“Cheers!”

Divided by life, United by Alcohol. Me and my girlfriend, Yooyeon looked at each other as we drink our shot. My friend, Jimin drank along with Yubin.

A loud and satisfied groan after a first shot of soju. TV is on but none of us paid attention to the variety show featuring female idols. It just there for a background noise.

My relationship with Yooyeon stayed strong for about a year. We met because Yubin and Jimin are trying to set us up in a double date.

I’m actually all in, Yooyeon wasn’t. Yubin kept poking a bear by a stick until Yooyeon just gave up and decided to play along.

I know it’s totally an exaggeration but seeing Yooyeon for the first time, my brain short-circuited. She got that “Campus Beauty” title and didn’t expect her to be so introverted. She’s silent. Nodding this, Nodding that. She only speaks when necessary.

When she talks, it’s straight forward. No nonsense at all. Her voice carried the introvertness, low and deep. The type that I could listen for hours.

Yubin and Jimin carried the whole karaoke session while me and Yooyeon just sat behind them. Watching them perform their hearts out, we just cheering them silently.

I looked at Yooyeon and she looked at me as well. We just giggled and smiled. No words needed. Damn, her smile is so fatal to my heart. The way the corners of her lips when she smiled adds the fatality.

Oh, I’m definitely crazy for saying this but her face is totally my style.

Back to the present time where we drink soju while the storm is outside of Yubin’s apartment.

“Anyway, three days ago. When we had picnic date, I saw a family playing badminton across us. Their kids are twins and I couldn’t handle their cuteness!”

Jimin chuckled. “Yeah. She kept watching the kids and couldn’t stop talking about kids, especially the kids on daycare center.”

“And you know what? I told him that I wanted a twins. He coughed out of his drink!” Yubin laughed maniacally.

“And I told you to calm your motherly instincts down. You’re too fond on the kids ever since you worked at the daycare.”

“Oh come on, surely you had urges of impregnating me everytime we fuck.”

“Jesus. You and your shameless mouth, Yubin. We haven’t even married yet you already want kids in this economy.” Jimin drank his second shot.

“Buuuuttt jagiiiiyaaa~ The more I’m with kids, the more I wanted to have my own! You could propose right now and I will say yes!” Yubin giggled as she clings into him like a flirty cat.

"Jimin is right. Having kids in this era where prices are soaring high, housing as well. Educational costs, Work culture, Wide gap salaries between two genders and even corporations expecting women to leave the work to take care of the house, losing their job to become a fulltime housewife. It leads these group of women to rally against marriage, kids and dating overall.”

As expected, Yooyeon and her straightforward answer.

“Yah! Yooyeon-ah! Don’t be such a party pooper!” Yubin pouts. Yooyeon rolled her eyes.

The silence after that was loud.

“I’m bored right now! Why not let’s play truth or dare? I’ll spin the bottle first!” Yubin grabbed the empty soju bottle and spins it. We haven’t said yes to the game but Yubin is Yubin.

The bottle slows down and Jimin is the first victim of this game.

“Truth or Dare, Jagi!”
