Day 1 in school

Authour’s POV 

Two days later and it was a Monday. Y/N got up early and went to run 2.4km. After he was done running, he rested for a while and went to wash up. Once he finished washing up, he went to find clothes to wear but realized he did not have any business casual clothing. He looked at what clothes he had and saw that he had brought his no4 air force uniform. After giving a short thought, Y/N decided to put on the uniform and head out. As he waited for the lift, one of the neighbours walked towards the lift lobby and greeted Y/N. The neighbour was surprised to see Y/N wearing the uniform and asked if he was from the army. 

“Used to be. Just that I do not have any nice clothes to wear for my first day of work,” said Y/N. 

“I see. My name is Jason, nice to meet you,” said the neighbour. 

“Likewise, Jason. My name is Y/N,” said Y/N. 

The lift arrived and the two men headed down to the carpark. Y/N went to his car and drove off to the school.  

Meanwhile, Arin and Lia were walking to school from the bus stop. As they arrived at the school gate, the two of them saw Soo Bin ahead of them. This made Arin walk quickly, as Lia watched and shook her head. Soo Bin noticed Arin quickly walking into the school and tried to stop her but chose not to. As for Olivia, she was walking to school and saw Chen Le just ahead of her. Seeing Chen Le made her walk slowly, trying to avoid him. Coincidentally, she saw Si Eun walking. Olivia quickly walked to Si Eun and linked arms with her, walking into the school together. The two girls walked past Chen Le with Si Eun saying hi to him. Olivia did not say hi and continued walking into the school with Si Eun. Chen Le sighed and walked in, feeling sad. 

Y/N’s POV 

It took me about twenty minutes to drive from my home to the school. As I was nearing the school, I noticed many students walking to the school. Once I arrived at the guard house, I stopped the car and rolled down the window. The security guard asked who I was and I explained to him that Mr Kim had hired me as the new staff.  

“Your name sir?” the security guard asked. 

“Y/N. Did Mr Kim inform you that I was arriving today?” I spoke. 

The security guard went to check with the office and once he was done, he came back to me with a thumbs up. I looked at the name tag and the name of the security guard was Yang Se Chan.  

“Thank You Mr Se Chan,” I said. 

Se Chan nodded his head and pointed to me where to park the car. I then drove to the car park where there were many cars being parked there. After I parked my car, I headed straight to the lobby where Mr Kim was there waiting for me. Both of us shook hands, as he welcomed me to school. 

“I’m surprised that you wore your air force uniform today. You should have bought smart clothing and worn it since it’s your first day,” said Mr Kim. 

“It’s ok. I will go get it this weekend or tonight. Just allow me to wear what I have at home,” I told Mr Kim. 

Mr Kim smiled and nodded his head as we headed towards the meeting room where all the teachers were waiting. The teachers greeted Mr Kim and I as Mr Kim introduced me to the teachers as the new principal. The teachers seemed stunned by the announcement as I smiled and introduced myself.  

“Hello everyone, my name is Y/N. I am formerly an air force pilot for the Singapore air force. Let’s all work hard together for the best of this school alright?” I spoke. 

The teachers nodded their heads and clapped. This made me smile as I took out the file from my bag that started to read out loud all the statistics in it. The statistics included the school being ranked lowest in South Korea for the College Scholastic Ability Test taken. The teachers could only look down in shame as I reminded the teachers that the school was a place for students to learn, not to play around. I looked back at the file and asked for the basketball coach.  

“I’m the coach. The name is Yoo Byung Jae,” said a teacher, raising his hand. 

“Ah right, Mr Yoo. Did you know that the school’s basketball team is currently the worst team to date? The team has not won a single championship since Bill Clinton became president,” I said, berating Mr Yoo.  

The berating made Mr Yoo shocked but at the same time made me feel (secretly) elated. I looked at the other teachers before telling Mr Yoo that I had plans for the basketball team. Mr Yoo nodded his head as I continued to tell the teachers that things had to change for the school to be at its best. One teacher put up her hand, as I allowed the teacher to speak. 

