Midnight kiss

There was a girl sitting alone under the sakura tree in SOPA with her back facing the bleachers looking at cherry blossom petals falling, at the same time there was a boy behind her looking over everything for her. As you approached the girl sitting by the sakura tree with a smile and a box of her favourite strawberries, you tapped her on the back calling her name. “Hey Wony, what’chu thinking? Looking so dazed under the cherry blossom, here I brought for your favourite strawberries to cheer you up.” As if hearing your voice was a strong enough morale booster for Wonyoung, her gloomy mood immediately brighten up as she turns to you and gave you a bright smile greeting you. “Oh hi oppa sorry didn’t noticed you back there yeah, school and schedules are really pushing me to my limits. Thank you for the strawberries though it really help to cheer me up now, why not sit here and eat the strawberries with me, give me some conpany please.” Wonyoung asked you with an irresistible pout on her face as she is asking for your company with your instantly folded and sat down beside her staying by her side looking over her, internally hoping that Wonyoung would see you as something more than a childhood friend.

This small little sessions with Wonyoung were very common to the point that many would say that the two of you are inseparable as the amount of time you and Wonyoung spend together is almost 24/7. One day on the last day of the cherry blossom you invited Wonyoung out to go out on stroll with you at cheonggyecheon stream where you decided to take your shot at confessing to her. Wonyoung grabbed you by your jacket pulling you to a kiss, it momentarily caught you off guard as your eyes widen that your confession worked and that she felt the same for you. That was such as a warming flashback as you recalled how you got together with Wonyoung, as Wonyoung’s career started to bloom like the flowers from Iz* one to now IVE, the amount of time you spent with her started to decrease more and more. As the dates started to reduce, the texts messages between the two of you that used to be every moment anywhere became to simple one liners that took a long time to come back to you. On Wonyoung end at first when she heard your emotional outburst she was stunned as she didn’t know that you kept so much from her throughout the relationship just in a way to keep things calm between the two of you. But slowly tears started to fall off her beautiful face as Wonyoung started to comprehend what just happened the two of you where Wonyoung felt that she has been too selfish towards you that she has been binding you to something that even Wonyoung herself cannot hold on to anymore. Hence she decided to make a decision to let the both of you free, free from the binding that is holding you on like a vice but also a chance for you to live your life without worrying about her anymore. “Oppa I am so sorry, I’m so sorry that I made you feel like a ghost here maybe that for the better, we two should split up like that I am setting you free from the shackles that are binding you and you can live your life properly. Oppa let’s break up, I will go pack my stuff and head to the dorm. Please take care of yourself okay.”

Hearing Wonyoung’s words left you stunned as you could not believe that this was the nail in the coffin for your relationship as this wasn’t the first fight that the two of you gotten into but this certain was the worse and you thought that the two of you just needed some time to cool. But hearing Wonyoung’s call for a break up and seeing her back walking to the room that you once shared many memories in, you wanted to stop her and call her back however nothing could get out of your mouth as you see pack her things. When she was done packing her things, Wonyoung called Yujin who drove to your place before she was walked to Yujin’s car Wonyoung gave you a last hug bidding farewell to you and thanking for the memories. Yujin who was stunned also gave you a hug and told you its okay and although you were no longer Wonyoung’s boyfriend you are still a good friend of IVE and that you should not cut contact with them. But still being stuck in the emotions of what just had happened between you and Wonyoung, all you could do was to cry into Yujin’s shoulder telling her to please take care of Wonyoung and that tell Wonyoung that you never regretted a moment with her around you, hearing your words Yujin gave you a weak smile as she left with Wonyoung.

Ever since that day that you broke up with Wonyoung, life did not get any better for you as without Wonyoung now you feel like a husk of what you used to be where everything you see you would be reminded of memories that you shared with Wonyoung. When you started to drawing again, your artwork no longer had the warmth that it used to have with Wonyoung by your side as she was your greatest inspiration now your pieces felt sad and lonely devoided of any warmth. Although you have not contacted Wonyoung since that fateful day, you still maintain contact with the other IVE members whom knew of what happened between the two of you and they did not held any grudges for what had happened as they also knew how much have you scarified for this relationship. As the days past your apartment started to become a dumpster with cans of beer everywhere and dishes left on the sink all you have been doing was just drawing and rotting on your couch that you don’t even remember when you had a shower. Just as you thought it was going to be just another shitty day, you heard the lock on your door and saw a shadow enter your apartment a part of you hoped it was Wonyoung coming back to you, instead it was someone who you never thought would come visit you.

As you looked up from your desk that looked like a warzone, you saw Jiwon commonly know as Liz, Wonyoung’s groupmate entered the apartment. This left you puzzled on how she managed to enter your apartment as you questioned her on the matter, she reminded you that when you were still dating Wonyoung you ever gave IVE a key in case of emergencies to find you. As the memory flow back into your mind, you chuckled as you could not believe that you would let someone who is a good friend to see you in such a miserable state. Liz seeing you in such a miserable condition she could not help but to feel her heart clench for a moment as she knew how dedicated were you to this relationship but to see you spiral down was a whole new level for her. Liz immediately went forward to give you deep hug as she assure you that things are going to be okay and that she is here for you that she will take care of you now. Upon contact in the hug you could not help but to start to crying as you did not know when was the last time you felt such warmth ever since the break up and that to know that you still have someone that would care for you even if you were in the dumpster was heart-warming. In the hug Liz could not help to tease you telling you that you needed a shower as you smell like trash which you could not help but to show a small smile toward her teasing. “Wow oppa when was the last time you took a shower? You smell like a seafood market right now, you should go take a shower don’t worry about the food while you are showering I will go cook a meal for us.” As she push you to go take a shower, Liz started to clean up your place where she started off small by sweeping up all the bottle of beers and started cooking a meal for you as she see the boxes of delivery laying around, Liz wonder to herself when was the last time you had a proper meal.

