Tiffany’s marriage registration makes the headlines on the 27th—a date Taeyeon thought was theirs. Taeyeon doesn’t react. Until she does.

Taeyeon sat at the kitchen table, the iPad in front illuminating her face in a ghostly gleam, while the rest of her was enshrouded in shadow.

Girls’ Generation’s Tiffany and Byun Yohan have completed their marriage registration today (27th).

Taeyeon’s phone was a distance away, ignored. It constantly lighted up from the influx of texts and calls, no doubt from the visitor outside her door.

The time on the screen read 8:27 pm, but Taeyeon didn’t care. She didn’t care how long she had been sitting here. She didn’t even care if she had eaten dinner.

The incessant buzz of the intercom was relentless. Taeyeon begrudgingly lifted her hand and pressed a button, opening her front door.
The visitor wasted no time in hurrying in, only momentarily pausing to let her eyes adjust to the darkness surrounding the entire house.
“Kim Tae Yeon. What is the meaning of this?!” Tiffany ran her hands through her hair in frustration.
“We are no longer children. Could you please act your age? I can’t possibly drop everything and come over to coddle you every time something like this happens.”
Taeyeon stayed silent; eyes glued to the screen, fixated on the headlines.
“We’ve discussed this, Taeyeon-ah. Nothing is going to change between us.”
Tiffany searched Taeyeon’s face for any kind of response, but Taeyeon was still—it was as if she was a sculpture on display, with the iPad’s glow serving as her spotlight.
“Fine,” Tiffany said as she threw her hands up in exasperation. “If you won’t talk, I hope you’ll at least listen.”
Tiffany took a deep breath, calming herself.
“Yohan understands and has agreed to the arrangement. He knows who you are to me. He’s not going to stand in the way of us.”
Tiffany paused, searching for the right words.
“He’s a nice man, and someone whom I can foresee myself having a conversation with for the rest of my life.”
Tiffany saw Taeyeon’s jaw clench at the mention of her soon-to-be husband’s name, but otherwise, there was no indication that she was listening at all.
“Taeyeon-ah, you’re scaring me. Please say something… Do something, please.”
Tiffany’s voice cracked on the last syllable, and something clicked and shifted in Taeyeon.
She slowly rose from her seat and approached Tiffany, cornering her till her back was flush against the nearest wall. Taeyeon’s face was still expressionless, but her eyes held a fire that was all too familiar to Tiffany.
