Winter chronicles pt2: Jimin still very much dislikes winter (the season!), but she loves Minjeong way more. So she reluctantly accepted to go on an outing with her in the middle of december... However, it turns out that Minjeong brought her to her favorite place in the world... the aquarium.
“Minjeongiiie, are we still far? It’s way too cold…”
Minjeong sighed, as she strengthened her grip on the whiny older girl’s hand. Jimin couldn’t help but to let out a deep sigh as well.
Don’t get her wrong. She loves Minjeong a whole lot, truly. She would gladly go and steal the moon if the younger woman asked for it. Hell, she could become a highly wanted criminal just for her girlfriend!
But there’s something she absolutely cannot bring herself to do, even if Minjeong got on her knees and pleaded for it. It’s going out on a snowy and deadly cold day.
So how did she find herself in this unfortunate position, and more specifically out on a snowy and freezing day? Well, Minjeong just had to give her her best puppy eyes, and Jimin was in. Darn you, Kim Minjeong! Her power on Jimin should definitely be studied…
And this explains how Jimin reluctantly found herself walking hand in hand with her dearest girlfriend, on a December afternoon, heading to who knows where. If Minjeong had at least told her about where they were headed, maybe Jimin would have been more compliant to bear the cold for her! But imagine finding yourself in your most dreaded situation, and not even knowing why…
At least, her small and frail heart managed to get warmed up a bit by the soft and slightly bigger palm holding hers. And if she wasn’t feeling a tad grumpy, she knows that she would have been an absolute blushing mess because of it. They have been dating for a while already, and started holding hands even before they became a thing! But the effect Minjeong has on her never faltered nor decreased.
“Come on Jimin, don’t sulk!” Minjeong tugged the gloomy girl’s hand a bit. “I promise it will be worth it.”
Despite wanting to keep her very much discontented pout, Jimin immediately felt her features softening after hearing her lover’s soft and melodic voice.
“M’kay…”

“Oh my gosh Minjeong, I can’t believe it!! Is this real or am I still dreaming? Gosh, it’s too good to be true, I’m sure we’re still sleeping at the apartment and-”
Jimin’s rant abruptly got interrupted by a sudden featherly touch on her cheek. The warmth immediately made the older girl go silent, as she visibly folded under a simple peck.
The culprit smiled at her, while caressing the back of her hand with her rosy thumb, cold from the still very much cold air surrounding them.
“I told you it would be worth it.” Minjeong smugly sent a grin towards Jimin, who just stood there, dumbfounded, her eyes full of stars.
Now, there are two things Jimin loves more than anything in this world. First, there’s obviously Minjeong, it goes without saying. And then, there are sharks…
So when Minjeong eventually led her in front of their city’s aquarium, Jimin felt ready to propose to the younger woman right here and there. She hadn’t visited one in years, unfortunately not having the occasions to do so. And the many aquariums that she visited in the past sadly didn’t have any sharks... So it would be an understatement to say that Jimin wasn’t absolutely thrilled about this whole ordeal.
All signs of sulking and annoyance vanished from her features, leaving space to an almost child-like grin and amazement. Minjeong found herself melting at the sight of her girlfriend’s marvelment, and softly tugged her hand, in an attempt to catch her attention.
“Hey Jimin, it's cold… let’s go inside?” However, the older woman showed no signs of moving, nor listening. Minjeong pouted, and laced her arms around Jimin’s.
“Come onn,” she whined. “Pretty please?”
Still nothing. So much for hating the cold, Yu Jimin! It seemed like Minjeong had no other choices but to resort to her ultimate strategy… If words weren’t working, then actions surely will!
The young woman placed herself in front of the raven, and looked up to see her girlfriend’s - still very much focused on the aquarium’s entrance - face. Without wasting a second, she cutely stood on her tip-toes, and put both of her gloved hands against the older woman’s cheeks, before placing her cold lips against Jimin’s.
