So let’s talk about chapter 61 of Mutual Help. Well, at least the first two scenes of the damn thing.
Ey erbody. I hope y’all are good at your side and are keeping it easy.
So, the author of Mutual Help, personasintro or Mimi releases parts of upcoming chapters of Mutual Help on her Ko-Fi account for like 15 bucks before she ends up releasing the full chapter on her Tumblr and later AO3 account. But lucky for me, someone shared the first two scenes of chapter 61 on the discord server. So I thought I could give it a read and review and rant about it to y’all.
And BOY do I have thoughts and words.
Let’s get into it.
So the chapter kicks off with Y/N and Jungkook at the airport ready to go back to South Korea and things are already awkward between them. The forced small talk, the avoiding eye contact, the running out of things to say. Basically the end result of what happens when two people who were that intimate try to go back to "just friends." As if simply going back to “just being friends” will happen just like that.
And we finally get some acknowledgement from Y/N about the shit leading to where she and Kook are now. She acknowledges that they way they’ve been moving was stupid and reckless. She acknowledges that they both made a choice that could have possibly put their friendship in a very weird place.
And most importantly, she can’t pretend that her and Kook can go back to how they were before the Mutual Help saga and has no regrets for her experiences with him.
Let’s give a round of applause for Y/N erbody. We love a self reflecting queen 👏🏼👏🏼. Here’s a cookie.
And it’s still crazy that it took a pregnancy scare to wake this bitch up and have this epiphany 🙂🙂.
But she’s also sad that she won’t be able to experience that again.
Girl, you just had a pregnancy scare because both of your dumbasses were raw dogging it without protection twice. And you’re sad you won’t get to fuck your best friend 💀💀?
Then again our nigga Jungkook basically ruined her to the point that no other nigga can do it like so…..
But then she completely lost me when she was like:
But if you want to bring your friendship back, you have to set a boundary. No physical contact beyond a hug. No kisses. No intimate touches. No sex.
Just you and Jungkook, writing a new chapter. You know you probably won’t be able to return to the friendship you had years ago–but it’s time to work on it, to get as close as possible. That’s your wish.
Things are awkward for now. But there’s still a fragile, hopeless kind of hope that you’ll be able to work it out somehow.

Why are we trying to bring back something that’s been dead since the early chapters. What friendship is there to bring back when you and your home boy are so deeply and emotionally attached to the point y’all can’t do friendship things without both of you fucking and getting so jealous of being with other people y’all act passive aggressive towards each other, angry fuck and only communicate when it starts affecting your friendship.
Like both of you TRIED to put space and distance and TRIED to focus on being friends.
Y’all fucked before y’all went on the Hawaii trip saying it’s “one last time” before y’all started your “break”. Y’all fucked in one of the changing rooms when y’all were hanging with Nara and Gabriel. Y’all fucked with no condom TWICE, first time was after y’all came back from clubbing and from your petty revenge date with Nara and Gabriel. The second time was morning sex.
Do you REALLY think that simply not having sex or kissing each other is going to magically restore your friendship to how it was?
Why not navigate this new change and transition in your relationship and figure things out as you go? Your friendship will still be intact but it will be different because EVERYTHING from the first chapter up until now CHANGED you as people. You two don’t see each other the same way you saw each other before.
And Maya (Namjoon’s fiancée) clocked her like:
“Friendship?” Maya cocks her brow. Curls tighten in a wide ponytail as her coconut oil fills your senses. “Honey, it’s a relationship by now, no friendship.”
THANK YOU. WE’VE BEEN TELLING THIS BITCH SINCE AFTER THE KIKO AND JUNGKOOK BROKE UP AGAIN AND WHEN THEY STARTED FAKE DATING AND FUCKING.
My only criticism of Maya is that she’s kinda inconsistent. Like she can be blunt and real but she also tends to coddle Y/N’s feelings.
Like no bitch. This girl needs to be told the truth and needs a reality check. She is a grown woman.
But Maya did cook with this:
“What are you scared of? Hm?” she asks softly. “Are you scared of love?”
You almost choke on your spit, “I don’t love him!”
She cocks her brow, “You sure?”
“I mean I do–not in that way though.”
“Because you don’t let yourself.”
And that’s a valid point because, it’s clear as day that Y/N and Jungkook have developed feelings for each other. I think Jungkook from like chapter 50-ish seemed like he acknowledges and has made peace with the fact that he caught feelings for her.
Y/N on the other chooses not to put a name on her feelings because to her it means accepting that they can no longer go back and thinks that it would complicate or risk ending the friendship.
But girl, avoiding your feelings and avoiding talking to the nigga you’re in the friendship with is only speeding the process of ending it.
You’ve talked to Jimin. You’ve talked to Taehyung. And now you’re talking to Maya. You’ve talked to literally everyone BUT your best friend. Like how the hell do you want to salvage your friendship while avoiding the nigga you’re in this friendship with.
That’s like going to the doctor for symptoms but refusing to take the medication.
Avoiding this nigga isn’t fixing anything.
Also, will these niggas even be fine seeeing the other date other people without them being passive aggressive towards each other AND their partner?
If the answer is no, then they’re friendship is COOKED.
Not to mention there’s a friend get together that Namjoon is hosting and obviously they’re going to be seeing each other there.
I do hope in the upcoming parts that the Author might release Jungkook takes the initiative and have this hard conversation about where they at and tell her: listen. I know you want things to go back to how they were but we can’t. And that’s fine. We can still be friends but we’re moving forward with this change and shift. Not running away from it.
So yeah.
