(Y/N's POV)
The next few months were just as blurry as the lines of our relationship had grown to be.
The wonderful thing is that Mina, slowly but persistently, was getting better. She stopped getting that long lost look in her eye's, her therapy sessions seemed to be helping, and home life. Well our home life has turned into domestic bliss.
I see the soft light slowly waking me up from the horizon, it's early, my back protesting from sleeping on the couch.
I got up ready to start breakfast, started the kettle and boiled some water. I pulled out a new pack of tofu and started slicing big chunks; she likes her miso with large pieces. I pull out some eggs and start to make our normal eggs, careful to make them more sweet and less salty. Long gone are the days of guessing what she likes, it's second nature now.
I heard her shuffling in the hall before I saw her. Her hair was tied in a messy bun and what I'm pretty sure is one of my old band shirts and what I hope are shorts but hard to tell over her oversized hoodie. We stayed up late playing animal crossing, well, she played I watched. She was dead set on catching all the types of fish on the island.
"Morning Oppa," she yawned as she grabbed the tea I just poured.
"Morning Mitan, do you want to have breakfast on the patio?" summer was in full effect and it was nice to be outside at least early in the day.
"Mmm that sounds good, let me help you"
Moving the plates and bowls over to the patio was easy with her help, our movements around the kitchen perfectly in sync, almost rehearsed. She had a favorite cup, I had mine, I like to cook, she likes to eat. We sat on the patio watching the sun come up over the buildings.
We bantered over last night's gaming session. She complimented me on my eggs for the 100th time. In the quiet of these walls. It was perfect. She talked about what she wanted to make her island next and how we should go buy a ps5 when it comes out.
I pulled out my sketch pad and started drawing, this time making sure that I caught Mina in the frame. She had the hood up just over her bun. Her legs pulled up, knees to her chest looking out at the city. My breath caught just staring at the scene. I don't think I've ever seen anything as beautiful as what is in front of me. I want to take it all in. The soft breeze, the rays of light peaking through the clouds and buildings. The profile of her face. Her soft features. The way her lips seem to be pouting when she's focused...
"Oppa, you're staring at me," She said without looking
"Ah sorry!"
"Can I see what you're drawing?"
My face turns a bright shade of red as heat creeped up my neck, "Uh maybe later, I'm not quite done yet."
"What? I don't care, let me see" as she turned to meet my eyes.
I got up quickly and made my way back into the apartment, "I think I'll start cleaning up-"
Her eyes burn a hole through me as a smirk forms on her lips.
She grabs at the sleeve of my shirt making me pause in the doorway as I close my sketchbook.
"Oppa, please?" she said giving me the most puppy-like face she could exaggerating her pout.
I almost folded like a house of cards, but my embarrassment wouldn't let me.
“Nice try! But I’m stronger than you think!” I said playfully moving back into the living room hugging my sketchbook.
Eyes glinting determination and a wide smile on her face. Mina pounced, jumping on my back wrapping her legs around my waist and locking them in with her ankles. Her arms flung around my neck reaching for the sketchbook in my arms.
“Mitan! Wait!” Her slight figure clung to me.
“Let me see!” She shouted with glee.
“Never!” More out of stubbornness than anything
“Oppa I know that you were drawing me!”
Just then I stumbled, tripping over the leg of the coffee table. Oh we’re going down. In one swift move I throw my sketchbook and grab Mina from my back and swing her to my front as we both topple over. I landed on my back and her on top of me. A blinding white pain shooting from the back of my head.
“Hey are you ok? Ouch!” I manage to ask.
“Oppa I’m fine but your head!” She reaches behind my head and rubs gently. “I’m sorry” guilt plastered on her beautiful face.
“I’m good, I’m good, how are you? Nothing hurt?”
“No, I'm fine,” she says softly.
A wave of relief flows over me and starts to chuckle. Both of us breathing heavily, we locked eyes. I suddenly realize that she’s on top of me straddling my torso, painfully aware of the heat radiating from her. For a moment we both pause just for a beat too long trying to break eye contact but unable to. Smiles shifting to something else. Anticipation maybe? Longing? Definitely. The energy in the room completely shifts as our faces are just inches from each other. You could cut the tension with a knife.
Her hands still behind my head she adjusts her grip tighter instead of pulling away. The faint smell of tea and something floral engulfs my senses as both of our faces flush. My world narrows, the sound of the street down below and the hum of the fridge all dissolves, replaced by a loud thumbing as my heart tries to jump out of my chest. She ever so slightly bites her bottom lip and my eyes dart downward breath hitching.
“Oppa I-“
ring ring
Mina’s phone was getting a video chat request from the balcony. Completely and utterly shattering the illusion.
She sighs in a huff finally breaking eye contact.
“I should get that.” As she slowly gets off me.
I laid there heart still hammering away. I can feel her heat still on me slowly cooling with the morning summer breeze coming from the outside where Mina is seemingly talking to her members.
I can’t tell if I’m dizzy from the fall or from just maybe what almost happened. She definitely was about to kiss me right? What in the world am I doing? What are we doing? I work for her! I'm supposed to help her get back to normal to be the star she's meant to be. I can't bring her down with my exceptional averageness. She's literally a princess.
“…Yeah Unnie, I’m doing good, yes I’m going to my sessions, yes I’m eating well Oppa keeps me fed. Hmmm? Yeah he cooks me food all the time.”
Mina steals a glance at me still on the ground and starts walking over.
Mina spins around capturing me in the frame “See Unnie, all taken care of. This big teddy bear made me breakfast”
“Yah! Y/N! Why are you on the floor!?”
"Just tripped wrestling a penguin."
"What?"
“You know, just questioning all my life decisions.” I deadpanned to Nayeon’s digital face.
"Wait wait wait you made Mina breakfast? You’ve never made me breakfast!”
