“Hello, anyone in there?”
Shaken out of your stupor, you remember where you are and more importantly who you are with.
“Sorry, I got distracted”
“By my beauty?”
“Stop being narcissistic Ahyeon”
“It’s not being narcissistic if it’s true.”
And that right there was the problem. She is known as the campus princess and for a good reason. She was smart, caring, beautiful, etc.
Grabbing your face and forcing you to look at her, Ahyeon says “Are you sure about that Y/N?”
Unable to voice a response, you just sit there looking at her angelic face.
“Cat got your tongue?” Ahyeon said while smirking.
“Whatever”
“Just admit it, you think I’m beautiful. Stunning even!”
“You… are not ugly”

“Fine, you are relatively pretty'“
“Humph, good enough I guess. But you owe me ramen.”
“Alright, let’s go”
“Where do you…” you start to say but before you could finish your question, Ahyeon had already grabbed your hand and started dragging you along with her.
“So, where are we headed?”
Smiling at you, Ahyeon said “The Han River!” which caused you to raise an eyebrow in confusion.
“Isn’t ramen at the Han River like a couple thing?” you ask.
Ignoring your question, Ahyeon kept walking, making sure to not let go of your hand.
After a few more minutes of walking, you two finally arrived at the Han River. Grabbing some ramen from the closest self serve ramen spot, you two found a nice little spot and settled down to eat. Naturally, the second she sat down, Ahyeon began to devour her food. While she was scarfing down her food, you noticed that some broth on the side of her face. When she finally took a second to breathe, subconsciously you grabbed a napkin and wiped her cheek clean. Not thinking any deeper of what you just did, you continue eating, not noticing how Ahyeon had completely stopped moving. After finishing your food, you look up and see Ahyeon staring at you.
“What’s up? Do I have something on my face?” you ask.
But instead of getting a verbal response, all you receive from Ahyeon is a shake of her and a heavy sigh. Confused, you start looking around at your surroundings to pass the time while Ahyeon finished her food and all you saw was couple after couple. Some were eating ramen like Ahyeon and yourself, some were walking and holding hands, and some were even bold enough to kiss in public. Seeing couples kiss caused you to blush, which of course Ahyeon noticed. Looking around to see why you were blushing, Ahyeon tracked your line of sight to the kissing couples. Seeing what made you so shy, Ahyeon's face lit up. Like a cat tracking a mouse, Ahyeon slowly, subtly inched closer and closer to you until she was practically on top of you. Still distracted by the brazen couples, you turned your head and were immediately greeted by the face of your best friend (and long time crush although you would never admit it). Shocked by her proximity, you jump back which only caused Ahyeon to smirk and crawl closer to where you had landed. Confused and a little scared, you kept inching backwards ,which only emboldened Ahyeon, until your back met a tree trunk. Cornered, all you could do was sit there as Ahyeon came closer and closer to you until you two were nose to nose. The proximity and implications of what was about to happen had your heart beating faster than you had ever felt it and caused your face to become even more flushed. Noticing this, Ahyeon started to lean closer to you inch by inch until her lips were only one small push away from meeting yours. Closing your eyes in anticipation for the eventual kiss, you sat there with your eyes closed for a kiss that never came. Opening your eyes, you were greeted by Ahyeon rolling over in laughter.
“Hahahaha, Y/N you really wanted me to kiss you didn’t you?” Ahyeon said while curled over in laughter.
“No I didn’t! Shut up!” you yelled while your face was completely red in equal parts embarrassment and anger.
“Sure you didn’t Y/N.” Ahyeon said before whispering in your ear “It will be our little secret” and giving you a kiss on the side of your mouth. Stunned by her boldness, you sat there shell shocked. Not giving you time to recover, Ahyeon then stood up, grabbed both of your now empty ramen bowls, and started walking away before looking over her shoulder and saying “Aren’t you coming Y/N?” and giving you a coy wink.
Stumbling to get up, you chase after her. Catching up right after she had gotten rid of your trash, you fall into step with your beautiful and confusing best friend. Walking in silence, Ahyeon suddenly stopped and turned to you with a wistful look in her eyes.
“Do you know why I haven’t accepted any confessions Y/N? It’s because I’m waiting for the right guy to ask.”
Not giving you a chance to respond, Ahyeon looked you in the eyes before continuing “I guess I’m just waiting for the guy I really like to grab me by the waist and kiss me. That’s why I didn’t kiss you back there”.
Not sure why she was telling you this, you stood there looking at her with a puzzled look.
Seeing that you weren’t going to do or say anything, Ahyeon gave a light sigh before starting to walk away.
ding ding ding
Smacking yourself in the face, you sprint after her. Catching up, you spin Ahyeon around before grabbing her by the waist, lifting her head up to meet yours, you capture her lips in a kiss packed with years of near misses and love unspoken. After what felt like an eternity, the two of you finally separated.
“Finally” Ahyeon said before wrapping her arms over your shoulder and bringing you in for another kiss.
