Apologies beforehand as I am not sure I am adding any useful insight to this topic, but after having just listened to the new Hybe collab song, I am baffled as to what Hybe was attempting to accomplish with this song. It feels like this song was released as a response to some unwarranted hate these groups may have received. However, if you are going to do an anti-hater song, you had better be sure the song is actually very good or clever in some way. Otherwise your song is just going to add fuel to haters. It is like being criticized for singing poorly and you decide to respond by singing louder and even worse. It is not even clear why this is even a collab as the three different groups didn’t really interact, harmonize or have any chemistry together that would help with having fans cross fandoms to the other groups. If you told me the scenes in the MV were all filmed separately and they never met each other on set, I would believe you. SM’s Got the Beat, (who released music that also had its own mixed reviews) at least felt like an actual collab. I guess Hybe takes the view that any publicity is good publicity. The most baffling part of all of this is, it is not like Hybe is incapable of releasing good music. These groups have released songs that were well received and even as a Flover who doesn’t particularly like the way Fromis was treated by Hybe, Hybe did give them good songs.
