Six years ago: Twice dormitory
(Y/N POV)
The pan sizzled softly as the kimchi hit the heat.
I glanced over my shoulder.
“Mitan, less ketchup this time. Trust me.”
She sat cross-legged on the couch, the soft waves of her hair flowing effortlessly beautiful around her neck. The cold Seoul morning did nothing to the warmth in the room. There she was watching me like this was the most important thing in the world.
“Mm… no. More.”
" OK, well tell me when to stop."
She looked at me as I squeezed the bottle, eyes wide with anticipation as I continued to squeeze.
"Stop."
I look at the plate eggs barely visible under the mound of ketchup.
"There's no way that you are going to enjoy this."
“Watch me!” she smiled wide while sitting at the dining table.
We ate in a comfortable silence for a couple of minutes tasting, judging our new creation.
“You know… This isn’t half bad” I said
“It’s amazing” she said, adding another helping of ketchup
We settled into another lull the sound of plates and chopsticks filling the air.
“Oppa…” Mina said in an unusually low tone.
“What's up Mitan?” I glanced up at her, meeting her eyes.
“I think I’m ready to start dancing again.”
My eyes grew wide and I shot up so quickly I stunned both of us. “WHAT? REALLY?”
She flashed her signature gummy smile. “Mmmhmm.”
I moved before I could think and pulled her into a deep hug.
“I’m so proud of you…”
I didn’t notice her body go rigid, I didn’t really know what possessed me to bear hug her, but it felt like the most normal thing in the world.
“Thanks Oppa.“ She said while melting into my embrace.
Then quieter, almost a whisper. “You’re going to be there with me right?”
“Of course.”
I felt her tighten her hold on me. “Promise?”
“I promise.”
“When do you think we can start?”
I pulled away, already looking for my phone trying to schedule some studio time at JYPE. Not noticing she was standing there with a heavy flush in her face.
“It looks like there’s something late tomorrow evening.”
Mina (POV)
My heart nearly exploded.
He’s over there in complete manager mode not realizing he almost killed me with a hug.
I can still feel his warmth wrapped around me, the smell of his fragrance, like fresh laundry and something woodsy. If I knew that me asking to go back to training was going to get that kind of reaction I should have done it sooner.
Who am I kidding, I wouldn’t have the courage without him. I could barely get out of bed before he started taking care of me.
But with him, I feel like we can do anything…
“Mitan? Hello? Mitan?” he said, waving with a concerned face.
“Are you ok? Your face is a little flushed, are you warm? I can turn the heater down.”
Oh goodness he’s looking right at me and I can’t even meet his eyes. What’s going on with me? “—Yes, no, I'm fine. I'm just excited.”
“Ok well there is an opening tomorrow afternoon, does that work for you?”
“Mm, yeah. I’m nervous I haven’t really moved in so long.”
“Oh you’re right, let me run to the store. You might need some ice packs or some anti swelling medicine.” He said while already grabbing his hoodie and keys.
“Oppa.”
“Oh, maybe some recovery drinks for electrolytes. And definitely some protein for dinner afterwards.”
“Oppa.”
“Shoes! With proper support!”
“Oppa!!” I grabbed his face and turned it to me. “It’s just dance practice, I appreciate the thought really but I have everything I need. I just need you there.”
