Anyone with a scattershot brain knows how hard it is to take a clusterfuck of ideas, assemble it into something coherent, and drag the whole damn thing over the finish line. As of today, Jeju Heat is over that line. This work was born in 2024 from a triptych: a frivolous smut setup; my own struggles with grief, guilt, shame, and growing up; and a devotional admiration for a group of girls whose struggles mirrored mine. Somewhere along the way, those three roots fused into one. Some judged its provenance without reading a word of it, without understanding its purpose or the sheer work it took to finish. Yes, it’s comically long. Yes, it contains a lot of sex. Yes, it's a slow-burn romance. But beneath all that is my life's understanding of the courage it takes to be seen, known, and loved; a character study on the psychological cost of hostile consumption, using the k-pop industry and real events as metaphor. Obviously, I didn’t enjoy seeing my work suffer the same fate as the real people my characters are modeled after; to see two years, thousands of hours, and unhinged care flattened into something disposable by the same surface-level, reductive gaze the entire work exists to critique. Because it was never just a smutty fanfic to me. It is my whole life memoir encoded into a ridiculous, horny story. I write wounded characters carrying pieces of my own life so that by healing them on the page, I might find my own; I shared it because I believe in storytelling: the gift of author and audience meeting in the middle, in joy, in grief, and in shared solidarity of the human spirit. Fanprose became a home for this. I am very grateful to @mysonesecret for the warm invite, and to everyone who stayed to the end. I hope this story stays with you. And maybe, when you see these girls on stage, you'll remember what their fictional counterparts survived in a villa on Jeju Island during the summer of 2024, and how they came out stronger on the other side.

A summer vacation on Jeju Island was supposed to be simple - sun, saltwater, and the same careful dance Minho (OC) and ITZY’s Yeji have maintained for years. Instead, their FWB dynamic gets pulled into the chaos of her group vacation, dragging up old memories, buried wants, and a version of each other neither has ever really let go of. What begins as sex quickly turns deeper, messier, and harder to name.
