“I love you”
You both say at the same time, just part you agreement with your best friend yunjin on a random weekend, saying what’s on your minds.
No filters, no holding back.
Just the truth and only the truth.
It’s quiet, both of you don’t say a word to each other, but the pink blush on both of your faces tells everything you both need to know, only the sound of the waves coming from the empty beach echoes in your ears, but eventually Yunjin breaks the silence first.
“For how long?”
A small sigh comes from your mouth before you speak while looking at the waves moving back and forth. “3 Years, since Senior year of high school”.
“Oh…” she says, now looking at the beach as well, a couple seconds of silence before its your turn to ask
“How about you?” You ask, turning your head slightly but still looking at the waves.
“2 Years” she responded, you could see her inching slowly toward you, feeling her fingers touching yours.
“Why?”
A bit confused at her question. “Why what?”
“Why do you love me?” She adds, now both of you are looking at each other again, you could swear you could hear your heartbeat like it was in your ear, but you take a deep breath and explain.
“Because… you are you?” I mean i don’t know…you are awesome…you are pretty, you have always been here with me… you are always so energetic and enthusiastic…and it made me just…love you?” You say, just thinking about the reasons makes you smile, “i mean i don’t, i am just rambl-”
A small giggle comes out of her mouth as she stops your monologue. “I think i heard enough…” she said, turn your eyes at her again as you see Yunjin in front of you, even with how dark it is you can clearly see her smiling at you widely, just like the first time you met her.
“You look like a tomato” Yunjin teasingly
“Oh look who speaks, your cheeks are pink as well from all the blushing” you respond, both of you are now sharing a genuine laugh together while she gives you a small punch to your shoulder, eventually you both stop laughing as your eyes turn back to the waves, now your right hand and her left hand are intertwined with each other, eventually Yunjin breaks the silence.
“So… what are we now?”
“Boyfriend and girlfriend?”
Yunjin thinks for a second before looking at you, then leaning forward to give you a small peck on the right cheek, “Yeah…i think i like the sound of that” she responded, giving you a small wink as you cant help but smile back and return the favor, making Yunjij blush lightly.
You are both back looking at the quiet sea, no one is here beside you making the moment even more serene, pure some would even say, you suddenly feel Yunjin’s head resting on your shoulder, her now tired eyes looking at you with sheer, genuine joy
“Tired?”
No response but instead a small movement akin to a nod can be felt in your shoulder, in response you take your right hand behind Yunjin, letting it rest on her shoulder seeing that she takes your other hand and putting it in front of her, letting you fully embrace her.
Looking at Yunjin you could see her eyes are fully closed while smiling, feeling comfortable enough you lean into her and give her forehead a small kiss, a bit surprised as she opens her eyes now, looking at you with a wide smile
“Corny ass” she whispers
“Shut up” you retort, closing your eyes and letting yourself truly enjoy the moment
