Five graves. I dug five small graves once Yunjin and I were out of the bubble.
I buried the heads of my family, facing them west to the direction of the sunset, to where Sunset's Edge is.
Yunjin was with me the whole time, yet she remained silent. Her warmth remained — not the fire of battle, but the quiet heat of a friend, a lover, as she keeps company to a grieving partner. Not intrusive nor invasive, but just the presence itself is enough.
We reappeared in another ruin similar to the one that sucked us in. The Compass said all of these ruins are connected, so we may enter in one yet return from another. Yunjin immediately flew to search for her sisters but they were not in the immediate vicinity.
As the sun set and darkness crept, we decided to make camp by a stream. A formation of rocks provided natural cover from prying eyes.
We sat by the fire after I finished eating some fish I caught by the stream after we made camp.
"Are you okay, Seren?" Yunjin asked softly.
I merely nodded.
"It's just... unsettling." Yunjin continued. "Your silence, I mean."
I allowed a faint smile. "Not used to me brooding?"
"Uh-huh. Even you're not used to you brooding."
"How does it feel?" She asked.
"How does what feel?" I answered.
"Vengeance."
I thought for a moment. "Satisfying. When I plunged my daggers into its head. And then..." I paused.
"Emptiness." Yunjin finished.
I nodded. "My family is still dead. And Seraphiniel still lives."
"Her time will come. I know you and Sakura will give her what she deserves."
"We will. That is a promise to my family. One final act to honor them."
A comfortable silence. Heavy, but safe.
"So, what do you plan on doing next?"
I thought for a while. Then pulled out one of Chaewon's steel feathers. "I'm going to find Chaewon."
"I? Not we?"
"Sorry, Yunjin. But I need you to find your sisters for me while I search for Chaewon."
"I'm not leaving you to travel alone."
