You opened the door to find Chaewon pacing like she was rehearsing a confession.
She stopped the second she saw you. “…we need to talk.”
You dropped your keys, already tired. “Okay, what did you buy.”
“It’s not that,” she said quickly. “I met him. And I didn’t mean for it to happen, it just… did. We connected. Emotionally.”
You stared at her. She kept going. “At first it was just eye contact, you know? But then he stayed. And I couldn’t just walk away from him like that. I’m not heartless.”
“…Chaewon.”
“I didn’t think I’d feel this strongly,” she pressed on, voice getting dramatic. “But when he looked at me, I felt seen. Like he chose me.”
You rubbed your face. “Chae, I know what you're doing, I know you’re not cheating. You’re incapable of lying for more than ten seconds.”
“I can lie!”
A small meow echoed from behind her.
You pointed. “…there it is.”
She lit up instantly, scooping up a tiny cat.
“His name is Kim Catwon.”
“…you’re unbelievable.”
“He’s staying,” she added firmly. “Don’t make me choose. We're parents now"
