A oneshot of a possible series for the Minju birthday challenge
She was one of 17 angels cast out from the heavens, no trumpet sounded their exile. No mercy was shown as the sisters were punished with a single sentence.
“I have given you all too many chances, as a last resort I must cast you out, I sentence all of you to join the mortals and sort out their endless conflict. .” Said the almighty lord, as he cast out his 17 angels to suffer the toils of the infinite wars of the mortal realm.
The 17 angels did not have their powers taken, but their abilities were greatly diminished, so much so that many of their wings disappeared.
Michael was the one who pushed them, he was the will of heaven. The lords command was clear,
Fall
They fell like lightning , their once holy ethereal glow began to dim but didn’t go out entirely as they came closer to the surface before crashing.
The 17 angels dominated the battlefield, at first they fought to survive. But slowly cracks in their grouping began to emerge. 7 of them chose to hide their divinity and fight for what is good, the remaining 10 embraced the corruption that claimed Lucifer eons ago and became monsters.
The final battle ensued and the 7 slaughtered most of their corrupted sisters with 3 escaping, the redeemed 7 then dispersed.
They scattered themselves across the globe , most of them took up lives as normal people but 2 of the 7 decided to hunt down their 3 escaped corrupted sisters.
A long time had passed since then, the lives of so many humans being born and dying but the 10 remaining angels are still here.
This is the story of how I met one of the 7, her name was Park Minju.
My own name is Taehyun and I met her when I entered University. She was beautiful, a religious studies major and extremely popular.
I didn’t know what she was then, and nothing could prepare me for when I did.
I found myself being pulled into her little friend group, her friends became mine and she seemed to take a special interest in me.
“Hey, Taehyun.” Her melodic voice called out to me, I immediately put all of my attention onto her.
“Y-Yeah?” I replied, cursing my voice cracks internally as I waited for what she had to say.
“You going to that upcoming party?” She asked, a soft smile on her face.
My thought process was further scrambled when she grabbed onto my arm gently.
“Please?” she pouted.
I ended up relenting and was forced to go to this crazy party on Friday.
I got there a bit late, it was 6pm and the party had begun an hour ago. It was rather chill, nobody was too loud.
I searched around for Minju and when I finally found her,my breath was taken away.
She was…………..glowing and her hair was a golden blonde?
She was talking to her friend Moka, they were sitting at a table with some other people. She hadn’t spotted me yet, and I didn’t want to interrupt her so I went to a couch and sat down.
I sat there for a few moments before something cold was pressed on the back of my neck, I turned around and it was Minu holding a can of beer.
“Hey handsome” She grinned down at me, tossing me the beer and moving to sit down across from me.
“I was wondering when you’d show up.” she continued as she sat down.
I cracked open the beer and took a sip, letting the alcohol numb my senses. Hopefully they’d make me less susceptible to her visuals.
She took a long sip of her own, her eyes never leaving my face. I’d seen at least 3 other empty cans by over where she had been sitting with her friends. This had to be her 4th drink, yet her eyes seemed as sharp as ever.
I reach out to try and stop her. “Hey, that’s your 4th drink. You should stop.” But she stopped me, pulling back with a grin.
“This is nothing, I haven’t gotten drunk in a long time…………..don’t even know if I can anymore.” Her face went eerily still as she said that, as if a thousand years of memories had gone through her head.
She schooled her face back into her usual smile the second she finished, sipping her beer again. “Drink up” She gestured to me.
Moka came over, holding another can of beer and sat down next to us.
“Hey there love birds” She cooed drunkenly, face flushed from all the alcohol.
Minju smiled, nudging her friend. The conversation flowed smoothly.
I watched her, and I noticed something………………she seemed to be glowing?
I told myself it was the alcohol making her skin flush, but her skin wasn’t flushed at all. And she seemed fully aware of what she was doing despite already having had 4 beers.
Right now, she didn’t seem like the college girl I knew. Something about her was off, then she stood up and excused herself.
I made my choice, tonight was not or never. I was going to confess
I got up to follow her discreetly, I moved silently through the crowd as she made her way across the large house.
The crowd got rowdier as the songs changed so I lost her. She’d gone down a hallway along the eastern part of the estate.
The crowd kept getting rowdier and rowdier so by the time i’d reached the entrance to that hall, she had already slipped around a corner.
“Crap!” i cuss as I rushed, rounding the corner only to come face to face with Minju.
“Why are you following me?” She asked, a frown forming on her face.
I froze, my face almost began to turn crimson. But this was my only chance! So I took a deep breath and met her gaze. “Park Minju, I like you.” I confessed.
Her face fell, she took a step back. She stared at me for a moment before speaking, but what came out wasn’t the voice of the girl I fell in love with.
“You shouldn’t love me Taehyun.”
“Well why not?”
“Because………..nevermind”
At that i’d had enough of whatever this is. “Why not Minju?”
Her eyes widened, panic filling them. Causing her to blurt out. “Because I'm a fallen angel!”
At first I laughed it off. “Seriously Minju? You can just tell me you see me as a friend.” I waved her off, looking away as I laughed.
But when my gaze returned to Minju, she was serious.
“Wait- You’re……….You’re a fallen angel?!” I yelled before she covered my mouth.
“Yah! People will hear you!” she shushes me.
She looked around in a panic. After a moment she calmed down, looking back at me.
“You…better not yell again” She muttered, taking her hand away from my mouth.
I stared at her for a moment. “If you really are one……….then prove it.”
She sighed, stepping back before closing her eyes and began to glow.
You don’t understand-she almost lit up the room.
It was unfair, how did she get prettier?
I found myself staring (as usual) but this time when she caught me her cheeks turned red.
We stood in silence staring at each other until footsteps came our way, too fast for Minju to notice.
Thinking fast, I grabbed Minju and kissed her using my body to shield her glow.
Minju stiffened, before melting into the kiss as her arms wrapped around my neck.
She pulled back for a moment, looking down shyly as her hands played with the hem of her shirt.
“That….” She began but I finished her sentence. “Amazing?”
She laughed softly, smiling up at me. ‘Yeah………..it was.”
Silence permeated between us, a nice and pleasant silence
We gazed into each other's eyes basking in this silence for a while.
But we were interrupted by Moka who walked over, holding drinks. “A-ha! There you two are. You guys secretly dating or something? You snuck off together.”
And just as I was about to say no, Minju took hold of my arm. “Yes, we are actually.”
Moka’s face went wide with shock, before it slowly curled into a smirk.
“I knew it!” she cheered, celebrating that she was right. “I could tell by how he always looked at you like a kicked puppy.”
Minju laughed into her sleeve. “Yeah, He did but its cute.” she turned to look at me, her eyes softened ever so slightly.
And just like that I started dating Kim Minju.
It’s fun, dating a fallen angel is more normal than you think- at least until she says some strange using her ancient wisdom.
But still, I couldn’t be happier.
