Hey y’all. Welcome to another segment of The Rant Café. This might be a very short post and rant since this is about a Soap Opera I watched when I was in primary school on SABC 1 (South African Broadcasting Corporation).
Just a brief background. So, back around the late 2000s and early 2010s, when I was about 10-12 years old, us Zimbabwean used to have access to our neighbouring country, South Africa, channels SABC 1, 2, 3 and eTV. And it was through those channels that I got to watch Totally Spies, Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, Winx Club and Teen Titans and 5pm after school. (Sigh) Those were the days.
It was also through those channels I was introduded to Bold and the Beautiful which aired on SABC 1 at 7pm almost every Monday to Thursday and I used to tune in religiously. And I later found out that this show has been ongoing since the 80s BRO! WHAT?!
You’re telling me this show was there since before I was born and is still ongoing now that I’m entering my late 20s?!
Anyways, now that I got that outta the way, let’s talk about Brooke Logan Forrester because whew, this woman is just on an whole new level.
If you thought Zoey Redbird had boy problem when it came to her harem of boyfriend, Brooke makes Zoey Redbird look like she was playing in a kiddie pool when it comes to romantic entanglements. This woman didn't just have a harem—she had a family tree that looks more like a tangled ball of yarn than an actual lineage. She's been with practically every man in the Forrester dynasty (and a few outside it), often swapping between brothers, fathers, and even sons like she's collecting Pokemon, Yugioh cards, Digimon and Bakugan.
So at the beginning, she was with Eric Forrester, the patriarch and founder of Forrester Creations, who was married to Stephanie. Mind you, this man was old enough to be her father but she still went after him. They have a son together, Eric Junior or Rick and a daughter Bridget. I think Brooke and Eric ended up breaking up and Eric ended up marrying Brooke’s younger sister Donna but broke up and got back with Stephenie.
THEN, Brooke got with Eric’s son Ridge Forrester, who was married to a woman named Taylor and the mother of his kids Oliver, Steffy and Phoebe (who were twins. Phoebe died in a car crash and was dating Rick and Rick ended up with Steffy and was engaged to him at some point. Which is weird coz Rick is basically their half uncle).
Then, Brooke got with Ridge’s brother Thorne. i don’t know how that happened, I only watched laters episodes this was me doing some research on the characters and what i managed to pull.
But Brooke didn’t stop with the Forrester family. SHE WENT FOR THE KIDS AS WELL.
Brooke slept with TWO of her older daughter, Bridget’s husbands. Her first husband Deacon Sharpe WHO SHE HAD A CHILD NAMED HOPE WITH. And Bridget’s second husband Dominick "Nick" Marone.
Then she hooked up with her affair baby, Hope’s boyfriend Oliver Jones at her High School Graduation Party. I remembered this arch vividly.
So what had happened was, Hope and Oliver had planned to hookup at the terrace and Hope said that the signal was “I’m ready”. This was because, the party was a mask party. Erbody was wearing masks. So BOOM the party comes and erbody was dancing to Gasolina by Daddy Yankee. So Oliver is looking for Hope and he “spots” her, wearing a navy blue glittery mini dress with a hoodie and the necklace with the Chinese character of her name. But that was Brooke who coincedentally wore the same outfit as her daughter and so HAPPENED to have her daughter’s necklace on and so happened to think Oliver was Ridge because Ridge coincedentally wore the same hooded jacket as Oliver and so happened to have the same signal for them hook up. So obviously he thought it was Hope and went with her and did the deed.
And it was only until he went back inside that he realised that he hooked up with his girlfriend’s mother, when both ladies show up and Brooke returns the necklace to Hope explaining that her dress didn’t have pockets. And later down the line Oliver tells Brooke what happened and she makes him swear not to tell Hope and eventually, Hope finds out at a very public event for Brooke meant to welcome her back to the company.
But wait. I doesn’t stop there, folks. Brooke even hooked up WITH HER STEP SON THOMAS at some point. You know? Her husband Ridge’s son with his ex wife Taylor? Yeah. That happened.
Oh yeah, she even got with her sister Katie’s husband Bill Spencer. But don’t feel bad for Katie, she also went after Ridge too and had to fake faint at Brooke and Ridge’s 3rd or 5th wedding, just to stop the wedding.
Looking back now as a grown adult, I can't help but laugh at how seriously I took this show when I was just a kid in Zimbabwe, glued to SABC 1 every Monday to Thursday at 7pm. Back then, it was just entertaining chaos—dramatic music, dramatic slaps, and even more dramatic affairs. But now? Now I realise that Brooke Logan wasn't just a character; she was a whole lesson in audacity, resilience, and the absolute refusal to let anyone tell her what to do. This woman was for THE GUTTERS and it's crazy how her daughters, especially Bridget, still chose to forgive and maintain a relationship with her.
