Baking in a Winter Wonderland

“You could always, Y’know,” Karina puts down her phone for a second, making a particularly suggestive gesture with her hands and mouth.

“Oh, grow up,” Minjeong rolls her eyes. “This is supposed to be special.”

“But it is special!” Giselle perks up. “Especially if you manage to get it all the way in.”

“And if you make eye contact,” Ningning adds slyly. 

Minjeong scowls at her three roommates, faint brows narrowing sharply. “I’m not doing anything of the sort,” she huffs.

“Relaaaax,” Karina draws it all the way out, placing a hand on Minjeong’s shoulder. “ We're just messing with you.”

“No you weren't,” Minjeong snaps.

“No we weren't,” she confirms with a grin.

“Well,” Giselle begins, “if the ‘ol sloppy toppy—” Minjeong winces at that “—isn't an option you could always get him a gift or something”

“Have you been listening to a single thing I've said? I don't wanna just buy him something.”

“You could always make something,” Ningning suggests.

Minjeong, more dejected now than mad, sighs. “I wouldn't know what to make.”

Karina ponders for a moment. “They do say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach,”

It’s Minejong’s turn to perk up. “I already have his heart,” she beams in sing-song.

“And him yours?” 

Minjeong lets out a dreamy sigh. “Don't I know it.”

“Ew, you're so sappy,” Ningning laughs.

“If not cooking,” Giselle tries to reason, “then maybe—”

“Baking!” Minjeong’s digital copy shouts from your video call.

“Baking?” You question.

“Baking.” She confirms.

“I don’t know the first thing about baking.” It’s true, you’re not even sure you know what exactly yeast is.

“Neither do I,” Minjeong reasons, “BUT, I thought it’d be a cute date idea.”

You smile. “Well, Minjeong, when you put it like that…”

“Half an hour,” she declares. “Get over here, NOW!
