The same day
(Y/N’s POV)
And sent. Hopefully she got my text.
My world seems to have flipped on its head in the last hour or so. My mind is still racing from Nayeon cornering me in the hallway.
What was that?!
She…kissed me…
Does she like me?
There’s no way I’m just a grunt, a foreign one at that. Why did I touch her arm? It was way too forward. She’s a superstar and I’m well a failed artist.
She just looked so sad I had to do something.
What did she mean don’t fall in love with Mina?
I jumped in the company car they lent me and sped off to my apartment.
(Mina’s POV)
I sit on the balcony with a cup of my favorite tea. It took all the strength I had just to get out of bed—and this is as far as I managed.
The front door bursts open a chorus of shuffling shoes and soft conversation.
Sana’s bright face popped out from the sliding door. “Mi-tan! We’re home! Do you need anything l?”
“I’m ok Sana, thanks for checking in”
Momo squeezes past Sana and pats me on the head.
“Nayeon told us that Y/N will be managing you while we are gone.” Momo said.
My eyes falter as a familiar pang of guilt hits me.
“I’m glad it’s him, I think I can sleep easier if he’s the one here helping.”
“Yeah Mi-tan! Y/N will make this recovery a breeze! It makes me happy you have someone reliable to help.”
“Guys I-“
“Alright listen up everyone!” Shouted Jihyo from the living room.
“I want everyone packed and ready to go by 7pm tonight we leave 4am tomorrow morning”
I looked at Sana and Momo knowing they could feel the tension of having to shove months worth of clothes into suitcases.
“Please go get started,” I smiled at them.
I pulled out my phone as I slid back into the dorm.
Mina: “Y/N, I’m ok thank you. Don’t worry about me, I have the girls at least for tonight.”
I hope he doesn’t hate me.
I floated through the rest of the afternoon as the girls frantically packed all their belongings and the manager crew packed them up for the flight tomorrow.
There was a charged energy with everyone. They were ready they had worked so hard for this and they were ready to show the world who Twice is.
Each one of them came to me at some point and gave me similar encouragement or just hugged me. My chest tightens whenever one of them asks how I’m doing. I look away, nod when I should answer. The words sit heavy in my throat. When they turn to leave, my hand almost reaches for them—but I let it fall back to my side.
It’s near bed time. Half of the girls are either in bed or doing their night routine. I’m starting to fuse with the spot on the couch I’ve been stuck in for the last hour. Momo's head on my shoulder and Sana’s head on my lap both slowly dosing off.
“Girls, can I have a minute with Mina?”
The voice behind us was gentle. Careful.
“Nayeon-unnie?” I turned.
They stood. Sana pressed a quick kiss to my head before following the others out, the door clicking shut behind them.
The room felt smaller.
“Unnie… are you okay?” I asked.
She laughed softly. “Mina, you’re asking me that?”
“I just— you seem a little down today.”
“Maybe.” A pause. She exhaled. “Anyway.”
Nayeon lowered herself in front of me, knees touching the floor. She took my hands, warm and steady, like she’d done this a hundred times before.
“I’m going to miss you on tour,” she said. “TWICE doesn’t feel the same without you.”
“Unnie, please. I know you eight will be amazing. I just… I need time.”
The word stage lodged in my throat.
“Thinking about walking out there, I just—”
My gaze dropped. My fingers curled into her sleeves. “I can’t.”
“Mina-ya.” Her grip tightened. “It’s okay.”
Then—quietly, almost casually—
