Winter chronicles pt3: No thanks to Jimin's most dreaded season, the girl ended up waking up to one of the worst feelings on the planet: a sore throat and a stuffed nose. But luckily for her, Minjeong is there to take care of her, and protect her from this dangerous foe that is the winter's season.
Jimin thinks that at this point, thinking about how much she hates the awful season that is winter comes to her as naturally as breathing does.
She tried. She really did try to like it! She swore to Minjeong that she would make efforts, and stop whining anytime her girlfriend made her fight against her ultimate nemesis that is the cold and freezing weather.
And Jimin did her best! And even found herself to be enjoying her lovely evening date with her girlfriend, who had desperately wanted to go see their city’s annual light show.
And despite the … cold, Jimin had also found herself to be enjoying this moment. Well, of course she did, since she was with Minjeong, and on top of that, she was making Minjeong happy! And a happy Minjeong is obviously a delighted Jimin.
Except that the warmth Minjeong made Jimin feel inside as she clutched to her arm the whole night… was regretfully enough for her to completely look past the actual freezing temperature of this dazzling night date.
At first, Jimin noticed that the tip of her fingers was starting to grow colder. So obviously, she simply buried them in the pockets of Minjeong’s coat. Easy solution! The action earned her a light shove from her girlfriend, as well as her usual fake-annoyed whines, but Minjeong simply clutched her freezing hands in hers. A complete win!
Then, Jimin slowly started to not feel her feet anymore. However, she just blamed this numbness on their lengthy walk around the city. Walking around had been pretty exhausting after all, so not feeling her feet wasn’t so strange to Jimin.
But then, came the first sneeze.
Jimin’s first thought? Her pollen allergies!
To which Minjeong had merely flickered her forehead, before telling her that pollen is only around during Spring. Obviously, Jimin knows about it! But sometimes, she forgets that her girlfriend is as much of a smarty pants nerd as her…
Gladly, those bizarre warning signs hadn’t escalated any further that night. Because, even if Jimin couldn’t feel her feet nor her hands anymore at the end of their small nightly escapade, those small mishaps hadn’t stopped her from spending a lovely date with her even more lovely girlfriend. Even if it had been in the freezing cold.
Because, when Minjeong had softly kissed the tip of her red nose in the train on their way back, before softly lowering her mouth to leave a small and cold peck on Jimin’s equally icy lips, Jimin knew that fighting against her worst enemy had been the right move to make.
And maybe, this date had helped her liking the hiemal season a tad more.

Jimin wishes she could swallow her past words.
Actually, Jimin just wishes she could swallow in general.
The morning after their nocturnal date, Jimin had woken up feeling a bit drowsy. And while this kind of occurrence is pretty common to some people, to her, it was as rare as finding an egg with hairs. Because, ever since she started to live with Minjeong, and got to sleep next to the woman every single night, Jimin hasn’t gotten a singular bad night of sleep.
Except that this time, Minjeong’s power on her wellbeing had apparently been taken over by a much greater foe…
Winter.
This damned season striked again, and this time decided to directly aim its sneaky attacks on Jimin’s throat and nose!
The second Jimin tried to swallow her saliva, she genuinely felt herself go. Like, she actually saw stars there, and not for the right reason!
Her throat was quite literally on fire, and the desperate sip of water she attempted to take did not help easing down the pain in the slightest. And when she felt herself sniffing the pain away, Jimin just knew .
The cold has gotten her.
Her nose was already runny by the time she came back to her senses, woken up by her second attempt at swallowing down her saliva. Which ended up in yet another trip straight towards the burning flames of Hell.
“Jimin?”
Jimin turned her head when she heard Minjeong’s hoarse voice, sleep still very much laced in her tone. Usually, Jimin would feel bad about waking up her girlfriend, but the striking pain in her throat refrained her from being able to think logically.
She tried to open her mouth and answer, but as soon as she tried to talk, the pain was back. Jimin could only let out a small and muffled cry because of the sudden flash of pain in her body. But luckily for her, Minjeong seemed to have immediately noticed what was going on.
“Oh baby…” she whispered, softly cupping Jimin’s cheeks in her warm hands. Jimin let out another almost inaudible cry, and it was all it took for Minjeong to swiftly cradle the girl in her arms, and gently place Jimin’s head against her chest.
“It’s okay,” she muttered, as she delicately placed a feathery kiss on top of Jimin’s messy locks. “Try to rest, baby. I will take care of you, alright?”
Jimin weakly nodded against her girlfriend’s chest, before trying to close her eyes, hoping that sleep would find her again.
However, as soon as she tried to swallow again, her whole body shivered once more.
Sensing her obvious discomfort, Minjeong brought Jimin’s body even closer to hers, and softly squeezed it. “Can’t sleep?”
A weak nod.
Jimin couldn’t see it, but Minjeong’s expression was one of profound sorrow. She absolutely hates to see Jimin in pain, and witnessing her usually over-energetic girlfriend in such a frail state simply broke her heart.
