“Come on Minji, hurry up we are going to be late for school!!”, you sitting on your bicycle waiting impatiently for Minji who is running out of her gate with a piece of bread that is still bit between her lips. When you saw her as if it was muscle memory you pass her her helmet and she got onto your bicycle just like how a princess would be on a horse ride with her loyal knight. This cycle has been going on ever since both of you have started school as from childhood until now the two of you are basically inseparable being each others presence, if you were studying in the library she will be beside you and if she have her training in the dancing room you will always be there for her. At this point many would think that you two are dating but you two will always deny it but deep down for you, you always feel something different just like how you have a soft spot for her.

“Mianhe, I overslept trying to rush out the assignment last night, can’t believe that old lady expects us to write a 3000 word essay that contribute to half our term grade in one night. Did you finish yours?” Minji looked at you with a look of dread as any student would when dealing with the devils of academics. Hearing what Minji was complaining about you gave her your honest studying tip, “Aish, Min it is not so hard actually as long as you have clear structure in what you want to write in your essay it will be actually quite manageable to complete and it will give you good results too.” But hearing your reply made her pout even more replying, “But not everyone is like you oppa, we are not like you who are born to get first place in everything without even trying, studying is hard you know.” You gave her a chuckle and pat her hand that is warped around your waist, “Aigo you know if you need help you could have told me right, it is not like it will take me more than 2 hours to complete the essay of this difficulty.”. “Yeah yeah you and your smart brain, next time you will be helping me with all my assignments since you are so smart.”, with that you guys continue your banter on your way to school.

As your bike was approaching school Minji’s group of friends spotted you guys and Danielle let out a whisper, “Here come the power couple prince charming sending his princess.” This earn a laugh within the group of girls as you guys approach them you told them, “Here is your leader bear please don’t bully her too much.” You turn to Minji who is giving you puppy eyes as if she is calling for you to stay a little longer and gave her a hug whispering, “See you later bear, don’t miss me too much.” Hearing your tease she immediately blush with an obvious tint of pink and push her group to go when they are certainly taking picture and enjoy the rom-com that is happening in front of their eyes.

As the group was heading toward their class they were questioning Minji on her relationship with you, “Oh my god unnie are you guys dating, judging by how he has been sending you to school everyday regardless rain or shine and how he looks at you like you hung the moon for him, there has to be something more than friends.” said by Hanni. Haerin follow up by reminding Minji on the little interactions that she has with you that cannot be found on anyone else, “Yes unnie, you are always so shy and gentle with him which is so unlike you who is always so serious when you are with anyone else and don’t forget you always look at him like he is some prince charming coming to bring you to wonderland you sure there is nothing between you guys?” Hearing their words it made Minji grow tint of pink across her cheeks as she replied, “We are just very good friends guys we know each other since childhood of course we are going to be close, plus he probably treat me like a sister like look at me I am not as smart as him, I don’t have the looks nor the brains what would he see in me.” As she is denying the relationship between you two, deep down in her heart Minji wish that there is something more between the two of you other than being best friends as you are someone that let her be her as Minji and no need to put up any image. Hearing Minji’s self depreciation, Danielle immediately stopped her and told Minji to believe in herself and since Minji birthday is coming that she should invite you to celebrate with her, Danielle also told Minji who knows there may be something waiting for her if she is willing to take a shot at giving the two of you a chance.

Fast forward the lunch bell rang, you went to the cafeteria with your looking for Minji as a routine that you always have. As you were looking for Minji, the girls spotted you and Hanni wave for you to come to their table and join them for lunch. With the amount of time you were with Minji, the group basically know you as a part of them and they made you the honorary member of NewJeans at this rate just because of how close the two of you are. When you joined the table, Danielle let out a snicker, “Oh my unnie look how your prince charming has come to join you for lunch.” hearing Danielle you let out a chuckle and Minji slapped Danielle arms while blushing. As you guys were eating Haerin asked what is the plan for Minji’s birthday that is coming up and Hyein suggested that the group should go to lotte world which quickly gained the approval of the group. Hearing the plan for her birthday, Minji looked toward you asking would you be coming which you replied instantly, “Of course I will be coming Minji bear, I will literally drop everything in the world so that I will not miss your birthday, let be honest have I ever missed a birthday with you for as long as we know each other? Of course I will be coming don’t worry” Hearing your reply Minji’s heart skip a beat as it is true for as long as you guys have known each other you have never missed anything with her and you were always the first one to wish her happy birthday, this made her smile while looking at you.

With Minji’s birthday plan settled, you were thinking on what birthday gift you should give her as to you, you feel like Minji deserve the best in the world hence you decided to recruit help which is of course NewJeans (embodiment of chaos). You asked the group what gift would Minji like for her birthday, “Guys I need help Minji’s birthday is coming up and I am stuck on getting what for her as a present any suggestions?” Hearing your call for help Hanni laughed, “Come on man Minji would love whatever you get her as she don’t see item as the value but the person giving her the present which is you, she value you more than anything in the world so tell me you sure you don’t feel for her?” Hearing Hanni statement the rest of girls agreed with Hanni and started pressing you for your feelings for Minji, under their relentless questioning you admitted your feelings to Minji and how you wanted to confess to her on her birthday.” Knowing your plan, they all felt their heart warmed up, Haerin wholeheartedly told you, “Oppa what unnie care is you, just promise us that you will treat her right and don’t break her heart okay. I know this sounds crazy as the two of you are inseparable.” Hearing their words you promise them that you were treat Minji as if she is the greatest treasure you will ever get which is true as to you Minji deserve the whole whole and there is nothing that will you will change for her.

On the day of Minji’s birthday came the whole group was out at Lotte World, you guys were in for a crazy day as it has amusement rides roller coaster lots of screaming, snacks and joy you guys reach to sunset. While staring at the sunset waiting for the fireworks show, you turn to Minji and to deep breath calling her name but at the same time she also called for you. “Minji, I have something to tell you.” “Oh,oppa I also want to tell you something.” , you told Minji that what you were going to tell her is important and she listened, you held both her hands with all the sincerity in your heart and the memories of you two together speaks out, “Minji-ah I want to tell something, that I like you no I am in love with you from the day that we were kids until now I always had, from the first time we met at the playground where you approached me to play with to school, the first birthday we celebrated together. I realised that I want to spend all my time with you as you are my pillar my support and more important my Minji bear who gave me comfort when I needed it the most. When I say I love you, I love more than the bad times ahead of us, more than any obstacle that comes in our way and more than any distance in the world. Would you give me the chance to love you not just as a friend but someone who wants to be there in more ways?”

As you finish your confession tears started flowing down your cheeks when you looked up Minji was also tearing up and didn’t say anything. Just as you thought you got rejected, Minji pulled you towards her lips and gave you a deep kiss in time as the fireworks started. Under the fireworks once you recovered from the kiss, Minji smiled said, “Me too oppa, I love you too I thought you didn’t feel the same and hence I was scared to confess as I don’t want to lose you. I love you so much and I want to create more memory with you.” This point the NewJeans girls came towards you guys with a birthday cake wishing Minji a happy birthday Under the fireworks, Hanni teased Minji, “See told you there more than what you expect congrats you two better last long!!” With that all of you guys were laughing and smiling as this was certainly an unforgetable birthday for Minji and the start of something new for the both of you.