“I’m Miss Hani. I’m the homeroom teacher for Senior Class 3-1. What should we do if we want to make the school go back to its best?” the teacher asked. 

“Good question. Since I am the new principal, I decided that I would need to have this school cleaned up. Also, the students here who can’t pass the College Scholastic Ability Test aren’t able to go study in the top universities. This shows you teachers are not doing your damn jobs,” I shouted at the top of my voice, trying to show how serious I was. 

The teachers all looked down at the floor, unable to say a single word. It seemed like my words did work. I continued by telling the teachers to get me names of students who were playing truant or not doing stuff that are not allowed in school. The teachers nodded their heads as I told them to gather the students after break time for me to speak to them. The teachers understood as I took my leave from the meeting room. Mr Kim followed me, as I looked at him. 

“You could have been nicer when you speak to the teachers,” said Mr Kim. 

“I would if your teachers are doing a proper job but they aren’t,” I told Mr Kim, which seemed to have made him pissed. 

Mr Kim decided to leave the school compound while I went to my office to officially start my work. Once I sat down in my office, I started to look at the things I needed to do.  

Authour’s POV 

A few hours later, it was break time for the students and the students went to the canteen to buy food and drinks. Many students rushed down to the canteen except for Soo Bin and Chen Le. The two boys were sulking as they bumped into each other, on the way to the canteen. No words were exchanged but both boys seemed to know what trouble they were going through. Upon arriving at the canteen, the two boys sat opposite each other at a table and sighed. They were joined by their classmates who sat next to them. 

“What happened to you two?” Felix asked. 

“Soo Bin confessed to my sister and it did not go well,” said Lia, smirking. 

Lia’s words made Soo Bin give her the dare stare as everyone at the table was surprised. They started to ask many questions which Soo Bin quickly covered his ears while Lia told everyone to stop asking him questions.  

“I still can’t believe you liked Arin unnie. She is a nice person though. Did she reject your confession?” Nakyung asked. 

Soo Bin could not answer and sighed, as Lia took the liberty to explain what happened. The group was surprised after hearing the explanation, Arin unexpectedly walked into the canteen which made the group keep quiet. They looked away as Soo Bin accidentally exchanged eye contact with her. Arin quickly looked away as she walked with Olivia to the shop to buy snacks. Chen Le saw Olivia walking past him and wanted to stop her but could not.  

“Chen Le, are you trying to speak to Olivia? Seems like she is ignoring you,” Felix asked. 

Chen Le sighed, nodding his head. Felix patted him on the back, asking him what happened between the two of them. Chen Le explained to the group what happened between him and Olivia which surprised everyone.  

“Olivia smokes? That’s so shocking,” said Si Eun. 

“I told her smoking is bad for her and told her to quit. Guess what, she knew but told me to not be a busybody,” said Chen Le. 

Hearing what Chen Le said made the rest speechless as they told him and Soo bin to cheer up. Meanwhile, Y/N was in his office writing some notes when someone knocked on the door. 

Y/N’s POV 

“Come in,” I said. 

A woman entered the room, who was my secretary by the name of Miss Seo, handed me a document that required my signature. After signing the document, I looked up at the clock and it showed that it was 10.30am. I handed the document to Miss Seo and asked her what time the break time end.  

(Miss Seo)

“11.15am Mr Y/N,” said Miss Seo. 

“Great. Please help me remind the teachers to gather the students at the school hall after break time is over,” I told Miss Seo. 

Miss Seo nodded her head and took her leave as I continued my work. Ten minutes had passed and I was about to write something when my phone rang. Looking closely at the number, it was a call from the US which surprised me.  

“Hello Y/N speaking, who is this?” I said, picking up the phone. 

“Hello 2nd class corporal Y/N. How have you been?” the caller asked. 

“Captain Maverick?” I was surprised by the caller as Captain Maverick was the only person who called me by the rank.