She definitely had to catch her attention though, so Minjeong purposely stayed in her position, and deepened their kiss. Jimin’s lips felt so tender and surprisingly warm against hers, and Minjeong found herself getting lost in the heavenly sensation. And for a second, she completely lost sight of her initial goal to catch Jimin’s attention.
Luckily, it seemed to have worked, because she immediately felt Jimin reciprocating the touch, as well as the raven’s cold hands wrapping around her waist.
Minjeong 1, Aquarium 0. Take this, aquarium!
Unfortunately, both the cold and their lungs became an issue at some point, and they sadly had to part ways.
“M-Minjeong… wh-what was that for..?”
Jimin’s mouth looked slightly swollen, and the sight made Minjeong’s heart thump even harder in her ribcage. However, she already got way too distracted!
“Are you finally listening to me now?” she deadpanned, fighting against an obvious grin.
Jimin’s eyes widened a bit. “W-wait…” 3… 2… 1… “Kim Minjeong!!” Jimin looked baffled, finally realizing what had just happened. “You evil woman… come here!”
However, Minjeong was one step ahead, because before Jimin could even catch her, the young woman dashed towards the entrance of the aquarium.
Exasperated, but very much satisfied, Jimin ran after her girlfriend, her loud giggles echoing in the aquarium’ parking lot.

“Did you know that whale sharks have teeth on their eyes? And each whale shark’s spot pattern is as unique as a fingerprint! They’re the biggest fish in the ocean, and can grow to 12.2 meters, and weigh as much as 40 tons by some estimates! Isn’t that awesome?”
The two of them were currently standing in front of the aquarium’s biggest tank, where a whale shark was peacefully swimming around. Jimin, bundled under her thick blue scarf, was busy nerding out about sharks, all while expressively pointing at the animal with every new fact.
Minjeong smiled at the endearing sight. She got closer to her girlfriend, and brushed her messy bangs a bit, before readjusting Jimin’s round glasses.
“It is awesome!” she replied, happily mirroring the older woman’s enthusiasm. “Please tell me more, teacher!”
This made Jimin giggle. She took Minjeong’s hand in hers, and resumed her rant, while walking around the tank with Minjeong in tow.
“The other day, I found out how they eat, and they’re so awesome Minjeongie!” Her eyes were full of sparkles. “In their natural habitat, they spend around eight hours a day gulping around 10 000 gallons of ocean water! The opening of their throat is covered with about 20 giant pads that have hundreds of tiny holes. And as the seawater goes in, these pads filter out the food. It’s kinda like a colander catching spaghetti while the cooking water drains out! And then, the water escapes through the shark’s gills, and the food is pushed down its throat. Nature really is amazing, isn’t it?”
Minjeong fervently nodded at each and every explanation Jimin was providing. And being a naturally curious person, learning about all of those facts was a pure bliss. Her own eyes quickly mirrored the sparkles in Jimin’s.
“Woah, I really didn’t know, that's actually so cool!”
“It is! Sharks really are the best!” giggled the raven, her cheeks adorably squished against her big scarf.
Hearing this, Minjeong couldn’t help but to tease her girlfriend a little bit. “What about me?” she teasingly pouted.
“Hm?” Jimin turned her head to face the younger woman, who tried her best to act all sulky, although the slight crinkles of her eyes easily betrayed amusement. “What about you silly?”
“Tell me Jimin-ah…” Minjeong suddenly looked so serious. “If you had to choose, would you pick sharks or me?”
Jimin let out a small giggle at the ridiculous question. “It goes without saying Minjeongie!” This made the younger woman smile wider.
“I would choose the sharks of course.”
Minjeong couldn’t believe her ears! She swiftly smacked Jimin’s arm, whining. “Yah, Jimin! You weren’t supposed to say that!”
And to her utmost dismay, Jimin started to laugh even harder. “Hahaha, you should see your face! You look like an angry puppy.”
And now she’s comparing her to a puppy? Second offence of the day, Yu Jimin! Another smack on the arm.