When you were in the showers taking the first shower you had in probably days, you could not help to stare at yourself in the mirror seeing yourself in such a state, you could not help but to start tearing up again as you actually let yourself go once Wonyoung was out of your life. As you stepped out of the shower looking fresher than the state that you were in earlier, you smelled something that was coming from your kitchen that you lured you there, you were greeted by the sight of Liz cooking up a meal. Seeing her so focused in cooking, you couldn’t help but to tease her by walking behind and tapping her on the shoulder out of sudden this caused her to jumped and looked back. Looking at Liz’s shocked expression you could not help but to snicker at her reaction and she pouted at your laughter giving a light smack on the arm as she tell you that food is going to be done soon. When the food was done cooking, you and Liz was sitting at the dining table with a silence that wasn’t uncomfortable but instead it was warming that both of you know that you were in each other’s presence. As you were eating you could not help to asked Liz what brought her to your apartment, as if hearing your question caught her off guard she answer, “Well Oppa it has been a while since your break up with Wonyoung unnie and since then you didn’t really talked to us much this caused the group to be worried as we worry you might do something stupid. Since today is my off day, I decided to visit you to check up on you and to spend some time with you if you needed and lucky I came by today since if I didn’t, I had no idea how bad it has been for you?” Hearing Liz words it made you felt guilty as although you broke up with Wonyoung the IVE girls are still a good friends of yours, you felt bad that you let them worried for you despite their busy schedules but also at the same time you felt very giddy and a strange sense of warmth that despite her busy schedule Liz was still willing to spend her time with you. As the dinner continue the two of you were chatting about anything and everything until when you looked at the clock seeing that the time was getting late, you decided to bring Liz back to the dorm even if she refuses.

As you were sending Liz back to her dorm, an idea sparked into her head she took your hand and pulled to the park that was nearby and brought you on walk saying that it was about time for you to touch some grass. After the short but meaningful walk, you brought Liz to the enterance of her dorm bidding farewell to her and assuring her that you will take care of yourself, thanking her for visiting you and preventing you from rotting even more. Just before you left, Liz pulled you into a hug and telling you that she will visit more often and to just take care of yourself which you gave her smile. However this did not go unnoticed by Wonyoung who saw this by the window and the sight of Liz hugging you caused her heart to ache for a moment. With Liz entering the dorm, Wonyoung immediately pulled her to the living room and confronted her on why was she with you, as Liz was explaining why she visited you Wonyoung couldn’t help but to feel guilty for what she has caused you. As Wonyoung and Liz were chatting, Wonyoung couldn’t help but to ask Liz the question that does Liz have any feelings for you, hearing the question by Wonyoung Liz was stunned and could not answer as her face started to turned red. Seeing Liz reaction, Wonyoung already could tell that Liz had feelings for you but because of Wonyoung’s relationship Liz hid it down in her heart but now that you are single Liz couldn’t help but to care for you. This was where Wonyoung knew that maybe letting go of you was better for you as you deserve someone who can care for you all the way and in a moment of acceptance Wonyoung took Liz’s hand and looked her in the eyes. “Jiwon-ah, I know that you have feelings for oppa and I am not stopping you to see but please if he do accepts please treasure him and don’t hurt him like I did. Can you promise that to me that you will take care of him and give him the all love that he deserve, he is a good man he will be good for you.” While listening to Wonyoung’s sincere pled Liz started tearing up as she thought Wonyoung would be angry at her or that they start fighting because of you but instead Wonyoung was accepting all Wonyoung is asking is for her to take care of you that Liz immediately nodded her head as a promise to not only Wonyoung but also herself.

Ever since that day Liz came over to your place you have been spending more time with her where she would come over even on a lazy day just to spent time together watching a netflix movie or just having dinner, no matter what you were doing with her it just felt right. As the more time that you spend with Liz, you couldn’t help but to notice things about her that you had never knew when you were with Wonyoung and that Liz always give you a sense of comfort no matter what the situation was. Slowly but surely you knew that you catching feeling for Liz but you did not want to ruin anything that you had with Liz as it was her who pulled you out when you were at your worse instead you wanted to be just there for Liz giving her company she needs whenever life is too much for her, to just be the shelter that can shield her from the harsh reality of the idol world. With the consistent effort of Liz dragging you out of your shell that you had built up due to your break up, you started to feel the warmth that you had been hiding from for a long time. One day, Liz in a sudden thought pulled you to everland with her where the two of you had the blast of time of going to different rides and enjoying each others presences. Just as the day was about end under the fireworks show you looked at Liz who was staring intensely at the fireworks shows seeing the glow on her face at this moment you knew she was the right person for you. As Liz turned and locked eyes with you, there was a silent force that was pushing the two of your heads closer and closer to each other where under the firework the two of you shared a silent but passionate kiss. As the two of you separate from this kiss you could not help but to share a small but shy laugh as Liz with tears in her eyes confess her feeling to you and that she was sorry if she ruined anything between the two of you. While listening to her rambling you pulled her back into kiss replying her, “Of course you dummy, I love you too, with you by my side you gave me the warmth of the sun and that you gave me a meaning to continue you are the one that I want to be with forever and ever under the stary night. Jiwon-ah you are the one that I have spent my whole life drawing to and finally tonight under this firework show I have found the perfect art piece.” Listening to your confession Liz couldn’t but to chuckle at your confession teasing you that did you chatgpt this before confessing, with that you couldn’t stop laughing as the two of you held together looking at the starry sky thinking what would the future would be but at least you know you will be with each other.