“Alright, I will bring you some stuff that will make you feel better. Okay?”
Minjeong gently distanced herself from Jimin’s body, slowly getting out of bed, but not forgetting to place a soft pillow in Jimin’s hold, to make up for her temporary absence.
She quickly sent a message to her workplace, as well as Jimin’s, saying how the both of them wouldn’t be able to attend work that day, before quickly making her way inside the kitchen. There, she grabbed a small honey tube, and ice cubes. Then, she ran towards the bathroom, to get a wet towel, as well as her most treasured and prized tiger balm.
A.k.a, the remedy to all the pain in this world.
And as quickly as she left, Minjeong came back inside the room, and quietly made her way next to Jimin.
“I’m back baby,” she said, as she softly brushed some of Jimin’s strands of hair away from her damp forehead. Jimin merely let out a weak whine back.
Minjeong offered her a small smile, and swiftly placed a hand behind her girlfriend’s back. “I’ll need you to sit up a bit, okay? You’ll get better in no time, no worries,” she assured the older girl, leaving a small peck on her forehead.
Jimin groggily sat up, helped by Minjeong’s steady hands. The girl softly kissed Jimin’s forehead again, before finally getting to work.
First, she gently wiped Jimin’s forehead with the wet towel, in hopes of cooling down her body a bit. The next step was to numb her girlfriend’s mouth a bit, to prevent her from feeling the pain as much as she currently did.
“Say aaah,” she instructed, holding a small ice cube in her hand.
Jimin, who had been surprisingly obedient, did as told, allowing Minjeong to place the ice cube inside her mouth.
“It will help numb the pain,” explained the girl.
Minjeong waited for Jimin to finish chewing on the piece of ice, before giving her at least three whole spoonfuls of honey. She knows that too much sugar isn’t good for one’s system, but Minjeong believes in the power of honey to cure throat problems! And in those critical times, a few shots of the sweet liquid can only help her poor girlfriend.
Lastly, came the ultimate life savior: the tiger balm.
Minjeong gently lowered the hem of Jimin’s shirt, and delicately spread the balm all over the top of her girlfriend’s chest, as well as on her neck, and right under her jaw, where her tonsils should be situated. Jimin’s skin felt awfully hot under her hands, a clear sign of sickness.
“Does it feel good?” she asked, as she thoroughly rubbed the balm on Jimin’s long neck.
She immediately smiled when she felt Jimin nodding against her hands, and letting out a small sigh of relief. The balm must have started to take effect already. Truly a magical item!
Minjeong continued to gently massage Jimin’s upper body, and only stopped when she suddenly felt her girlfriend’s hand softly ruffling her hair.
“W-What are you doing-”
Still in pain, although it had already calmed down greatly thanks to her girlfriend’s efforts, Jimin couldn’t talk and express herself with words. But her small and grateful smile was enough for Minjeong to understand what she meant by this affectionate gesture.
“Thank you for taking care of me. I love you. ”
Minjeong’s heart squeezed at the sight, and at the familiar feeling of Jimin’s hand gently passing through her locks. She couldn’t contain the sudden surge of affection she felt towards her girlfriend, and left a small peck against Jimin’s mouth. Short enough to not (hopefully) catch her illness, but long enough to convey her rawest feelings to her girlfriend.
“I love you too. ”

The next morning, Jimin woke up feeling completely refreshed. It was to be expected after all, since she had spent almost all of her previous day sleeping the day away, and only waking up when Minjeong needed to give her her special ‘Minjeongie meds’.
And Jimin has to say that they worked like a charm! Because, while her nose was still a bit stuffy, the gut-wrenching pain in her throat was now almost gone! She just felt a small discomfort when she swallowed sometimes, but it was nothing compared to the torture of the day before.
Next to her, Minjeong, or should she say her personal nurse, slowly started to stir awake.
Jimin chuckled at the sight, her voice still coming out a bit hoarse. “Good morning baby,” she said, as she affectionately kissed the tip of her girlfriend’s nose.
Minjeong slowly rubbed her sleepy eyes, before opening them, a wide smile already spread on her face. “Are you feeling better?”
Jimin practically jumped against her girlfriend’s smaller frame, before burying her head in the woman’s chest, and lightly purring when she felt Minjeong’s familiar warmth and scent enveloping her.
“Much better! And it’s all thanks to you.”
Minjeong smiled at her, before softly ruffling her hair. “I’m glad- achoo!”
Both girls looked at each other with wide eyes.
“Are you oka-” tried to ask Jimin, who abruptly got interrupted by another sneeze coming from the girl holding her.
“Uh oh…”
“Jimin I-” Another sneeze.
Jimin quickly detangled herself from Minjeong’s hold, before rapidly running towards the bathroom. “I’ll go get you some meds!”
Seems like they would both need to take another day away from work to recover…
Screw you, hiemal season! But at the same time, thank you for giving two days of full cuddling and doting to Minjeong and her!
