The oaken doors closed behind me and I heard the two angels of time clash. Sakura with her golden sand and Seraphiniel with her black sand.
I trust Sakura to handle Seraphiniel alone, yet I don't trust myself to be in the same space as two temporal angels as they clash. My mind may turn to mush and I fear I may end up leaving the hall as an old man or a baby.
I marched towards the wall, Sunset's Blade in my hand, my daggers on my hip, and Chaewon's feathers in my belt. The Order of the Golden Leg fired relentlessly from the battlements and crenellations and as I climbed the walls, I was greeted with acknowledgements of "Wraithslayer". I tapped Ragon on the shoulder as I stood beside him while I scanned the battle outside the walls. Yunjin blazed in a deadly dance of fire with Purity Wraiths, then my heart leapt with joy to see Runan and his longbeards in the fray, fighting against Zealots and preventing them from raising ladders to scale the walls.
"I never expected you to be here." I told Ragon.
"When Master Alton announced that the Lady Sakura has called us to defend your Ancestral Seat, we didn't hesitate. We need to repay the favor you did to us as much as we can." Ragon replied, all the while loosing arrows at Zealots.
"Anya?" I asked.
"At the village down below. Sunset's Point they call it."
"Good. You keep making me proud, Ragon of Edoras." He smiled as he loosed another arrow.
I rejoined Chaewon at the main battlement, Alton Golden-leg by her side as she watched the ebb and flow of the battle.
She must have sensed my presence as she turned her head slightly to acknowledge me. "Does the Lord of the Edge wishes to take command?" She asked, a hint of a tease in her tone.
"No. I have a more capable Commander already." I smiled at her. "Besides, I'm a better soldier than a commander anyway."
"You have your moments, Seren."
"Is that a compliment, my Lady?" I teased.
"Shut up. You are under my command today." She said, trying to act with authority but the slight blush in her face made it all worth it.
"Will Sakura be alright?" She asked.
"Do you really need to ask?" I answered.
"I guess not."
"How about Yunjin?"
"Fiery as always. She's my wildcard for this battle. Just let her run wild and anything that gets past her and the archers are taken care of by the longbeards."
"Pretty straightforward."
"This is a rushed defense, we're doing good enough as it is. And the wall was not maintained for a while."
"And Nemethel."
She smiled, then. "I think you're about to witness something rare, Seren." She said, pointing towards the spatial prison, inside were Kazuha and Nemethel.
I should have felt nervous for Kazuha, she was the first one I met of the Fallen. I traveled with her the longest. I kissed her and made love with her first. And yet, my heart was at ease, there was no fear whatsoever that she will be defeated in her battle. She already won against Nemethel at Dazkora, though she was interrupted by Valamar's arrival.
Just then — she glowed, then her wings transformed from dark and jagged obsidian to flowing silver ribbons wrapped in starlight. Stillveil changed as well, from predominantly black with silver streaks to its inverse.
