I stepped out of the restroom and closed the door behind me. Even from downstairs, the sound of the girls laughing and talking could be heard.
"No, I'm just saying we should play fun party games, like Jackbox," Sakura's voice carried down the staircase.
"Ah, I want to too but I want some sort of competitive game, just so we can drink," Eunchae's voice replied in a mocking, childish tone. I was about to move towards the stairs but for some reason, my feet were glued to the spot. Something was tugging me to turn the opposite way, and something was beckoning me.
It was that same voice from inside Chaewon and Sakura's dorm room, the one that urged me to remember my roots. It was calling me and urging me to go somewhere, the feeling was familiar. Unexplored territory, treasure to be found.
My feet moved, and I was heading the opposite direction from the stairs. As much as the idea of playing drinking games was appealing, I knew that the pull inside of my mind was stronger. If past times had taught me anything, there was a reason for this commanding voice. I wandered aimlessly around Yunjin's first floor, taking note of the rooms around me.
From what I've seen so far, it looked like her family was well-off, the house was really nice. I couldn't see much as most doors were closed and didn't want to pry, but I did find something. Piles of shoes near a closed door. Something was telling me there was something special about this door.
I stood there for a bit, pondering until I came to some sort of conclusion. Could this be the door to the garage? People leave their shoes at the front door since it's an entryway. Maybe it's the same with the garage since her family park their cars and come through here.
I took a deep breath and exhaled, my feet moving towards the door. My hands turned the handle and opened it, the metal squeaking. Just as I predicted, this was the door to the garage.
The lights were off, and the entire room was entirely dark. I closed the door behind me and fished around in my pocket for my phone. Using the flashlight feature, I shined a light across the space. There were three cars parked, all lined up perfectly. Wow, her family really was loaded.
To the far corner, I noticed two square-shaped machines sitting against the wall. It was a simple washer-dryer combo, nothing extravagant. However, it was what could be found inside of it that caught my attention.
"Hm," I hummed, a thought popping up. Perverted, degenerate thoughts.
I walked over to the washer and set my phone on the top of it, the light shining in my direction. I could see the knobs clearly, and the settings. There was a pile of clothes sitting in the dryer, and I could make out the faint outline of clothes. Carefully, I popped open the machine and dug through the laundry, the clothes were dry and warm.
"This will do," I breathed, finding and pulling out a pair of dark blue panties near the top of the pile. They had to be Yunjin's without a doubt. They were still hot and warm, meaning the load must've been done today. Her parents have been gone so the process of elimination says these have to be hers.
Without a second thought, I held the panties up and inspected them. They were made of cotton and were simple, they were plain, and the color was dark. It was a pair of boy shorts, the design practical. I held them to my face and breathed in, the smell of fresh laundry and fabric softener was apparent.
"Nice," I mumbled, the scent pleasant. My pleasure was cut short when the grating sound of the garage door opening caught me by surprise. In a panic, I quickly threw myself to the floor and reached to grab my phone. Using my hand to cover the light, I laid low to the floor, using the machines as some sort of rudimentary cover.
The light from the house shined in, and Yunjin's figure was clear. From where I was crouched, the only thing blocking me was a car and the washing machine. The girl stepped into the garage and moved towards a fridge that was sitting against the wall. She pulled open the door and bent forward, her body halfway hidden.
She stood up and shut the door, a case of beer in her hand. It didn't look like she saw me but my heart was threatening to explode and make me drop dead right here. The girl turned and stepped back towards the door, her movements casual. I didn't breathe until the door was closed, and the sound of her steps vanished.
I shook my head and stood up, brushing off the dirt and dust. Motherfucker, I hate close calls. With a deep breath, I regained my composure and held up the panties again.
"Fuck," I whispered, my heart hammering. Shoving them down my pants quickly, I hurried to get back before they really suspected my disappearance. Of course, I waited a few moments before heading to the garage door just in case Yunjin was still in the area and spotted me walking out of her garage.
With careful and quiet steps, I opened the door and headed into the house. The coast was clear so I made my way back through the house and towards the stairs.
"Finally, there he is," Yunjin announced. All eyes turned to the stairs where I emerged from. Everyone was sitting in the middle of the loft, all gathered around a low-standing table with a bowl of snacks sitting in the middle. I threw them a sheepish smile and took a seat next to Chaewon.
"Hi, sorry, stomach cramp," I apologized, rubbing the base of my abdomen. Chaewon laid her hand atop mine and rubbed it gently, a kind and gentle smile on her face.
"It's okay, we were just trying to decide on what games to start with. I told them that we should start easy and play Jackbox, but they don't wanna," Sakura explained as she put her arms onto the coffee table.
"That's because we are all adults and have been drinking. We want something more than a trivia game," Eunchae shot back, her tone snarky.
"It's not just trivia," Sakura tried to argue but the tone came out more immature than she expected. The group laughed at the oldest's expense, the amusement causing Sakura to blush.
"We can just play 5 Second Rule," Anna spoke, her voice small as her finger touched the piles of board games.
"Ooh, I love that game," Kazuha exclaimed, her hand slapping the table.
"Hmm, how do we turn that into a drinking game," Eunchae asked, her eyebrows knitting together. This girl had an unhealthy obsession with drinking, I thought to myself.
"We have a lot of people too, why don't we partner up?" Yunjin offered with a suggestion coming to mind. Naturally, Chaewon squeezed my hand, a silent claim. Kazuha and Minji scooted together, the Japanese cousins shared a look, leaving the host and the youngest of the group together.
"I'm sorry, can you explain the rules, I've never played this before," Minji asked.
"A card will get drawn for you, and it'll be something like "Name 3, uh, Foods" then the 5 second timer will start and you have to name the three things within the time," Sakura went on to explain.
"I think we should play it like, the question gets drawn, and between the partners, one has to say one answer, then the other one has to say one, then back to the first person to finish it off," Yunjin clarified.
"If either partner fails, that's a shot for both of them?" Eunchae asked with the question sounding truly genuine.
"Sure, why not," Kazuha shrugged, agreeing to the new rules.
"Alright, I'm down, sounds fun," I nodded.
"Let's do this," Chaewon declared. For a moment, we cleared the table to make room for the game. Shot glasses were passed around and shots were taken, just to get us in the right mindset. The mood was light and everyone was chatting away, the alcohol in their systems starting to peek.
Yunjin was the one who was given the responsibility of the cards and was going to be the timer. Once everything was settled, we were ready to start.
"Alright, first card, hmm, let's do Sakura and Anna first," The host said as she looked at the first card. "Ah, this feels kind of racist? It says 'Name 3 Sushi Rolls'!" Yunjin laughed as she flipped the timer.
The two Japanese girls were too busy being bewildered and laughing to even try and come up with an answer. Sakura said through bouts of chuckles, "Ca-California?"
Anna was giggling too much to finish it off and the timer finished at 5 seconds.
"Nope, those are shots for the both of you," The host announced. Everyone was laughing, and the energy was high. The cousins took their shot and both of them hissed.
"Fuck, this is strong," Sakura gasped, the burn hitting her throat.
"Okay, Kazuha and Minji," Yunjin called out, flipping the next card. The two girls had their attention at the ready, and both of their eyes were glued to the clock.
"Name 3 types of teas," Yunjin read.
"Green!" Kazuha shouted.
"Oolong," Minji called out.
"Sweet," Kazuha blurted out.
"Ehhh, I guess that counts," Eunchae joked, sighing when she didn't get to pour out the shots. "Chaewon and Minjae," Yunjin called out, the card flipping in her hand.
