Hanwoo and Gaeul have been dating for months since the bullying incident. Both of them got accepted at their respective universities, but it also caused some thorns between them, resulting in a ruptured relationship. Hanwoo met Haewon, and things got even more complicated from there.
Gaeul and I hadn’t spoken for weeks; there were no calls, no messages, and not even a hint from her since that incident. I know I’m not being reasonable here, but I feel like I have the right to do this since what happened hurt me the deepest, right down to my core.
“You’ve been well these past few days, I’m glad. You’re eating well, and you’re attending your classes again.” Haewon said as we walked outside the campus.
“Well, I should not let my studies go down even if I'm battered up.” I sighed deeply. Remembering how Gaeul might’ve cheated on me. I have no solid proof of it, but I saw it, as clear as the purest crystal mankind has ever found. Not just me, even Chanmin saw it.
I walked with my head down; it’s this feeling again.
“Yeah, you look fine on the outside, but you're torn inside. Cheer up! You’re young, we’re young.” Haewon poked my chest. She wears this pure smile that eases the pain inside. Right, she’s here to cheer me on.
“Hanwoo.” That voice, I looked straight and saw her. That familiar expressionless, cold facade she wears. It’s Gaeul.
“You dare to cut your communication from me? And who’s this?” She looks very mad, I can’t blame her. Someone must have been playing with her toy.
“Gaeul, we need to ta–” I got cut again! How many times does this have to happen? Do all girls do this all the time? Haewon held my shoulders and moved in front of me, facing Gaeul.
“Who is this?” Crossing her arms, tilting her head, studying the woman who just blocked her sight from me.
“I’m Oh Haewon, Seunghoon’s sister.” Haewon introduced herself with a straight face. There’s little to no person who can do that if they knew what kind of person Gaeul is.
“I’m not talking to you, boba eyes.” Gaeul tilts her head to the other side, looking for me, but Haewon once again blocks it. Gaeul straightened up and is now furious.
“Hanwoo won’t speak to you, squirrel cheeks,” Haewon said, crossing her own arms, mirroring Gaeul.
“Okay, Haewon. What’s your business with Hanwoo? You’re bullying him like what your brother did to him?” Gaeul said. I should step up and put a stop to this.
Haewon has been good to me since we met. She kept apologizing for her brother's place nonstop; she had this boulder of a burden on her back. Facing Gaeul would be too much for her; I should stop this.
“I like him,” Haewon said, straight to Gaeul’s face. I’m shook, my jaw dropped.
“So that’s how it is.” Gaeul’s brow twitched. She grinned; she found something interesting enough to catch her full attention.
I can sense a Mexican standoff between the two. Gaeul was obviously ready to strike Haewon, and Haewon didn't step back and stand on her own. I don’t know who to stop or how the fuck even to do it.
I always feel my life is under threat every damn day, but it will surely get worse after this. What’s worse than this?
