeon. If it was necessary, she would briefly talk about history, or a simple story of her own adventures.
All the talking made Dahyun forget her yips and she just kept talking throughout their whole ride. But she faltered a bit when she felt Nayeon’s arms wrap around her waist and her chin was leaning on her shoulder. Maybe Nayeon could tell how nervous that made Dahyun, so the older woman would try to ask questions to get Dahyun to keep talking.
When the sun was starting to shine harder than earlier, Dahyun drove them to a nice restaurant somewhere in the city. To her luck, it wasn’t as crowded as she expected so they were able to sit at a table by the end. It was quiet, near the window for Nayeon to enjoy the view of the city and Dahyun only had Nayeon to look at. She believed it was the perfect spot for them.
Dahyun then called the waitress to take their order. The waitress recognized Dahyun since she would frequent here with Tzuyu whenever her tall friend wasn’t with her girlfriend or with Jihyo when she wasn’t busy with school. So the familiarity and Dahyun’s new company made the waitress take their order with much enthusiasm. Maybe she had a hunch that Dahyun was on a date, since that rarely happened.
